"We live in a strange and wondrous age of miracles. By harnessing the gravitational power of a planet, men discovered how to travel further, faster, and finally to walk on the moon."

Heavy man. Just frickin' heavy.

"....A case in point is...a switch that fails to function. It immediately radiates small waves of irritation that stimulate larger currents of despair."

So, so true. Many are the times I've wanted to do myself in after pressing the "On" button of a small appliance only to find it not working.

From a series of circa-1960s D.I.Y. books called "Easi-Bild" that were published by a fellow named Donald Brann. In the beginning of each one, he wrote a little homily that tried to link up his own Confucius-like wisdom with whatever Easy Bild project was at hand.

So there would be a couple of paragraphs where he waxed poetic about some general concept essential to the good life, and then there would be a paragraph where he'd try to make you think you'd never done better by yourself than you did the moment you decided, say, to purchase the Easy Bild book on building a plywood bar in your basement.

A tragically overlooked 20th-century Thoreau was Mr. Brann.

"Don't allow bathroom congestion to become a daily irritant."

See "Peace of Mind in One Lesson", the section discussing tensions that mount and then explode.

...maybe I can keep my arm from shaking, and thus keep my cabeza in focus!

"Those who need it the most, frequently find relaxing a difficult part of living. Almost before they realize what is happening, tensions mount, then explode. "

And then your wife, your three children, your mother-in-law, your two dogs, and your next door neighbor are all lying face down in your back yard as you explain to the law enforcement officers how your gun went off while you were cleaning it.

To reach distant places, one first has to take the first step.

Seeing as I went out last night and didn't return till the very early hours of the morning, I slept for most of the morning. Most of my day has been spent editing, writing, reading and playing Mass Effect 3. I then noticed the huge pile of dishes waiting to be washed.

I will be the first to admit. I am a bad mix of laziness and untidiness, meaning that most of the time, my flat is in bit of a state and I am too lazy to do anything about it. But what always happens is I force myself to wash the dishes, but at the start find that it is not a difficult task at all. In fact, the hardest step in that process was the first, getting up and washing the dishes.

This can be true in all situations. There are difficult actions to take in this life, but the hardest part in these actions are starting them.

I like this one in black and white.

This still captured in the Mudhumalai Forest in Tamilnadu on my Way back from Ooty.

The bird looks nice, but gourmet meat pellets are tasty.

Day 160!-First letter of the new year 2016.

I had been writing it in my head for a day and half and finally found the time to write it out. I love doing this as it is something I have always done and I love writing too.

Cant be a 365 without a letter or two spread about...

Last week of vacation before school begins Saturday (though to be fair, I will begin working on things starting Monday, Stats practice and readings to prepare for classes)

You can understand nothing about art, particularly modern art, if you do not understand that imagination is a value in itself.

"Every year, over 11% of all houses constructed are built by people in their spare time for their own occupancy. Colonists who built this nation built their own homes....if others can, why can't you?"

Because you are a weak-willed, pinko-commie klutz incapable of nailing your own johnson to a door.
