A final word on the subject - for now anyway. I felt the need to say it as I read and hear about instances of hate. I feel the need to say it as someone who experienced something similar.
War robs people of their voices, no matter which side they are on.
Always remember that people are not their governments; do not villainize or dehumanize others based on nationality. Do not treat them as personifications and manifestations of all that you stand against. Let them speak for themselves - very often, they too stand for the same causes you do, and very often they too condemn the same things.
Helplessness has different faces. You can show solidarity with the victim without demonizing others - the people are just as helpless, and they're the other side of this coin. All that does is create or exacerbate the sense of alienization and isolation from the world, for a population that's about to be ostracized and blacked out for the faults of its regime.
There are countless Russian creators on Second life. So while we're out supporting our Ukrainian friends, let's not forget to show them some kindness. They too face an uncertain, increasingly bleak future. And they too are in a position they didn't choose.
If the thought offends you or you need to have it broken down, feel free to remove me. I'm okay with that. I don't believe in shitting on people based on arbitrary labels they have no say in, or based on the actions of a government they most certainly didn't choose.

Deterioration. Abandonment. Corruption. When looking at my photo stream, you may think I have a love for this sort of thing. You may even think me somewhat morbid. Not so. Life is not always bright, cheerful, and happy. When traveling and exploring with a camera it is the objects with wear, patina, and weathering that catch my eye. There is nothing more boring than newly painted or newly refinished surfaces to my way of thinking. I leave the sunsets, beaches, new cars, etc. for others to take. Give me an old rusty pickup truck or weathered barn and I am happy. Birds, butterflies, and flowers are pretty but an old dilapidated farmhouse is absolutely gorgeous. Worn objects are used objects and used is a word that describes life and living. The worn care lines of a human face show forth life and living in the same way. The objects that people have used and the people who have used them are the story of human relationships and human civilization. Desolation, abandonment and destruction are actually dehumanizing. They do nothing to lift up or encourage our common humanity. They are the very picture of Nihilism. Dachau and Auschwitz are Nihilism. Do we need a reminder? Why are we fascinated by dehumanizing subjects? Where is R.P. McMurphy when you need him?

Ava stirred in her dreams. Something was wrong. Like so many other times, that dream was being too real. Everything was going dark and she could barely see anything except a small red light at the end of the long hall. She walked there, drawn by a melody that was heard on the other side of an old and worn door. Ava reached out her hand and paused for a moment. For an instant, her skin was not purple as in the Fantasy Lands, but she was back to a normal color, pale and somewhat ashen, like sickly. She opened the door and entered the room.
Everything was very fast and confusing. A figure was waiting for her with her back. A dark-skinned woman in a long purple dress. Green horns and dragon wings so black, they seemed to be made of darkness. And a creepy tail adorned with needles and spikes that could certainly be capable of ripping anyone apart. She had never seen that woman. Never in her entire life. And yet she felt that she knew her. As soon Ava began to regain the appearance she had in the Fantasy Lands, that woman began to slowly turn to face her. And what Ava could see in that moment made her gasp in terror.
Far, far from there, Efar woke up restless in the small camp they had set up. Ava was not there.

We live in an era of nihilism. It has become so normal that we are blind to it. A nihilistic society has high divorce rates and rampant fatherlessness. A nihilistic society is promiscuous with high numbers of sexually transmitted diseases. A nihilistic society has drug and crime epidemics. A nihilistic society lacks morals and common sense.
Abortion, the killing of one’s offspring, is nihilistic. Calling a human fetus a parasite is nihilistic. Why would one lie and call a fetus a parasite? It is because nihilism is incompatible with the truth. The further a society goes into nihilism the more it despises the truth. Nihilists love to preach their gospel of subjectivism. Nihilists declare that there are more than two genders. Nihilists support euthanasia. With nihilism, life has no value. Nihilists claim that people are nothing but sacks of hormones. Without a doubt, nihilism degrades and dehumanizes people. The climate change (net-zero) agenda is nihilistic (anti-human). I have read LGBTQ literature, which states that heterosexuality must be abolished. This too is a form of nihilism. Supporting mass migration, as empires do in decline, is nihilistic. Indeed, supporting the demise of your children’s future is nihilistic. Feminism, with its hatred of men, is nihilistic. Woke-Marxism, with its oppressed versus oppressor, is nihilistic. Socialism ends in nihilism, just look at the Soviets and Nazis. Artificial intelligence is also nihilistic, the same with transhumanism.
Mao wanted to destroy the Four Olds: Olds Ideas, Old Customs, Old Culture, and Old Habits. Mao needed New Ideas, New Customs, New Culture, and New Habits to replace the Old ones. The old order must be destroyed and replaced by the new order. Violence is part of the nihilist revolution. Nihilism, the worship of nothingness, in its purest form will produce destruction. In the end, the madness of nihilism will lead to either world conquest or utter ruin.

