Anlässlich des 25-jährigen Bestehens der Ufa-Filmstudios kam 1943 – also Mitten im Zweiten Weltkrieg – der mit grossem Aufwand und Starbesetzung produzierte Farbfilm «Münchhausen» in die Kinos. Er erzählte – wie passend für einen vom Propagandaminister persönlich in Auftrag gegebenen Film - die Lebensgeschichte des bekannten und populären «Lügenbarons» Hieronymus von Münchhausen. Der Film sollte ausdrücklich ein Unterhaltungs- und kein Propagandafilm sein. Das Drehbuch schrieb der eigentlich mit Berufsverbot belegte Schriftsteller Erich Kästner unter Pseudonym. Einige Dialoge enthalten trotz strenger Zensur potentiell subversive Äusserungen. So antwortet Münchhausen seinem Diener Christian, als dieser bei einem Blick auf die Uhr des Barons feststellt, entweder müsse die Uhr kaputt sein, oder die Zeit selber: «Die Zeit ist kaputt, Christian.»
Mehr ist auch heute nicht zu sagen.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Ufa film studios, the color film "Münchhausen," produced at great expense and with a star-studded cast, was released in 1943 - in the middle of World War II. It told the life story of the well-known and popular "Liar Baron" Hieronymus von Münchhausen - as was fitting for a film commissioned by the Minister of Propaganda himself. The film was expressly intended to be an entertainment film and not a propaganda film. The screenplay was written by the writer Erich Kästner, who was actually banned from his profession, under a pseudonym. Despite strict censorship, some dialogues contain potentially subversive statements. For example, Münchausen replies to his servant Christian when the latter, looking at the baron's watch, sais that either the watch must be broken, or time itself: "Time is broken, Christian."
That's all there is to say today, too.
Tal vez no sea el mejor retrato que le he hecho a mi gata, pero me sirve para explicaros una forma rápida de hacer una conversión a B/N con ACR. Lo explica José Mª Mellado en uno de sus libros y os aseguro que el resultado en algunas fotos es espectacular, sin necesidad de dedicarle mucho tiempo, creando una imagen final más contrastada que la original. Los pasos, tras marcar en el panel correspondiente las opciones “quitar aberración cromática” y “perfil de corrección de lente”, son:
1.- En el panel principal, ajustar la exposición para regular el brillo general de los medios tonos (no siempre será necesario)
2.- Convertir a B/N (Escala de grises). Según la versión de ACR que uséis lo encontraréis en el panel HSL/Escala de grises o como una opción en el panel principal.
En el primer caso, el programa hace una mezcla automática de los tonos para la conversión. Tenéis que pulsar en la opción “por defecto” para que todos los deslizadores se pongan a 0.
Si aparece como opción en el panel principal, lo pulsáis para crear el B/N. No tenéis que hacer nada más. En estas versiones los deslizadores de “mezcla de blanco y negro” están a 0 por defecto.
3.- En el panel principal llevar el deslizador de contraste a +100. No os asustéis, sólo es el principio.
4.- Con Alt+clic llevar negros al extremo justo antes de empastar algo de información.
5.- Con Alt+clic llevar blancos al extremo justo antes de que aparezcan quemados.
6.- Regular sombras al gusto.
7.- (Opcional) Aumentar la claridad si queremos dar más profundidad a la imagen (en retrato, valores en torno a 15. En paisajes se pueden usar valores más altos)
8.- (Opcional) Disminuir ligeramente las iluminaciones para recuperar algo de textura en las luces altas (viene bien para la piel).
9.- Si fuera necesario disminuir ligeramente el contraste.
10.- En algunos casos puede ser interesante añadir algo de viñeteado.
Y eso es to… eso es to… eso es todo, amigos.
SSN 23 023 vertrekt aan kop van de 'VSM Christmas Express' onder treinnummer 39394 richting Ede. De loc is de vervanging voor de defecte VSM 23 071. De trein bestaat verder uit 6 balkon rijtuigen en in het midden Blokkendoos rijtuig 8527. Achterop loopt VSM 23 076 mee. Arnhem Centraal, 18 december 2022.
Hoewel we zaterdag 5 maart rond het middaguur weer vanuit de Alpenregio richting de lage landen zouden vertrekken, zou ondanks het korte tijdsbestek om foto's te maken deze dag toch erg succesvol worden. De dag werd begonnen in Niederaudorf waar we eerder die week ook al 's ochtends een kijkje kwamen nemen, helaas met een matig resultaat. Deze ochtend stond er echter wat op de planning en dat betroffen een aantal skitreinen welke allemaal rond hetzelfde tijdstip zouden moeten passeren. Toen we aankwamen op de stek stonden er reeds al een aantal fotografen die vanuit verschillende delen in Duitsland en Oostenrijk ook deze ochtend naar Niederaudorf waren getrokken. Niet lang nadat we alles klaar hadden staan kwam al de eerste klapper van de dag in de verte opdoemen, en dit betrof een trein van Lokomotion met "La Crema" op kop. Deze loc stond voor deze trip nog op het lijstje dus het was wel lekker om deze op het nippertje alsnog af te kunnen strepen.
Nadat Lokomotion de fotografen tevreden had achtergelaten kon nu het wachten beginnen op de eerste skitrein. We hadden inmiddels vernomen dat de eerste skitrein de Urlaubs-Express 1303 vanuit Münster naar St. Anton am Arlberg zou zijn welke werd voortgetrokken door de ietwat opvallende Smartrail 111 057. In principe zou ook het deel van de Urlaubs-Express 1383 vanuit Hamburg-Altona in deze trein moeten zitten, maar vanwege een defect en de bijkomende vertraging reden deze twee treinen apart en werden dus niet in Duitsland gecombineerd. Gelukkig reed het deel met de Smartrail 111 057 uit Münster wel op tijd en zat zelfs al binnen een kwartier op volgafstand van Lokomotion.
Ook kregen we te horen dat de Alpen-Express vanuit Nederland, welke ongeveer twintig minuten achter de Urlaubs-Express zat, helaas met een zwarte Taurus reed en niet met de gehoopte GfF 110 459. De GfF 110 459 had schijnbaar nog steeds geen toelating op Oostenrijkse bodem en moest dus ingewisseld worden voor deze veel saaiere tractie. Dit betekende dus dat de Urlaubs-Express uit Münster de enige echt leuke skitrein zou zijn die we hier in Niederaudorf konden fotograferen, maar gelukkig kwam Lokomotion nogmaals voorbij waardoor dit wel goed gecompenseerd werd.
Zoals gezegd hoefden we na de eerste passage van Lokomotion niet bijster lang te wachten, want zo'n 10 minuten nadat de eerste foto van de dag binnen was, sprong het sein weer op groen richting Kufstein. Enkele minuten later komt er een kort maar zeer bont treintje naar beneden gereden welke zich in het fraaiste ochtendlicht laat zien. Vervolgens is het een kwestie van fotograferen om deze fraaie bonte trein te vereeuwigen...
Het is 8:04 als de Smartrail 111 057 de vele fotografen passeert met op de bok een lachende machinist en aan de haak Urlaubs-Express 1303 vanuit Münster naar St. Anton am Arlberg. Nadat deze foto geslaagd was werd er ondanks de saaie tractie toch gewacht op de Alpen-Express. Echter had Lokomotion nog een verrassing in petto nog voordat de skitrein vanuit Nederland voorbij zou komen!

