…”No, take a bird bath, you stink” 😂

Happy Saturday all. ❤️

So in the rain I walked on the Mookerheide yesterday, place of an important battle in 1574 against the Spanish by the army of the Prince of Orange. Much blood was shed, among which that of two of the Prince's brothers. So 'Woundwort' would seem to be an appropriate plant for the wooded edge of the moor.

Great Carolus Linnaeus gives (1753) the rather boring Latin name, Stachys sylvatica, to our plant but he refers to the older name that Carolus Clusius (1526-1609) used: Galeopsis legitima. Perhaps a good name, too, because most descriptions of this plant refer to its musky odor; 'Galeopsis' goes back on the Greek for polecat and thus also its stink.

But I didn't smell anything noxious when I crushed some foliage. Possibly because the rain masked any smell...

Unlike bees, wasps can sting its prey repeatedly.

I also read somewhere that a red wasp sting can be treated with deodorant containing aluminum. ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭

I've found the article!

A solution of meat tenderizer and water on a cotton ball can be applied to a sting for 20 minutes (avoid near the eye). This can help neutralize the venom and decrease pain and swelling. If meat tenderizer is not available, you can apply an aluminum-based deodorant or baking soda solution for 20 minutes.

LARGE and long-legged wader, seen in breeding plumage, with an incredibly long bill, that is very slightly upturned. Wet grassland is the preferred habitat, where it can drive that long bill into the mud. This was the only one I saw at Elmley Marshes N.R Sheppey Kent. Must have been using the wrong deodorant, because one look at me, and it hurried away.

The look on your face when you realize your deodorant ran out about an hour ago.

Apparently the deodorant betrayed the crow,,, in swamp,,in wilderness.

In Italian the meaning of the name Carita is: Dear, beloved. From the feminine form of the Italian 'cara' or the Latin 'carus'.

In the picture you can see a brand called Carita Cosmetics from Finland, who create organic products, in this case deodorant.. '

There is also another bigger brand called Carita from France, that makes skin products.

I Bought One Of Those Deodorant Sticks That Said "Remove Cap. Push Up Bottom". My Pits Smell The Same, I Walk Funny But When I Fart, The Room Smells Fantastic.

Oh, Tiffany, oh Tiffany, what have you done?

You forgot your deodorant, it's not been fun.

A pungent perfume fills the air,

A scent so strong, it's truly unfair.

Her owner, a woman with a heart so sweet,

Tries to mask the smell, a desperate feat.

With perfumed spray and vinegar, she tries,

But the stench persists, a foul surprise.

The other critters scurry and hide,

Their noses twitch, they turn aside.

The birds take flight, a feathered swarm,

Fleeing the stench, a noxious storm.

The squirrel, once so bold and bright,

Now scampers off in sheer fright.

The rabbit, too, with trembling feet,

Hops away, a hasty retreat.

Poor Tiffany, alone and full of shame,

She wishes she could change her name.

But with such a scent, it's plain to see,

She'll always be known as "Stinky" to me,

And her owner, too, will share the shame,

A victim of Tiffany's little game.

Most wildlife photos take time, some blessings (some might call luck) and a little talent…not this time! While walking the trails of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve back on the 15th of January, while trying to get a shot of new species #55, this lad decided to fly in on me. Just before it landed it started to give me a little what for…for no apparent reason at all!

I am not sure wat triggered this lad…the color of my shirt, my deodorant…or lack of at this point in the hike or maybe he just didn’t like me pointing that long white lens at his friend. His aggression made me forget about his friend (a Black Guan) and swing my lens in his direction. Just as I did, he froze in place as if on a photo shoot…or maybe regretting his actions as I am now pointing it at him. I captured this shot and immediately went back to his much larger friend.

Getting back to the time element mentioned above, between taking and editing this shot, I have maybe 4 minutes invested. Trying to figure out what the *#@^ it was…hours. I searched the web using every descriptor I could come up with…nothing even close. Then I decided tonight to download Google Lens and take a picture of my picture. It came back with another species, but did make me believe that it was some form of jay. Finally identifying it provided so much more satisfaction than capturing a new species…at least in this fellow’s case!

No comment please

This is only me... taken on an antique street fair, I like those you don't have to pay....LOL

Now days for shows they charge from 5-15 dollars:-(((

After I took this shot I realized this mirror was filthy, all white stains,

No thats not my deodorant all over my leather jacket and jeans....LOL

This deodorant can carries the warnings of how inflammable and dangerous to health it can be! We have all seen, surely, its use in films as a handy flame-thrower to deliver a powerful jet of flame when ignited. We also must know that some of the population use it as a chemical to get high when inhaled.

PLEASANT PHEASANT ENCOUNTER, a real surprise for us both, and the male pheasant, did not hang around for introductions, a very loud ke-tuk, ke-tuk, ke tuk is uttered in alarm, as it flies away with vigorous wing beating, not to be seen again. Must change my deodorant, this one is not working lol.

But did manage a shot or two,

A colourful and unmistakable gamebird, a good reason to be very jumpy!!!

Sweet violet, Viola odorata.

This one is slightly tattered, approximately 1.5cm flower.

A species of flowering plant in the family Violaceae native to Eurasia. It is commonly found in woods and hedgerows across the UK and is known for its small, hardy, herbaceous perennial nature.

Sweet violets are edible, and their flowers can be candied and used to decorate cakes, added to salads, or used as a garnish. They have been used in herbal medicine to treat ailments such as headaches, depression, and insomnia, and were also used to create early household deodorants in medieval Britain.
