Anubis, whilst not the most sociable Serval at the Ark, Lincolnshire, did deign to come out for some close up shots. We kept our distance however! Beautiful but extremely feisty.
Salyx, in the garden. Easter Sunday, 2019.
I had just put up a new play tent for the cats - and Salyx was wondering what it was. Did they play in the tent? Ah, no. Rowyn, Ypache and Aspyn had a wee sniff around it and Salyx actually deigned to enter, sniffed around inside for a few minutes and then stalked off. This is her reaction on first seeing said play tent.
Maybe today...

In my years on the lake, I have noted with some amusement how the herons watch me approach only to inevitably fly off the moment I raise my camera. So it is with all the wildlife around here (probably because they have never really become accustomed to humans) so when I actually find something willing to pose, however briefly, it is a moment of simple and unexpected pleasure.
So it was with this young heron who I watched prowl the banks for some time, seemingly unperturbed, as I drifted near...of course, without my camera.
The next day, I returned to the spot, hoping against hope that I might find him again. I was sitting in the canoe scanning the shoreline when a significant fluttering occurred over my head and looking back I saw him perched on a dead tree not 10 feet away. He proceeded to glide down to the shore and began his hunt, me, this time camera at the ready, snapping away. One of the real joys of an event like this is the instant affinity and kinship one feels when another species deigns to share an otherwise private moment. Special indeed.
I liked his pose in this one and it's worth a click on the magnifier I think.

One of the other visiting photographers said he had seen Dartfords on his way to see Colin and took me back along his route from the Moat Pond car park to find them. Unfortunately, none seemed to be showing in the sharp breeze and gusting wind of mid afternoon.
Later I went back, after looking elsewhere and for the Redstarts I'd seen earlier and I spotted one bird flitting about between the small bushes dotting the heath at that location. Generally, it seemed intent on remaining concealed in the foliage, but eventually either this, or another bird did deign to show itself, albeit briefly and none too close, out in the open.
Thanks for viewing and thank you for your comments and faves.

Alongside the Gulf, Rothmans and Martini liveries, the John Player Special livery with its iconic black and gold colours is one of those stand out designs I remember from my childhood.
This car, the 1982 Lotus 91/5, deigned by the legendary Colin Chapman, was one of the first to use a blend of carbon fibre and kevlar to give a light yet rigid chassis that could withstand being involved in an accident.
The 91/5 wasn't a particularly successful car, taking only one win in the 1982 season at the Austrian Grand Prix, notable perhaps for being the last win by Lotus before Colin Chapman died.

Pint-sized owl of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico; found in northern forests and western mountains. Prefers areas with conifers and thick understory. Fairly common, but shy and difficult to see. Patterned with brown and white overall, with streaked white forehead and blotchy rusty-brown streaks below. No ear tufts. Migratory, but numbers of migrants fluctuate greatly from year to year. Named for its loud, repetitive whistles that sound like a saw being whetted (sharpened). Also gives a harsher, rising screech. Most similar to less common Boreal Owl. Saw-whet is smaller with streaks (not spots) on forehead and richer orange-brown streaks on underparts.
Same day as the Boreal Owl and the Long-eared Owl. At least this one deigned to look at us. This amazing collection of owls has never happened to me again.

Come into these arms again
And lay your body down
The rhythm of this trembling heart
Is beating like a drum
It beats for you, it bleeds for you
It know not how it sound
For it is the drum of drums
It is the song of songs
Once I had rarest rose
That ever deigned to bloom
Cruel winter chilled the bud
And stole my flower too soon
Oh loneliness, oh hopelessness
To search the ends of time
For there is in all the world
No greater love than mine
Love, oh love, oh love
Still falls the rain (still falls the rain)
Love, oh love, oh, love
Still falls the night
Love, oh love, oh love
Be mine forever (be mine forever)
Love, oh love, oh love
Let me be the only one
To keep you from the cold
Now the floor of heaven's lain
With stars of brightest gold
They shine for you, they shine for you
They burn for all to see
Come into these arms again
And set this spirit free.

The Spitfire Mk XIV was essentially the Mk VIII deign but with a Griffon engine instead of the Merlin. Compared to earlier marks, the XIV was a bit of a handful to fly, but by 1943, the RAF had many more experienced pilots.
The Spitfire Mk XIV could fly at over 440mph and, being able to climb almost vertically, it "gave many Luftwaffe pilots the shock of their lives when, having thought they had bounced you from a superior height, they were astonished to find the Mk XIV climbing up to tackle them head-on, throttle wide open!"

On that beautiful summer day, we went to photograph frogs. The activity itself is strange for me. We also approached the choice of pond responsibly and decided that the pond located in the museum-reserve would be perfect for us. Just imagine a day off, sunny and warm, people with their whole families come to walk in the park, and so do we, lovers of nature and frogs. The pond itself was in a lowland with a rather steep and muddy bank, but it had water lilies and frogs, just what we needed. Having briefly examined all the water lilies, I realized that everything would not be easy and that I would have to wait until our models deigned to take the desired position. To avoid getting bored, I started capturing the frogs sitting on the leaves of the water lily, periodically checking all the flowers. People were walking around, guides were giving excursions, and absolutely everyone was interested in what we were doing. When they found out that we were filming frogs, their faces expressed a fairly wide range of emotions: from surprise to confusion. Finally, the princess took her throne and we took turns photographing her. It seemed to us that this angle did not suit the princess. We made a special tool out of a tripod and turned her throne around and photographed it again on a first-come, first-served basis. This shoot was the most fun I've ever had and I hope you enjoy the princess.