Op facebook kwam al vroeg een aankondiging van de overbrenging van de NS 1746 die met een defect op Almelo geparkeerd was. RXP reed met de Railadventure 9903 solo richting Overijssel om de lok aan te haken voor een 4 uur durende rit naar Maastricht. Men hield zich goed aan het schema wat voor ritnummer 92106 was ingelegd en stipt optijd komt het geheel onder de Betuweroute door (waar de HSL Waverider met een beladen autotrein net hiervoor het land verlaat...). The walled seaside town of Tenby, on the western side of Carmarthen Bay, in Pembrokeshire, South Wales.
Tenby has a long history. It may have started its career as a Norse settlement but by the 9th-century it was a Welsh stronghold, who attractions were celebrated in a noble Welsh poem in praise of Dinbych-y-pysgod (Tenby of the Fishes).
The Normans seized Tenby and henceforth it become part of "Little England beyond Wales". The castle was built on the headland that juts out between the North Sand and the South Sands. The ruins still crown Castle Hill overlooking Tenby harbour with panoramic views across Carmarthen bay to Worms Head and the Gower Peninsula. Amongst the fragments walls is the Welsh national memorial to Prince Albert, Consort to Queen Victoria, inaugurated by Prince Arthur in 1865.
Tenby become a walled town in the 13-century and the walls were strengthened in 1457 and again during the Armada scare in 1588. The line of walls is best seen from the South Parade where the main gate with its remarkable five-arched entrance, is well preserved. During the Civil War the town was captured by the Parliamentarians in 1644 and retaken in 1648 after defecting during the Second Civil War. It was twice bombarded from the sea.
Wealthy Victorians later provided the finance to develop the town into one of Britain's most attractive holiday resorts. They came to Tenby for the good of their health, but it was the birth of the coming railway in 1866 which saw the growth of tourists.
Tenby's 15th century Tudor Merchant's House is the oldest furnished residence in the town. Standing on Quay Hill, between the harbour and Tudor square, its authentic furniture and fittings recreate the atmosphere of the period and illustrate the way a successful Tudor merchant and his family would have live. Three of the interior walls bear the remains of early Frescoes. Owned and managed by the National Trust, the house is open between March and October.
St Catherine's Fort lies on a small island just off Tenby's South Beach. It was built in the 1860s to protect the Pembrokeshire coast from possible invasion by France. There are gun embrasures down both the Northern and Southern sides. It was never called to action and was eventually sold and has been many things since including a zoo.

