Dune 45 is a dune in the Sossusvlei area of the Namib Desert in Namibia. Its name comes from the fact that it is at the 45th kilometre of the road that connects the Sesriem gate and Sossusvlei.

Empty streets, sweltering heat and a burning sun.....
The streets are deserted and it seems like no one lives here.
Only the laundry on the facades betrays that people use to live live here.
This is the lazy Sunday afternoon mood in Imperia (Liguria) when the inhabitants of the old town take their siesta.
The only sign of life are a few pigeons scurrying around looking for something edible........

Winding through the entrance to the slot canyon on the White Dome Trail - hard to get lost here since turning right or left would require serious climbing.
The only roses that I have seen in the desert. Unfortunately, only in the winters, but they thrive this time of year.
Photo is taken close to Chilean border, at altitude 4500m.

Located only 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is a great way to see a bit of nature while visiting Las Vegas. A 13 mile drive though the park gives many stunning views. www.redrockcanyonlv.org/

Lower Calf Creek Falls is a unique feature in Grand
Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah. A 3-mile desert trail follows Calf Creek to the 126 foot high sandstone falls.
