On 12-15 May, 2016 Model United Nations Conference in Nakhchivan was held at Nakhchivan State University for the first time. This event was UNDP’s first event ever organized in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The work of UN General Assembly was simulated at the Conference with the topic of "Development of international cooperation for the creation of new opportunities in education".
Students from Nakhchivan State University, "Nakhchivan" University, ADA University, Academy of Public Administration under the President of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Khazar University, Western University, as well as students from other higher education institutions participated at the conference. It should be noted that the students were awarded with the "The Best Delegate", "The Best Debutant" and "The Best Debater" nominations at the end of the conference.
The opening ceremony was held with the participation of the Minister of Youth and Sport of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Mr. Azad Jabbarov, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan, Mr. Intigam Babayev, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Ghulam M. Isaczai, as well as the rector of Nakhchivan State University, Mr. Saleh Maharramov and the rector of "Nakhchivan" University, Mr. Ismail Aliyev.
The conference was organized within the framework of the "Creating new platforms to support active youth engagement in the global policy debates" project, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan and UNDP in Azerbaijan.
The main goal of the project was the institutionalization of the UN Model movement in Azerbaijan, the establishment of MUN clubs across universities, and the creation of MUN network that will unify them. In this regard, MUN conferences were organized at intra-university and inter-university levels, with the largest MUN conference organized at the national level, establishing a new national Model UN tradition - MilliMUN.

The Royal Anthropological Institute’s conference ‘Anthropology and Photography’ took place at the British Museum, Clore Centre 29-31 May 2014, in conjunction with the museum’s Department of Africa, Oceania and the Americas. The aim of the Conference was to stimulate an international discussion on the place, role and future of photography. Photography by Anthony Leigh