Otro de los defectos, es, que si algo nos atrae visualmente o emocionalmente, sentimos la necesidad de intentar capturar la esencia que aquel lugar u objeto nos esta transmitiendo...
Possibly one of the greatest defects in human behavior is betrayal. Antonym of loyalty, one of the best virtues of a human being. Those who have been betrayed will understand my anger that day. My gaze, almost as if it were his, could read the damage caused. The moral betrayal twinned with the economic one is an explosive cocktail for the soul. And that it came from a friend, made him almost indigestible. I remember imagining revenge, it was liberating. No doubt the traitor does not hesitate to do so, because it is in his genetics, there is no fault in them. But for those of us who do not have such despicable behaviors, it is not easy to act with the same violence. While revenge has a sweet taste, it also means becoming people we are not. The implication of this type of action should have some kind of punishment and was willing to do so. Posiblemente uno de los mayores defectos en el comportamiento humano sea la traición. Antónimo de lealtad, una de las mejores virtudes de un ser humano. Los que han sido traicionados entenderán mi ira ese día. Mi mirada, casi como si fuera la de él, se podía leer el daño causado. La traición moral hermanada con la económica es un cóctel explosivo para el alma. Y que viniera de un amigo, lo hizo casi indigesta. Recuerdo imaginar la venganza, fue liberador. Sin duda el traidor no duda en hacerlo, porque está en su genética, no hay culpa en ellos. Pero para aquellos de nosotros que no tenemos comportamientos tan despreciables, no es fácil actuar con la misma violencia. Si bien la venganza tiene un sabor dulce, también significa convertirse en personas que no somos. La implicación de este tipo de acción debería tener algún tipo de castigo y estaba dispuesto a hacerlo. Solo la mirada contemplativa de mi querida amiga, provocó en mí algún tipo de cuestionamiento de lo imaginado. La calma lentamente volvió a mí.

Op 21 september 2019 viert Modeltreincenter 's Hertogenbosch haar 10 jarige bestaan. Vorig jaar organiseerde deze winkel "Den Bosch onder stoom", waarbij de 01 1075 en 65 018 van de Stoom Stichting Nederland acte de présence gaven. Dit jaar waren er maar liefst 4 stoomlocomotieven aangekondigd, met als een bonus een "23 treffen" in 's Hertogenbosch.
Helaas kan vanwege een defect de 01 1075 niet aanwezig zijn, en is in de 2225 van SMMR een vervanger gevonden voor Den Bosch onder stoom 2019. Andere aanwezige locomotieven zijn de 23 023, 23 071 en 23 076.
Met aanvoertrein 39384 passeert de 23 023 van de Stoom Stichting Nederland vanuit Rotterdam naar 's-Hertogenbosch ter hoogte van Biezenmortel de aanwezige fotografen, terwijl achterop de 2225 mee rolt...
This is a preliminary version of the Horsehead Nebula LRGB. So I shot this target two nights in a row, first with a red and luminance (mono brightness only) filters then the following night with green and blue filters. Celestron RASA 8 telescope (400mm focal length, f/2) on a Celestron CGEM2 EQ mount, QHY268M mono camera, Astronomik filters, PHD2 guiding, all controlled by NINA software. There are lots of problems with this shot, mostly from my cables causing ugly defects on the stars, and the cables moving between filters (and with the meridian flip). I am going to try to fix some of these problems with editing, but this is before I try.

