This group of nebulae is located in the constellation Auriga. The bright blue reflection nebula is vdB31. In 1966 Sidney van den Bergh published a catalog of 158 reflection nebulae.
As the name implies, reflection nebulae are clouds of dust that reflect the light of a nearby star or stars. They appear blue because the nebula more efficiently scatters blue light. This is the same reason why our sky appears blue.
The other objects of interest are three dark nebulae, cataloged by Edward Barnard as B26, B27 and B28. Starting in about 1919 Barnard photographed and cataloged 370 dark nebulae.
A dark nebula is a dense interstellar cloud that obscures the light of objects behind it. The clouds are composed of very small dust particles, coated with frozen carbon monoxide and nitrogen. These dark clouds are spawning regions for stars and planets.

Cosmic dust clouds sprawl across a rich field of stars in this region the northern boundary of Corona Australis. Probably less than 500 light-years away and effectively blocking light from more distant, background stars in the Milky Way, the densest part of the dust cloud is about 8 light-years long. Magnificent globular star cluster NGC 6723 at the top of frame appears to be part of the group, but actually lies nearly 30,000 light-years away, far beyond the Corona Australis dust clouds.
The globular cluster is NGC6723. NGC 6726, NGC6727 and IC4812 are blue reflection nebulae, and NGC6729 surrounds the variable star R Corona Australis and varies in brightness with the star.

(April 19, 2010) "Sounds like Universe" was a special concert at the Deep Space of the Ars Electronica Center. The "Klangwerkstatt" of the Musikschule Linz played works by Arvo Pärt, Johann Sebastian Bach, Karl Heinz Stockhausen and others. The AEC provided "Uniview", an impressive work of 3D animation that shows the entire known universe.

αCrux no céu de inverno, ontem. ⭐🔭
É a estrela mais brilhante da constelação de Crux (Cruzeiro do Sul). Trata-se da "base" da cruz, que aponta sempre para o Pólo Sul e que serve como orientação de navegação desde tempos remotos.
Alpha Crucis é a 13ª estrela mais brilhante do céu. De acordo com sua paralaxe, está localizada a aproximadamente 320 anos-luz (99 parsecs) da Terra.
Embora visualmente pareça ser uma única estrela, a Acrux é um sistema estelar múltiplo composto por pelo menos três estrelas.
Temperatura: 27 000 K - 30 000 K, muito quente!
Curiosidade: Acrux é uma das estrelas da bandeira do Brasil, e representa o estado de São Paulo.

Trata-se de um aglomerado aberto de estrelas na constelação de Escorpião. O primeiro observador a registrar a existência do aglomerado foi Ptolomeu (cientista grego que viveu em Alexandria) ainda no século II, descrevendo-o como a "nebulosa que segue o ferrão do Escorpião".
O astrônomo francês Charles Messier catalogou o aglomerado como Messier 7 em 1764.
É possível observá-lo a olho nu sob boas condições de visualização, e com a visão periférica, é facinho.
Consiste-se de 80 estrelas e sua distância em relação à Terra é de 800 anos-luz. Sua extensão real é de 18 a 20 anos-luz.
Aproxima-se radialmente da Terra a uma velocidade de 14 km/s e sua estrela mais brilhante é uma supergigante amarela de classe espectral G8 e magnitude aparente 5,6.
Suas estrelas mais azuis e quentes pertencem à classe espectral B6, de magnitude aparente 5,9.
O aglomerado, apesar de ser aberto, exibe um núcleo ligeiramente mais denso.

With data from my STL 4020 camera and two different scopes, TMB 130 mm and 14 inch SCT, this is one of the longer images I have taken....Over 12 hours of total exposure time
I have shot many targets with several focal lengths.
Due that, I will publish some of my images as an image sets, with different field of view and detail levels. The fractal nature of our universe stands out nicely by this way and it will make the orientation more easy.
Many times, it's difficult to understand the image scale of astronomical images.
Due that, I have added a Moon circle in the images to show the scale in a sky.
The full Moon has an angular size of ~30 arc minutes, that's equal to ~0,5 degrees..

This is an image of the gas and dust which prevails in the region that borders Scorpius and Ophiuchus. This dust and gas is excited and blown into twisted shapes by the strong stellar radiation of the nearby stars.

This is the second time I've imaged M42 as a bit of a go after a main session, this time it was less than an hour before the dawn twilight. The resolution is a bit muted due to its low altitude in the southwestern sky. I shall have to have a proper go at it soon!

In "Deep Space", you can experience far-away, unknown and historical places. The spectrum of projects on display in Deep Space ranges from artistic works that utilize a wide array of graphic techniques and approaches all the way to interactive storytelling, from architectural and art historical visualizations to images shot by state-of-the-art cameras positioned in outer space. The technological heart of Deep Space consists of eight 1080p HD- and Active Stereo-capable Barco Galaxy NH12 projectors. The images are projected onto mammoth 16x9-meter displays mounted on the wall as well as in the floor.

M33, commonly known as the Triangulum Galaxy is one of the closest galaxies to our own Milky Way Galaxy. This image shows its classical spiral shape with many arms radiating out from the center. Star forming regions are red-pink due to their ionized hydrogen content. New stars are bluish while older stars are more yellow-red.

Meet NGC 1313, a peculiar barred spiral galaxy located 15 million light-years away in the constellation Reticulum. Unlike most spiral galaxies, NGC 1313 appears distorted and asymmetrical, possibly due to past gravitational interactions or internal instabilities.