Not that many years ago the original Tappan Zee Bridge which was finished in 1955 was the first major bridge on the Hudson River north of the George Washington Bridge but was obsolete the day it was finished because it was deigned for much lighter level of traffic and the lighter smaller trucks that were dominate during the 1930-40's. By the 1960's the bridge became part of I-87 the main interstate going from New York City going towards Montreal in Canada. By the mid 1980's the Bridge was already falling apart and had several major and very expensive patchwork repairs. Finally with a large influx of extra federal funds during the Obama administration funds for a new much larger stronger replacement bridge was allocated and the new bridge which was finished several years ago. In addition to modern sensibilities a dedicated lane for people to walk of bicycle across which is 3.8 miles long with beautiful views of the river to be had. During fair weather during the spring and fall it is a favorite spot for my wife and myself to get a nice exercise walk in.

A beautiful Vignale deigned early Ferrari.
Ferrari built 27 212 Export Competition chassis. Several different coachbuilders were used to design and build the bodies.
This Ferrari 212 Export Cabriolet is one of a pair of cars designed by Giovanni Michelotti and built by Carrozzeria Vignale. The Turin-based coachbuilder was one of Ferrari's preferred firms.
Interestingly, the Ferrari is very similar in style to the Cunningham C3s that were being built by Vignale at that time.
A view of the Philip Ryan Building (left) and Elder Building (right) on the west side of the 400 block of N. Main St. in downtown Bloomington.
The Philip Ryan Building at 414 N. Main St. was constructed in 1887. The building was constructed for J.H. Bryant for $8,000 to house Philip Ryan Hardware and Store. The three-story masonry structure is a Victorian Romanesque design. Sadly, the name of the architect who designed t has sadly been lost to history. A restaurant by the name of Reality Bites now occupies the first floor.
Next to the Philip Ryan Building is the Elder Building at 416 N. Main St. Designed by Bloomington architect George H. Miller for Dr. W.A. Elder, the Elder Building is a three-story masonry structure deigned in Victorian Romanesque style. Upon its completion in 1884, the Elder building is said to have been the costliest store building that had been built up to that time in Bloomington. The Elder Building is now home to The Dapper Pet, a pet boutique and spa.
Both buildings are contributing architectural properties in the Bloomington Central Business District. The district was listed in 1985 on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and includes roughly twelve square blocks of the city and encompasses 140 buildings, 118 of which are contributing buildings to the district's historic character.
Bloomington is the seat of McLean County. It is adjacent to Normal, and is the more populous of the two principal municipalities of the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area. Bloomington is 135 miles (217 km) southwest of Chicago, and 162 miles (261 km) northeast of St. Louis. The estimated population of Bloomington in 2019 was 77,330, with a metro population of 191,067.

I planned to alternate photographs of tigers and various bays of Primorye. While I was processing photographs of tabby cats, I realized a seemingly obvious thing. Photographing animals is much more difficult than landscapes. You literally have to crawl with a bulky and heavy lens, and the result of this adventure is completely uncertain. The beast may simply not appear where you expect it. And if the animal still deigns to show itself, then you simply start shooting in series, watching it through the viewfinder. Without thinking much about the composition, you rely on your photographic equipment, because at any moment the animal can leave. And if you managed to photograph an animal, then processing such photographs is a pleasure, not only from the point of view of the process itself, but also the emotions experienced anew. Perhaps all these difficulties of photographing animals will fade into the background as you gain experience. I want to believe it. But with a tiger, everything is like with people; after sleep you should wash your face.

I haven’t had a picture posted of darling but curmudgeonly neighbour Lu. This was taken a few years ago. She stills comes around but not as often as I believe she visits every house on the street and getting fed as she has put on a bit of weight. I am pleased to see her when she deigns to visit with her usual purrs and snarls, all at the same time. I simply can’t resist her. It is those eyes - totally mesmerising.

**
This Nuthatch walked back and forth on this trunk looking for insects. She deigned to show her beak for the photographer.
----

Is a species of bird in the family Sittidae. It is a medium-sized nuthatch, measuring 14 cm in length. Like other nuthatches, it is a stocky bird with a short tail and long beak. The upperparts are blue-gray, the lowerparts of very variable colors according to the geography, and can be pure white or yellowish red, with or without pale zone on the cheek. The bird also has a black eye line, and has a certain sexual dimorphism, the male having more pronounced colors than the female. Like other members of its genus, it is a very agile bird that climbs trees with ease, sometimes descending along the trunks of trees head first. This passerine feeds mainly on insects, especially caterpillars and beetles it finds on the trunks and branches of trees. In autumn and winter, his diet is supplemented with dried fruits and seeds. This nuthatch often stores food, by hiding, for example, seeds in the bark of trees.
Crystal Rain by Connie Marcum Wong
When the rains burst forth
from heaven's lofty heights,
Apollo deigns to repress his golden light.
Beneath, waves unfurl with whitecaps
crashing on my island's sand;
I feel the strength of Mother Nature's land.
Render me no umbrella for this storm;
no paltry drops are felt to prickle skin,
just blur of storm to be consumed within.
Rain has always been a love to me.... so
when crystal droplets fall they become a part
of the euphoria felt deep within my heart.
Some rain drops I just caught outside my house on a banana leaf plant. I got a little wet but the outcome was very much worth it! :)

Known by all, the 'piaf' is so common in an urban environment and so unresponsive that the passerby does not even deign to look at it anymore, except when he has a few crumbs to throw at him. However, this small, hopping, robust and cheeky ball of feathers deserves our attention.