Herodotus (c. 484 BC – c. 425 BC) was an ancient Greek historian who was born in Halicarnassus in the Persian Empire (modern-day Bodrum, Turkey). It's been raining every day I'm off from work lately, so instead of taking photos, I figured I play around with photos I already have.
This is the kind of world I would like to fly around in if I could fly. A world full of color and sunshine, and a bit fuzzy to hide any defects out there :)

This poor blackbird has a defect! She has spent most of the year in our garden, but is clearly shunned by the others. What can have happened to her? I have spent a reasonable amount of time trying to get a decent photo of her, but she is quite camera shy!!

Evening view of Trencin, Slovakia, an experience marred by engine troubles of my rental car. Why is it that EVERY car I've rented for the past 2 years have mechanical problems? It's getting really insane, from old clunkers in the Caribbean or Greek islands to newer models in the western countries, international chains and local operations alike, are they not maintaining them or deliberately renting defects? Or is some hostile power hacking their computer systems? In most cases I ended up arriving at my destination, but not being sure if I could make it to my booked accommodation takes the pleasure out of traveling.
Op Koningsdag 27 april 2018 werd koers gezet naar Spellen om de fraaie 218 396 eindelijk eens af te strepen.
In maart 2017 heeft Brohltalbahn de 218 396 aangeschaft. Deze werd december 2017 in huisstijl geschilderd. Voorheen was de V200 vaste tractie van de aluminiumtrein (Spellen - Koblenz), deze raakte echter onherstelbaar defect. Sindsdien verschenen er diverse loc's voor de alutrein. Onder andere de Andreas Voll 215 082, Mietlok V160 002 en de eigen 295 049.
Brohtalbahn 218 396 met rongenwagens, beladen met aluminiumblokken, van Spellen (Voerde) naar Koblenz-Lützel, steekt over de fabriekssporen van kolencentrale STEAG bij Duisburg-Walsum.

Vandaag hoorde ik op het laatste moment dat er een paar uur zouden uitvallen op school. Snel werd en plan gemaakt om de ochtend mee te vullen. Aanvankelijk zou dat de Bentheimroute worden, aangezien er een paar leuke treinen in aantocht waren. Al snel werd duidelijk dat daar weinig van terecht zou komen, omdat er rond Assel geen treinverkeer mogelijk was door een defecte bovenleiding. Dat zou betekenen dat goederen omgeleid zouden worden. Daarom besloot ik om ergens tussen Amersfoort en Zwolle te gaan staan, om wat treinen te klikken op stekken waar die normaal gesproken niet te zien zijn. Zo gezegd zo gedaan, en even later kwam ik aan in Nijkerk en werd er richting de stek gelopen.
Gelukkig zat het weer ook eens mee; Na een lange periode van regen en bewolking begon de ochtend zo goed als strakblauw. Eerst kwam Strukton langs met wat ballastwagens en een stopmachine, die werd natuurlijk ook meegeklikt. Daarna volgde Metrans, maar toen had mijn camera er weinig zin in. De echte knaller moest nog komen, hopelijk zou het dan wel goed gaan!
Ondertussen kwamen er ook steeds meer wolken opzetten, waardoor het spannend zou worden of de trein in de zon zou passeren. Even later sloot de overweg, en kon er toch tevreden afgedrukt worden!
De klok tikt 12:39 als ČD Cargo 193 585 de hoek om komt scheuren met aan de haak een beladen longrailstrein, richting Amersfoort en uiteindelijk, na een locwissel, naar Crailloo.

