Note: i just recently started watching the television series Stranger Things with my daughter. Looking back at this photo taken this summer, the flowers on the back now reminds me of that TV show because it looks like an organism growing within the man - like a demogorgon or whatever that vine-like creature is. It is interesting how what at first to me what just a cool aesthetic that caught my eye can morph, over time, into a completely separate vision.

I had the luck to find this strange beauty at the market months ago. I started collecting stapelias before because their interesting look... a kind of creepy lovecraftian look. Some people call it "Demogorgon flower" due to its resemblance to the monster from the Stranger Things TV show. These flowers have a soft rotten smell so it can attract flies for the pollination, you can only smell it when you're too close to the flower, so it's not a problem at all!

After I tore it when I was making a dry lift/ transparency I had the idea to make a emulsion lift with the part that stayed on top of the white stuff, so it ended up being an hybrid lift (wet emulsion/ dry lift).

Roastin’ mallows in the boondocks

I saw this creeper figure at target and immediately had this picture in mind; roasting marshmallows with the demogorgon. All shot under a tree in my backyard. The flames were created with a couple of pieces of chopped cellophane lit from beneath. I made the roasting sticks and marshmallows with some wire and polymer clay. Anyhow; things hardly every come together when I plan a shot and this was the exception!

Been getting quite a few new figs/fig parts over the past few weeks, and while experimenting with them I came up with these.

Count Vertigo: Head and torso combo goes to Killer Moth, but was then stolen by Allo :P Anyway, I just wanted to try the Apoc Hal torso on him.

Mr. Bloom: Man, I love how he turned out! :) The new Demogorgon head piece works really well.

Calendar Man: Got this head after seeing Moose use it awhile back.

Like I said, more DC stuff is in the works/already made, and will be uploaded within a few days time. And yea, I know I said I was gonna upload all the pics with the old background first :P But I’ll just re-take em with this background or something.

A Springtime walk on a Bay beach leads to an encounter with this very strange "creature." Maybe its because I'm just pining for the next season of Stranger Things, or maybe we ARE actually living in the Upside Down, but is this not the Mind Flayer!!

"The Upside Down" was the main name used to describe a mysterious alternate dimension existing in parallel to the human world. The dimension was somehow "created" on November 6, 1983.[2]

Though the Upside Down was "created" in 1983, it was not the first alternate dimension that humans had discovered or encountered. In 1943, the USS Eldridge was accidentally transported to an older alternate dimension; this older dimension, described by Henry Creel as a "realm unspoiled by mankind", was home to all the creatures and lifeforms later observed roaming the Upside Down.

After being banished to this realm in 1979, Creel discovered "so many things", including a storm-like mass of sentient particles. Using his psychokinetic abilities to reshape and gain control over the particles, Henry forged a collective hive mind, allowing him to possess even more creatures and organisms.[3][4][5]

Four years later, Eleven made psychic contact with the hive mind from across dimensions under Dr. Martin Brenner's instruction. By doing this, she inadvertently opened the "Mothergate" at Hawkins Lab; somehow, making contact also created a perfect physical copy of the human world, exactly as it existed on November 6, 1983.[6][2] The older dimension explored by Henry either transformed to become the new dimension or had some other involvement in the new dimension's creation. This new dimension soon became known as the Upside Down.

Though it appeared as a perfect physical copy of the human world, the Upside Down was overrun with alien vines, spores and membranes originating from the older dimension, with the new dimension being completely devoid of human life. The vines, a race of humanoid predators and a bat-like species were all part of the hive mind; the Upside Down essentially acted as one gigantic organism, with all life within it psychically connected via Henry and the Mind Flayer.[7]

Following the opening of the Mothergate, the Upside Down began to corrupt the surrounding small town of Hawkins, Indiana. Crops started to rot, and a gigantic vine-like organism, stemming from the Mothergate, burrowed beneath Hawkins; an elaborate series of tunnel-like structures were formed, through which adolescent Demogorgons ("Demodogs") could travel in secret beneath the earth. However, in late 1984, Eleven interfered by closing the Mothergate, severing the psychic link between the worlds, and killing the Demodogs and tunnel organism in the process. A piece of the Mind Flayer hiding at the abandoned Brimborn Steel Works was also affected, its particles scattering across the floor of the facility and falling dormant.

On June 28, 1985, a new gate was opened by hidden Soviet forces operating beneath the newly-built Starcourt Mall. With the Upside Down's psychic link reestablished, Vecna (Henry Creel) reanimated the dormant fragment of the Mind Flayer and used it to kidnap and possess multiple humans and rats, feeding them chemicals and melting their bodies into puddles of biomass. This biomass was then combined to create a proxy form, an avatar through which Vecna could act in the human world. However, this proxy form was rendered useless after the new Gate was shut, and the psychic link disabled once again.

In 1986, Vecna took a more direct approach in his attempts to destroy humanity. He began psychically tormenting and murdering a host of Hawkins residents, using their deaths to open a series of new gates. Dustin, Nancy, Max, and others began investigating the murders, nicknaming the killer "Vecna" after a character from Dungeons & Dragons. The group's efforts to defeat Vecna culminated in a dual assault; Eleven used psychic projection to confront Vecna within his own mind, while Nancy, Steve and Robin traveled to the Upside Down version of the Creel House to attack his real body. Despite heavily wounding him, the group could not stop Vecna from furthering the Upside Down's invasion of Hawkins and the world at large.

So I’m re watching Stranger Things with my family and getting ready for season 3! Stranger Things is my favourite show and I can't wait for season 3!!! Im soo hyped!!!I just also just hit 500 followers and I think I’m gonna do a contest! O and there will probably be some minor spoilers!!! So just an FYI if you haven't seen ST

We spent part of a day at the La Jolla coast Children’s Pool beach. It’s usually got lots of seals hanging out there but this season the flies took over everything; there were thousands of kelp flies all over the cliffs. They aren’t bothersome like regular house flies as they only like and live for kelp. Fear not! It's not an alien species (or a Demogorgon from Stranger Things), but rather a Cassin's Kingbird making the final gulp of a what appears to be a White-lined Sphinx Moth. Mission Bay, San Diego.

I love the fact that this image has no edit whatsoever. The lighting in golden hour last night was that perfect glow and when filtered through a red-leaf tree it just filled this spot with color. I actually didn’t have any toys with me at first and I ran in to get one. I figured this inter-dimensional creature would also get satisfaction out of the beauty here.

Here is another ST figure and probably one of my tallest figs so far the Demogorgon.

The Body was lengthened with a 1 by 2 lego piece and the arms were extended. The legs were modified to look like some dinosour legs. I then sculpted on the claws on the hand,the entire head,the entire body,a bit on the arms and The Knees on the legs. The teeth was a pain in the ass to sculpt but they turned out to look pretty nice. everything else is painted with revell and citadell paints. I also added a lot of shading. The background is homemade with some wood glued on to (I´m also going to use this for my next ST figs and for the showcase)

Hey everyone! Here is my second build in my Iron Builder round against jnj_bricks! The seedpart is the Windscreen 6 x 4 x 1 Hexagonal with Bar Handle and was used here five times as the mouth of the Demogorgon.

I'm not very experience at building figures so the posing on this one turned out a bit awkward, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.
