Stevens-Henager College donated computers to two area high schools on Friday, March 11. Springville and Jordan high schools will each received ten PC laptop computers and two Macs. The schools were chosen from among several schools in the Salt Lake Valley because of their severe need for computer lab upgrades.
“Access to up-to-date technology is key in student success at both the post-secondary level and on the job. We see this play out with our graduates who are finding jobs in some of the most popular industries, like healthcare, graphic arts, business, and information technology, and nearly all of these fields require the use of a computer. With the donation of these laptops, we know we are helping these students become more prepared for college and a career,” said Vicky Dewsnup, regional director of Stevens-Henager.
The laptops donated to Jordan High School will be in travel cases so they can rotate easily into each classroom that needs them, as students work through the curriculum.
Springville High School will use the donated units in their Core Academy Program, a self-contained classroom that provides targeted intervention for students with attendance, academic and credit issues in order to get them back on track for graduation. Before the donation, the program did not have computers.