Reden was een defecte 6400.
Met de leuke oranje RTS Eamos'n wordt gewacht op de verbindingsboog (zogenaamde Z-Lijn) richting Zevenaar

The following narrative is absolutely wrong. No cell phone was lost and found .But the illusion was fun while it lasted.
As my husband packed up the car after a long day of photographing Bald eagles at Conowingo Dam, Maryland, I took a few last pictures in very low light expecting to delete them later. This eagle was perched high above examining something in its talons. I can picture some poor soul leaning out over the railing to capture a picture, perhaps of the sunrise that morning, only to have their phone slip from their hand and splash into the Susquehanna. How and why the eagle nabbed it is a bit of a mystery since most phones sink. Perhaps it was in a shallow spot and the eagle noticed it reflecting light. Whether the eagle was taking a selfie or texting, I cannot tell, but it certainly seemed to be concentrating on its unusual find! :)

NS Flirt 2209 is onderweg naar de werkplaats in Maastricht voor het vervangen van een defect raam.
Het voormalige kantoor van DSM op de achtergrond heeft inmiddels een andere bestemming gekregen, werken en wonen. De letters DSM zijn al vervangen door Pitground

In not very suitable lighting conditions, SU42-521 leads a delayed Regio train from Gdynia Główna to Hel. The smokescreen created by the locomotive could be seen for kilometers and the entire train was barely able to make it up the hill located just after the stop in Swarzewo. The defect (broken turbocharger) also caused the delay, as the train was picking up one or two minutes between each stop.

Op zaterdag 11 juli werd er weer een dagje op pad gegaan met als hoofddoel wederom de Coevorden-shuttle.
Door werkzaamheden tussen Zwolle & Putten moest de trein omrijden via Flevoland om uiteindelijk in de Rotterdamse Havens te komen. Dus werd er naar Zwolle gereden om een maat op te pikken & werd er richting Lelystad gereden.
Doordat ik weet dat er op de Emmerlijn een verklikker zit bij Ommen werd al snel duidelijk wanneer de trein vanuit Coevorden ging vertrekken. Vlak daarna kwam de melding vanuit Gramsbergen dat de E01 weer voor de trein zat, deze loc heeft een paar weken aan de kant gestaan vanwege een defecte compressor. Om de E01 te vervangen werd tijdelijk de 101001 van TCS ingezet.
Na ongeveer ander half uur wachten kwam het bericht dat de trein door Lelystad was, het kon dus niet lang meer duren. Vlak voordat de trein kwam passeerde een Intercity richting het noorden, maar het volgende gevaar lag al op de loer.
Een grote wolk kwam al snel voor de zon te zitten maar vlak voordat de trein door de bocht heen kwam rijden kwam de zon toch nog achter de wolk vandaan. En toen de achteroplopende 101001 in beeld kwam verdween de zon weer achter een wolk.
Gelukkig liep het dus toch goed af als hier de E01 met de Coevorden-shuttle 50419 met achterop de 101001 de drie fotografen bij de Kleine Praambult passeert langs de fraaie Oostvaardersplassen.

Four YN2 EMD's hustle a freight train westbound over the defect detector at milepost PLE 0.2. Most of my photos from this era didn't turn out very good so I'm happy I picked this lash-up to accidentally take a decent shot.
Los mediocres abundan; son la mayoría y a ellos no les gusta que nadie sobresalga. Si haces algo te criticarán, tratarán de resaltar los defectos de tu trabajo pero difícilmente reconocerán tus objetivos. Define tus objetivos, lucha por ellos y si hablan mal de ti, no te inmutes.

Op zondag 11 december belandde een ICMm treinstel in de treinserie 8100. Dit waarschijnlijk om een defecte SNG op te kunnen vangen. Tot eind 2017 was ICMm een vertrouwd beeld in de sprinterdienst tussen Groningen en Zwolle. Onder andere door de lange afstand tussen bepaalde stations was dit treinstel naar mijn mening uitermate geschikt voor deze treindienst. Sinds 2018 rijdt er planmatig SNG op deze treindienst en is het comfort op deze sprinterdienst er flink op achteruit gegaan. Toch wil er met regelmaat weleens afwijkend materieel op deze treindienst belanden. Zo werd eind 2020 & 2021 nog met Sandite SGMm gereden en in de herfst van 2022 met een treinstel SLT.
NSR ICMm 4077 halteert hier op station Groningen Europapark als Sprinter 8170 naar Zwolle.
