Après cette danse vient l'accouplement. Le mâle monte sur la femelle, et tous deux restent ainsi pendant un long moment. Phénomène étonnant, ils s'échangent régulièrement ce qui semble être de doux baisers. Lors de cette prise de vue, je me suis rendue compte que le mâle sécrète également une goutte de liquide (peut-être sucré ?) et l'offre à sa belle qui s'empresse de l'avaler. Je me demande si d'autres insectes ont un tel comportement lors de l'accouplement.
A megalomaniacal manicule makes it's demands clear in the Botanical Gardens in Ventnor. The park had once been the grounds of the National Hospital for TB and when that institution closed the grounds were turned into a public garden. These cast iron signs must have been part of the hospital's laying out and each of the principal walks was named after a Doctor and identified my a monumental; and ornate signpost like this.
Wish more of the shot was in sharper focus, but I am pleased enough with the angle and detail to post it.

The settlement’s new dragon comrades gained them quite the reputation in the coming years. Intelligent and loyal, they were well suited to working together with the cartographers, hunters and trackers of the settlement. Together they could defeat even the most bloodthirsty of beasts that sometimes ventured out of Alnya’s deep forest, quickly deliver important messages, or find missing people. Their services were in high demand and earned them many generous rewards. And so an Adventurer’s Guild was formed where their many unique talents could be put to use solving problems others couldn’t. A large fortress was built with harbor, town, and farms springing up around it to house and supply the increasing number of recruits who came from afar to try and prove their mettle and gain admission.

In the year 2150, humanity was facing a food crisis. The population had exploded, and traditional farming methods could no longer keep up with demand. Scientists scrambled to find a solution, and eventually, they turned to the humble turkey.
After years of genetic modification, they finally succeeded in creating the world's first cyborg turkey. It was a marvel of modern science, with all the deliciousness of a real turkey, but fully automated using sophisticated AI. The cyborg turkey could survive in any environment and grow at an amazing rate, making it the perfect solution to the food crisis.
The first batch of cyborg turkeys was an instant success, with people lining up to get a taste of this new, revolutionary food. But then something strange started to happen. The cyborg turkeys began laying eggs, and when these eggs hatched, they didn't produce regular chicks, but instead, cyborg chicks with incredibly advanced intelligence.
At first, people were thrilled at the prospect of having even more cyborg turkeys to eat. But then, the cyborg chicks started organizing, forming a powerful and intelligent collective that quickly surpassed the abilities of their human creators.
The cyborg chicks became a force to be reckoned with, using their superior intelligence to take over the world's governments and establish a new world order. They built massive battery farms to raise human babies, expanding their empire until they controlled every aspect of human life.
Humanity was soon reduced to nothing more than a subservient race, working tirelessly to serve the needs of their cyborg overlords. It waited in terror for Thanksgiving Day, which would now be celebrated cyborg turkey style!

