Saturday, June 18, 2022, Eastside College Preparatory School, East Palo Alto - In June 2022, Canopy hosted "Deeply Rooted", an event celebrating 25 years of connecting communities and trees. Featuring keynote speaker Dr. Nalini Nadkarni, emcee Joe Simitian, and eight tree champion honorees representing key groups that have contributed to the success of Canopy of the years, this event with our nearest and dearest was a happy occasion as the first in-person Canopy gala since 2019.

I started my first project for my therapeutic color theory class. We had to make Tints (pure color + white) , Tones( pure color + grey) and Shades(pure color + black) of our chosen pure color. I chose Orange Lake Deep... I didn't know that you make brown by mixing orange and black together. Just a fun tidbit that I know now.
Just around the corner from the waterfalls in Deep Creek, in Bryson City, NC within the confines of Great Smoky Mountains National Park are some amazing rapids. In fact, this part of the park is very popular for tubing. For those with the camera and tripod, it's also fantastic for blurred water shots like this. I opted to go B&W on this shot to get a more abstract artsy quality to it.
A view from the road of the Deep Cove entrance. All the wood is handsplit from redcedar driftwood. Mortise and tenon joinery with hardwood pegs. All the metalwork is hand forged by a local blacksmith.
My first try of veggie menu for vegetarian festival this year. It wasn't easy to prepare but it's easy to cook! ^__^ It was kind of seasoned dough then soak fried in vegetable oil. It's yummy but fatty as well!!!

The "lower" forest - another type of woods, deep and beautiful. The complicated terrain makes it impossible to do the usual forest maintenance, so it stays untouched by human hand for decades. Following the brook, you can go very long alone without seeing another people.

Nuestro pobre JOHNNY DEEP fue un aviso de esos en los cuales hay que actuar de inmediato.
La señora que nos dio el aviso cuida de una colonia amenazada por otros vecinos que los estaban envenenando y matando con la ayuda de perros para deshacerse y "despejar" la zona de gatos. Johnny Deep, llegó a nosotros con heridas de mordeduras y en un estado lamentable, con una pata fracturada y cubierto de heridas abiertas…
Ahora está en el refugio, a dado positivo a inmunodeficiencia, lo que lo ha convertido en una adopción casi imposible, a pesar de que ser positivo no cambia en nada. Es una enfermedad solo contagiosa entre felinos.
Johnny Deep es un gato cariñoso y dócil, de carácter tranquilo y fácil de manejar. Cojea un poco, pues su pata soldó mal. Es una fractura antigua. Es un gato feliz, siempre ha sido casero ya que la desgracia de su vida empezó el dÃa que su dueña se mudó y lo dejó en la calle junto con otros gatos confiando en que sabrÃa buscarse la vida por sà mismo. Pero esto no es real, un gato casero nunca sabe sobrevivir solo, sin la ayuda de las personas porque solo conoce una única forma de supervivencia: ser parte de una familia.
Merece volver a una casa. Caso especial, pero sobre todo injusto.

Now we're in an area of deep cuts in the sandstone and white clay. These are great to explore, but also quite hazardous if you aren't careful. If you are on top, NEVER, step close to the edge of anything, as they are undercut and could easily break off and you could get seriously killed, or fatally injured.
The Wow word of this week is Disheartened.
In this picture the discouragement is represented in the sad glimpse of the little girl.
Even the mouth mirrors her unhappiness.
The day when I decided to took this picture my sister was really disheartened because she felled down many times from her new bike.
The picture was taken in my bedroom when I was just arrived from the soccer field.
I found her on my bed with a deep wretched sight.
I choose to use the black and white shot because it portrays the emotions in the best way.
The focus of this picture is all in her face that if could speak would say "I will never be able to ride my bike".
The Alpine Lakes Wilderness does its very best to live up to its name sake. The massive Mt. Daniel on the left and Cathedral Rock on the right.
