Back from our break, and the hollyhock that is taller than me, and had just one flower open when we left now has a dozen deep purple flowers. And evidence on the path that some are already over. A spectacular but fleeting life.

I've been trying for a while to work more with fog. It always gives scenes a looming and ominous feel which I quite like but unfortunately, I never knew of a good area to photograph it. After a brief snowfall today, the ground was coated in a thin layer of white. A trench had been dug in my backyard and exposed a line of dirt which caught the snow creating a white line through the yard. When I saw the compositing elements of the fog, the trees, and the lines, I knew that the right components had fallen in place for a photograph.
