Blanchard. OK

I found this old retired GMC truck retired behind a feed store, just caught a glimpse as I drove by so had to go back and catch this shot, the forgotten past.

Old delivery truck on The Columbia River somewhere around Wishram, Washington across the river from Oregon.

I had originally edited this photo to take out distractions, but found that lost the scale of the picture, especially the width of the river.

There was a corrugated lean-to shack right next to the truck. Wonder if it was a seasonal shelter for Native American fishermen. I've seen other such shelters nearby.

What farm doesn't have a few vehicles rusting away? Just outside of Paris ON. I have posted this truck before.

Does anyone have a distributor cap for a 1946 Dodge truck? If not, I'm afraid your package delivery is going to be late...hope you didn't need it badly!

Railway Express Agency (aka REA Express) (REA), founded as the American Railway Express Agency and later renamed the American Railway Express Inc., was a national package delivery service that operated in the United States from 1918 to 1975. REA arranged transport and delivery via existing railroad infrastructure, much as today's UPS or DHL companies use roads and air transport. It was created through the forced consolidation of existing services into a national near-monopoly to ensure the rapid and safe movement of parcels, money, and goods during World War I.

REA ceased operations in 1975, unable to adapt to changes in the rail industry, and increased competition from other modes of package delivery.

The funny thing, for those of us who were around for the REA days it seems that as UPS slowly rolled in, the REA trucks disappeared without us even noticing!

The K.M. Brondin bakery delivery truck in Helsinki in the 1910´s. The picture - here with my partial colorization - is by Eric Sundström. The original is in the Helsinki city museum collection (N30303).

Old delivery truck by the side of the road.

The owner was rightfully very proud of this gem. She said that her husband once sold it for $50 for scrap. She told him she wanted it back, and they paid $250 to the same man to get it back.

I’d say it’s a keeper, alright!

DIVCO (Detroit Industrial Vehicle Co.) had a fascinating beginning. It was founded by George Bacon, who was head engineer at the Detroit Electrical Vehicle Co. When that company rejetected Bacon's idea of building a gas-powered delivery vehicle fit for heavy use with frequent stops, for example, as a milk delivery truck, he and some partners founded DIVCO. DIVCO produced trucks from 1936-1986.

We can always tell when the Mailman is coming, his little truck makes so much noise!

Went to Holland for one of my daughters and on the way home I took a couple back roads and found this old truck.

Sometimes there is just nowhere to go. No destination. Even if you had a destination, you could not get it going to travel to that place.

I am such a positive person.

It's all random. Everyday the cards get shuffled.

happy Truck tHuRsDay

Haha We are visiting family in LA and were bumper to bumper for 2 1/2 hours. My husband told me to just wait until "rush-hour" traffic. LOL This shot is of the Pepsi truck in the lane next to us and is just for fun. Have a great weekend everyone!

...Non. Ca, c'est le boulot des chats.

The car painted on the side of a delivery truck appears to be leaping over the parked cars that were in the way of my getting a shot of the entire truck. Sometimes you just have to work with what's in front of you.

Unfortunately I don't know the name of the artist who painted this.
