This one deserves a few words. I've been playing lately with ICM - intentional camera movements. Not an easy technique, and far from obvious in a mountain environment. But I gave it a try on my last trip, and I felt that this one was a decent picture. Curious to find out the reaction... comments are more than welcomed!

At first I photographed a real still life – but then my preference for surprises led me to experiment with longer exposure times combined with moving the camera ... So the restrained bouquet of flowers turned into a stormy embrace. I think spring deserves it ;-)

Zuerst habe ich ein wirkliches Still-Leben fotografiert – aber dann führte mich meine Vorliebe für Überraschungen zum Experimentieren mit längerer Belichtungzeit kombiniert mit Bewegen der Kamera ... So wandelte sich der zurückhaltende Blumenstrauß in eine stürmische Umarmung. Ich finde, das hat der Frühling verdient ;-)

After a well-deserved night rest we got up early and our first visit was the Wellington Botanic Gardens!
Wellington Botanic Garden is a 25ha of unique landscape, protected native forest, conifers, specialised plant collections, colourful floral displays and views over Wellington city.
The garden is classified as a Garden of National Significance by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture and is an Historic Places Trust Heritage Area.
The Main Garden begins just inside the Founders' Entrance gates on Glenmore Street and includes the duck pond. A focal point of the Main Garden is the pavilion.
Have some dessert. You deserve it! Happy National Chocolate Cake Day!!!

This is a Hawk Owl (Lifer) thanks to my friends below. It was hanging out with my horses and when I went to feed them it swooped in front of my face and I said, "WTF!" I swear I felt its wing feather. As soon as I realized what it was I ran back home to get my camera, when I returned I was overjoyed and out of breath that it waited for me. I gather It was hunting mice around my round bales of hay on this extremely cold day. Same place as the moose visit a while back. Despite it looking big here it was only about 8 inches long, maybe a little more. What a cutie! I took a few shots and left it alone to keep hunting. All species deserve respect and space. If I stayed I might have scared its dinner away. Mice see me and Rooster and run ;-)

Taken a few months back in the Kent coastal town of Whitstable. In general seagulls in the British coastal resorts have a bad reputation for their aggressive behaviour, well deserved I should add. Should you just be tucking into your lovely bag of chips (fries) you'd better beware that if you take your attention away for even a second then chances are one of these guys will be swooping in for a free meal. It can scare the bejesus out of you! And if they don't steal your food they just might leave you with something else in the form of an embarrassing white streak down your back, or heaven forbid, on your head!

Amberley Castle is located in the village of Amberley, West Sussex, England. It was erected in the 12th century as a Manor House. In a courtyard on the grounds this very tired "Pottery Man" oversees all the gardening. He's taking a much deserved break and seems to be going to pieces.