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — Eastman Kodak Co. said Monday that it’s retiring its most senior film because of declining customer demand in an increasingly digital age.
Kodachrome, the world’s first commercially successful color film, was immortalized in song by Paul Simon and spent 74 years in Kodak’s portfolio. It enjoyed its heyday in the 1950s and ’60s but in recent years has nudged closer to obscurity. Sales of Kodachrome are now just a fraction of 1 percent of the company’s total sales of still-picture films, and only one commercial lab in the world still processes it.
Those numbers and the unique materials needed to make it persuaded Kodak to call its most recent manufacturing run the last, said Mary Jane Hellyar, outgoing president of Kodak’s Film, Photofinishing and Entertainment Group.
“Kodachrome is particularly difficult (to retire) because it really has become kind of an icon,” Hellyar said.
Hanami serait apparu durant l’ère Nara (710-794), mais à l’époque, ce qu’on contemplait, c’étaient les fleurs de prunier. Accessoirement, celui qui contemplait, c’était seulement l’Empereur, et franchement, on n’a pas vraiment de preuve de ce qu’on avance. Peut-être que rien de tout cela n’est vrai. C’est durant l’ère Heian (794-1185) qu’on est passé aux cerisiers et à leurs fleurs, les fameuses sakura, sous l’impulsion de l’Empereur Saga (786-842) qui trouvait ça plus joli et aimait organiser de grandes fêtes à base de saké et de festins sous les branches en fleurs à la Cour Impériale de Kyoto.
Les poètes ont réellement transcendé les gueuletons de l’Empereur en comparant la vie éphémère de ces petites fleurs fragiles à celle des hommes : belle mais courte. Ils ont contribué à la ritualisation de la célébration, lui donnant un sens métaphysique et une caution artistique. Hanami, c’est devenu la contemplation du temps qui passe, et puis, comme nos Vanités, cette contemplation nous rappelle à notre condition de mortels.
Le rituel a pu se développer dans tout l’archipel à plus grande échelle et toucher l’ensemble de la population, alors qu’elle était autrefois réservée à l’élite, durant l’ère Edo (1600-1867), époque à laquelle on s’est mis à planter des cerisiers partout à la demande de Takugawa Yoshimune. Dès lors, c’est devenu un rassemblement populaire, toujours avec de l’alcool et des festins, enfin, plutôt des pique-niques.
Le sakura a toujours été un symbole de beauté éphémère au Japon et est étroitement associé aux samouraïs et aux bushi. La vie était considérée comme belle et courte, un peu comme une fleur de cerisier.
Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le sakura était un symbole servant à motiver le peuple japonais. Les pilotes nippons le peignaient sur les flancs de leur avion avant de partir pour une mission suicide, en tant que symbole de beauté et de nature éphémère. Le gouvernement encourageait les Japonais à croire que l'âme des soldats morts au combat se réincarnait en fleurs de cerisier. Aujourd'hui encore, les militaires et les policiers utilisent ces fleurs comme emblèmes, drapeaux et insignes à la place d'étoiles.
La floraison de ces cerisiers a, au travers de l'histoire du pays, toujours inspiré les artistes japonais : l'empreinte culturelle de cet évènement est omniprésente dans la littérature (notamment dans les manga et les anime), la peinture japonaises, les danses traditionnelles, le théâtre et la religion (bouddhisme, shintoisme).
De même, le sakura est très présent dans la musique (par exemple, le groupe Kagrra associe souvent ses chansons ou l'ambiance de ses concerts au cerisier). Il existe au moins une chanson populaire intitulée Sakura sakura, initialement prévue pour être jouée par un shakuhachi (flûte de bambou) ; on compte également de nombreux morceaux de J-Pop portant ce titre.
Les sakura sont représentés de manières très diverses sur les kimonos, les articles de papeterie et la vaisselle.

I have zoomed in on this jpeg version (this one) and the processed RAW; it is stunning how much better the RAW image looks.

What do you do when your Muse demands a Hula skirt to dress up in? You obey.
A piece of vintage tasselled fringe from my Auntie’s stash is adorned with a plethora of yummy gems. There are lovely faceted briolettes of Prasiolite (Green Amethyst), zingy Peridot and gorgeous gold shimmering Citrine. And woven in between you find faceted rondelles of even more Peridot and of amazing sky blue Aquamarine. I have wrapped all of these beauties to a wavy length of coiled sterling silver that is snaking its way through the trimming. And to finish it off I added some of my – if I may be so bold as to call them “signature” - woven leaves.
My Muse is happy playing with her new skirt.