Nietzsche declared that God was dead, because modern man had lost their faith in God. The foundations of our society are based on Christianity. We would destroy our measuring stick of right and wrong, truth and lie. Without our foundations, we will lose our house.
The West has rejected God and embraced secular humanism. The fruits of this will end in total nihilism. In rejecting God, they reject not only salvation but the truth. Since they reject the truth, they will follow error to its logical end—destruction. Nihilists are at war with the truth, at war with God. They, like Nietzsche, want to murder God. They want to be like Nietzsche’s Superman. They want to replace God and be their own god. They want to live by their own truth. In their nihilistic gospel of nothingness, they want to turn the world into nothingness. God created the universe from nothing. Therefore, they want to turn everything into nothing and create their own world. They do not want the universe to revolve around God. They want the universe to revolve around themselves. Their nihilistic world of tyranny will be cold; it will be efficiently run by machines and technology. They are constructing an artificial (digital) world. Their utopian world will be so all-encompassing that no one will be able to escape. Moreover, they want to transform a human into a transhuman—Nietzsche’s Superman.
With each technological advance, man becomes both stronger and weaker. Every power gained is also a power that can be used against man as well. Every victory won, means man is that much closer to being the servant of the leader in charge. Those who reject Christ will serve the antichrist. They will become born again in the antichrist, a spiritual (transhuman) rebirth. 666: take the Mark of the Beast! The merging of man and technology will mean the abolition of man. Transhumanists want to merge man and machine to create a new being. They want to make a being through their technology, a being made in their own image. They want to end humanity as we know it. They are planning the extinction of man!
Nihilism is the inversion of Christianity. In the gospel of nihilism, the antichrist is Christ, and God the Father is the dragon (the devil). Yet those who reject the Mark and choose Christ will live. The nihilists, however, will spend eternity living in the nihilism of hell with their father the devil.

All that remains of the Jewish graves at the site of the Plaszow concentration camp. Inmates were forced to remove the headstones and use them to pave the entrance of the camp.
Yesterday was the Australia Day Public Holiday. It was hot and humid, followed by a thunderstorm just at sunset. But it is a day to reflect on our history and our actions. Many councils have chosen to encourage a more Indigenous perspective, to try and incorporate thousands of years of history rather than just a couple of hundred colonizing years which dehumanized their knowledge and understanding.
On a 37 degree C day though, my mind went to the sunburnt country of Dorothy McKellar's poem
"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror- the wide brown land for me!"
I could add so long as I have shelter and an air con at 37 degrees I can just about manage. In Melbourne the beaches would have been packed. Here's hoping the stinging jellyfish were not on the beaches as well. The sea view is from a previous visit.

This image is a precursor to my Spring 2016 BFA thesis show on self-stigmatization. Wanting to belong in society but fearing the position of the "other", a social space in which one is misunderstood, isolated, devalued, and dehumanized based on what makes them different. I've been putting all my time and effort into this series of 20 images for my thesis show and I would love your input!

I have recently heard the term "surplus humans" used for the long term unemployed. That kind of dehumanizing language makes me angry, and one of my first thoughts after hearing the term was "this way to the camps".
Inside one of the wooden barracks at Auschwitz II-Birkenau, the largest of the Nazi extermination camps, where over a million people—most of them Jews—were murdered during the Holocaust. These three-tiered wooden bunks were built to hold hundreds of prisoners in brutal, overcrowded conditions, with little regard for survival.
The cracked stone floor and rough timber frame, dimly lit by a small window, reflect a place not meant for life, but for systematic dehumanization.
I photographed this in 2025 while walking through Birkenau, reflecting on my father’s survival of Dachau—and on the countless others who were not as fortunate. The silence in places like this is not empty; it remembers.
To all those who had the love or kindness to wish me well, I wish them well. Because if you are well, you have health, happiness and love.
But, I am not celebrating. Because you cannot celebrate when women and children are being savagely slaughtered every day, shot like animals, cities with churches, mosques and hospitals are being leveled and a people is being dehumanized, while 800 million supposedly civilized people either watch indifferently and indifferently, or, in the worst case, applaud the slaughterers. And inhumanity has its limits. We have exceeded them too.
A better year is not in sight. Nor do we have time and space for empty wishes. What I wish for everyone is that we stand at some point at a height of dignity, such that we are not ashamed when we are in front of the mirror. So to speak, that what we could do as Humans in this life, we did.

Sadness and outrage. That's what many of us have been feeling for a long time in America. We watched in horror the video of George Floyd, pleading for his life, as he lay dying with a racist cop's knee on his neck, who refused to hear his pleas, "I can't breathe." 8 minutes 46 seconds later, he was dead. After 400 years of racism, millions of Black and Brown people enslaved, and thousands terrorized, oppressed and killed, America is finally hearing the cries of Floyd and Black Lives Matter protestors for racial equality and justice. Floyd's death sparked BLM protests all over America and the world. Floyd was speaking for all of us when he cried, "I can't breathe." We no longer want America to be a country where Black and other people are dehumanized, destroyed or killed for the color of their skin or for profit. We will keep fighting for real social change, equality and justice, and for a better world where the humanity of all people is protected and revered. Black Lives Matter! Power to the People!
Become a psychedelic flower of the trance-human revolution, an anti-christ-establishment cult-ural phenomenon. Enjoy a cataclysmic decline in human cognition due to a dehumanized zombie like state of mindless conformity as you embrace your electronic slavery. Participate in the new social norms of deviant social evolution while in your brand new altered state of consciousness. The hypnotic patterns of synchronized antichrist frequencies producing rhythmic motor patterns in the absence of your sensory inputs will control you like a robot. How exhilarating!
Will you become a flower child of the Fourth Industrial Revolution? Will you be a budding flower of transhumanism—a bloom, a hybrid, a child of the Beast? Don’t forget your passport; grab your Digital ID and head toward the goal, toward the Mark. Immortality is waiting; it is waiting until Judgment Day, when you will receive your just reward of eternal punishment. Your pedals will be plucked off. You will wilt and fade away, no longer to be remembered. Your fragrance will smell of fire, your aroma of sulfur.
