Mark of Falworth has fond memories of the annual New Year's ball at the Palace of Lorean. Before the ascension of the evil Queen Galainir, it was a tradition of the Princes of Loreos to hold a fête in anticipation of the new season.

Anyone who was anyone was to be there, dressed in their very best. The Prince was usually in excellent humor during the festivities, happily reminiscing the glorious feats of his knights and armies.

It was a time to remember great events, battles, brave deeds and glorious conquests of times past. But it was also a time to look forward to what adventures and daring exploits the future held. Little did Mark realize how much the world, and his life, would change in the next year...

My entry to my LCC Brawl vs. colobustaco.

Since Mark is in desperate straits in the depths of the shade I thought something from the past would make more sense for the category of New Year's celebration, Roawia-style!

been getting myself into a right two and eight these past few months due to so many changes going on that I didn't really want/plan for. Now don't get me wrong none of them are very big things but they did/do impact on my life as helen. The first issue was being made redundant last year twice from the same company, this meant I had to decide if Helen was going to be kept secret as best as possible from the new bosses. in the end I told them and had no issues, then my neighbours decided to sell up, great once again I have to decide to meet them head on or just let them discover Helen from behind twitching curtains. And then of course our current situation with covid-19 that has totally killed my social life.

Well Friday the new neighbours moved in. We had already bumped into them a month ago and they seemed ok. Yesterday I was in guy mode just because really no real reason, other than probably not feeling comfortable with new faces..

Today I woke up a bit pissy in right mood with a grumpy head. I pottered around then decided to get dressed and as I am back to work tomorrow I decided Helen was being let free.

I got ready and went for a look around the garden in the hope the neighbours might see me but they are late risers it seems , And so I went for a walk and popped into see my parents as we are now allowed to do so.. we spent a couple of hours catching up then I went home. I made so many trips up and down my garden trying to bump into the new arrivals that my feet began to hurt..

And then I spied .them weeding the drive, this was my big chance off I went to put stuff into my shed thus passing them. Would you believe it they didn't even acknowledge me. Yet another trip to the shed this time I caught the husband on his way back to the house, now was my chance.

"Afternoon how was your first night in the new house?" I said. Then we just chatted like normal people do. YAY all that worrying for no reason seems I shouldn't get any odd looks and awkward questions now. No doubt they will have a good giggle about and tell everyone they know but that's not a problem.

Just got to get my work mojo back now. I think the neighbour thing and not having a social life at the moment is amplifying a few work niggles that I need to decide if they are worth getting on with or looking for a job closer to home and finishing earlier. That will normally mean starting earlier and possible weekend work..

High on the sea lashed cliffs a little south of Portpatrick, perch the atmospheric ruins of Dunsky Castle. This rocky promontory has been a fortified stronghold way back into history, maybe as far back as the Iron Age.

According to the Book of Leinster, the former name for Portpatrick was Port Rig (Portree), meaning the Port of the King and a strong candidate for the location of Rerigonium, the lost royal town of the Novantae named by Ptolemy in his 2nd century map of Britain.

During the medieval period, a castle has stood on this spot since at least the 14th century, built by the Adairs of Kinhilt. This castle was attacked and burnt in 1489 by McCulloch of Myrton in retaliation for the murder of Dionysius of Hamilton by William Adair of Dunskey.

The current tower house was rebuilt by the Adairs in 1510, which they inhabited until 1620, when it was sold to Hugh Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery. He extended the castle before it passed to the Blair family in 1648, but by the end of the 17th Century it had been abandoned and was already a ruin.

In keeping with the castle’s sinister appearance, tales of dark deeds carried out within its walls abound. The abbot of Soulseat Abbey was imprisoned and tortured in the castle to force him to sign away the abbey lands. The castle is said to also be the home of a brownie known as the Hairy Man.

A story, said to date from the 14th century tells of how the castle was occupied by the cruel Walter de Curry, who took offence to an outspoken Irish piper that he had taken prisoner and forced into service as a minstrel and jester. The piper was thrown into the castle dungeons, where he was left to starve, but found his way into a secret passageway that lead to a cave on the shore. The cliffs here are steep and high, preventing his escape and he died a slow and lingering death. His ghost is said to still march back and forth along the passage from where the skirl of his pipes can be heard above the crashing of the waves.

Another ghost, that of a nurse maid who accidentally dropped a baby from one of the windows onto the rocks below, is said to also haunt this place. Consumed by guilt, she followed her charge and threw herself from the cliffs.

These crumbling cliff top ruins are certainly romantic and if you are going to encounter a spectre or a brownie, this would be as good a place as any.