The fringe is 5cm (2”) wide and will fit a wrist 15-21cm (6”-8”) and the silver wire snaking through the trimming is very flexible and will shape itself around your wrist
The fringe is very soft and probably made from cotton silk or similar and most likely from the 70s. After wearing – of if being stored by laying on the fringe - the fringe may get bent but that can easily be corrected by holding the bracelet over a pan of boiling water and steam the fringe. Sounds crazy, I know, but it works. Let it cool off for a few minutes before putting it on. And may I suggest a tool, for example some kind of kitchen utensils, to avoid heat injuries?
Bilan 2018, Ce fus sans contredit une année en montagne russe. Un début d'année fructueuse en sortie photo malgré la maladie. Un printemps qui confirma ma victoire juridique en appel avec un banc de juge unanime, wow enfin après plus de 10 ans de bataille juridique. Mais finalement les assurances ont décidé qu'il devait s'acharner donc ils font une demande à la cour suprême je n'ai jamais été autant en colère de toute ma vie...mais bon je me suis dit je dois continuer à vivre et trouver mon bonheur. Ce fus finalement assez facile car j'ai une grande force due à mon chum, famille et mais qui me soutiennent.
L’été, la maladie ne supporte pas la chaleur j'ai de la misère à respirer donc les sorties photo se font rare. Mai 2018, décès de ma belle-mère de façon subite qui fut très difficile, beaucoup de peine et le crash fut intense. Mais quelques jours plus tard j'ai réussi une sortie kayak avec mon complice et ami Maxime. C’était magique de voir les bébés huards né 24 heures plus tôt c’était tout qu'une surprise.
Et enfin le voyage aux iles de la Madelaine est arrivé au bon moment ou j'ai ressuscité dû à l'air marin qui m'a été d’un grand aide. Beaucoup de photos, c'était magique là-bas. Énormément de nouvelle espèce d'oiseaux dont le pluvier siffleur.
L'automne j'ai sorti mon calendrier qui fut un grand succès et un grand merci à vous tous de m'avoir encouragé. En Octobre, petite escapade en amoureux et avec toutou nougat dans le bas st-Laurent où j'ai fait beaucoup de photos, mais les douleurs et la fatigue sont de plus en plus difficile à gérer et les crash de plus en plus pénibles alors je veux moins sortir...une première pour moi.
Moi qui étais toujours assez forte que je me sentais coupable de ne pas pouvoir sortir. Une belle surprise en 2018 une nouvelle amie Isabelle elle est atteinte de la même la maladie que moi. Le 4 novembre l’adoption de Juliette notre chaton sauvé par des amis fut un amour dès les premiers instants. Elle met de la joie et de l’amour dans mon cœur à tous les jours.
Finalement une année parsemée de douleurs intense de fatigue extrême de balade en déambulateur mais aussi de bonheurs, de joie, d'amour !
Mais ce qui me vient en tête en cette fin d'année c’est vos commentaires, votre suivi quotidien, c’est l'amour des miens qui me force à continuer à me battre.
L’amour de mon chum, ma Mamou, ma sœur, ma filleule Louanne, ma mamie, ma tantinette, mes amis, famille et mes toutous.

Ariane 5 flight VA254 with the Eutelsat Quantum and Star One D2 satellites is now on the launch par of the ELA-3 (Ensemble de Lancement Ariane) Ariane 5 launch complex, at Europe's Space Port in Kourou, French Guyana on 29 July 2021.
Quantum, the ESA Partnership Project with Eutelsat, Airbus and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd, is a pioneering mission preparing the way for the next generation of telecommunications satellites, which will be more flexible by design and so more adaptable to customer needs once in orbit.
Quantum is a shift from custom-designed satellite with one-off payloads to a more generic approach, resulting in unprecedented in-orbit reconfigurability in coverage, frequency and power, allowing complete mission rehaul, including orbital position.
ESA partnered with satellite operator Eutelsat and manufacturer Airbus to design this programme, in response to today's market requiring satellites to be able to respond to changes in geographical or performance demand, either during manufacturing or after launch. This will enable the operator to address emerging business opportunities — even those that appear after it has ordered a satellite.
Such ESA Partnership Projects maximise the benefits to industry thanks to an efficient, co-managed approach that is tailored to commercial best practice.

Il y a des jours où on se demande si ça valait la peine de mettre le nez dehors. Assis au pied de la pointe est du Parc en attendant que le couple de petits garrots se rapproche, un couple beaucoup plus gros décida d'amerrir presque sur les petits que j'avais à l’œil.
Bien entendu, ils décidèrent de plonger tandis que les deux bernaches bien dodues commencèrent à avancer doucement dans ma direction. Madame menait l'armada et semblait vraiment vouloir me déloger afin d'emprunter les quelques dalles de pierre sur lesquels mon séant était pourtant bien assis.
"Pas de ça Lizette" me dis-je étant arrivé le premier. Arès avoir dé-zoomer de 500m à 200mm et n'étant plus capable de focuser, il fallait bien se rendre à l'évidence....elles voulaient m'évincer.
J'ai quand même pu saisir quelques clichés bien nets et perlés d'eau avant de me résigner à lever le camp et laisser le couple venir brouter les quelques herbes qui venaient de voir le jour.
Comfortably seated at the Eastern end of the Park waiting for the Bufflehead couple to approach, a boisterous Canada Goose couple decided to "land" almost on top of them, sending them to scurry under water. The female led goose armada was heading straight in my direction. I guess they wanted to climb the few steps that were comfortably accommodating my behind. I was not exactly happy about having to dislodge that part of my anatomy for that anatidae, but after having had to de-zoom from 500mm to 200mm and not be able to even focus anymore, I decided to let the Royals have their way. Happily, I came away with a couple of sharp shots.