Uncovering the Mystery of “Judgment”

February 25, 2018

94

By En Hui, Malaysia

My name is En Hui and I’m 46 years old. I live in Malaysia, and I have been a believer in the Lord for 27 years. In October 2015, I moved to another city to take up a job. My new colleagues were all big fans of Facebook, which they used for chatting, finding new friends, and posting images. Seeing that I didn’t have a Facebook account they set one up for me, and I gradually learned how to go online and use it. Sometimes I would see the postings of some brothers and sisters in the Lord and I’d share them and “like” them. Sometimes I’d post things that praised the Lord or share the Lord’s grace with some of my good friends. Every day I felt that there was fulfillment in my life.

One day in February 2016 when I was browsing one of my good friend’s Facebook page I saw this posting: “We discussed the issue of judgment today in our group. We all said different things but, for the most part, agreed what it means. Someone said: ‘I don’t understand and I don’t dare say any old nonsense because it’s something that God will do in the future and we shouldn’t try and blindly guess.’ Someone else said: ‘Psalm 75:2 says “When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.” Everything that every single person does is being recorded by God, so when the Lord Jesus returns to judge all humans He will reveal our deeds to all as though playing a movie. So we should always be righteous and never do evil in order to avoid God’s judgment of being cast into hell.’ Someone else said: ‘It says in the Bible: “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works” (Rev 20:11–12). From the text we can see that when the Lord Jesus returns in the last days He will set up a giant desk in the sky and will sit behind it. He will then unroll a scroll on it, and, with all of mankind kneeling on the ground, call out the name of every individual and judge each of them one-by-one according to the deeds they have done. Good people will be taken up to the kingdom of heaven by the Lord, while the wicked will be cast into hell.’”

Had a weekend break with my fiancée to Stratford-upon-Avon. Here's the High Street with Hathaway Tea Rooms & Bakery which is a Grade II* listed building and occupies one of the town’s most historic buildings. The building was constructed around 1610, exactly the same time as Shakespeare moved into his retirement home of New Place on Chapel Street.

According to deeds now held by the Shakespeare Archives on Henley Street, in 1728 the property was known locally as The George Inn and was owned by Daniel Yeates of Hampton Lovett who purchased number 19 and 20 High Street for £160.

All the Way in Your Company

www.holyspiritspeaks.org/all-the-way-in-your-company-2/

I

I drift and wander the world,

feeling lost and helpless inside.

Awakened by Your tender words,

I feel I've seen the true light.

I accept the judgment of Your words.

The corruption of man I see.

Reflecting on my own ways,

I find the same nature in me.

In Your company,

there's no fear of the raging storm,

or the loneliness night brings.

In Your company,

I don't fear facing danger,

or hardships from the journey.

After rugged roads of trouble,

I welcome the beautiful spring.

II

I fall deep down in remorse,

grateful that I have been saved.

The great mercy You have shown

allows me to make my way.

When distant, Your words call me.

You protect me from harm, I'm safe.

I rebel and then You hide.

So then I fall in boundless pain.

III

When I return, You show grace,

You smile, holding me close.

When Satan scourges and wounds,

Your warmth heals, consoling me.

When I fall into the devil's grasp,

You share my distress and pain.

I believe that dawn will come,

the sky will be blue again.

In Your company,

there's no fear of the raging storm,

or the loneliness night brings.

In Your company,

I don't fear facing danger,

or hardships from the journey.

After rugged roads of trouble,

I welcome the beautiful spring.

IV

Your words are my life, my Lord.

I relish Your words every day.

When Satan is surrounding me,

Your words give me

wisdom and strength.

When I suffer or when I fail,

Your words lead me

through the hard times.

When I'm feeling down or weak,

Your words sustain and supply.

V

When I encounter trials,

Your words guide me to stand tall.

I live and I talk with You,

no distance between us at all.

In Your company,

there's no fear of the raging storm,

or the loneliness night brings.

In Your company,

I don't fear facing danger,

or hardships from the journey.

After rugged roads of trouble,

I welcome the beautiful spring,

the beautiful spring.

In Your company.

“Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind.

To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue.”

«Greed, hatred, and delusion of every kind are unwholesome. Whatever action a greedy, hating, and deluded person heaps up - by deeds, words, or thoughts - that too is unwholesome. Whatever suffering such a person, overpowered by greed, hatred, and delusion, his thoughts controlled by them, inflicts under false pretexts upon another - by killing, imprisonment, confiscation of property, false accusations, or expulsion - being prompted in this by the thought, ‘I have power and I want power’, all this is unwholesome too.»

Day 300 (v 16.0) - which way from here?

you won't believe this. i got a testimonial. and not only that, i got two. i actually got one on april 11th, and one today and i only found out today, surprise! i'm not only moved, i'm thrilled, i'm excited, i'm psyched. and i've spent all afternoon going through the archives looking for a good enough picture to thank you and

i normally wouldn't have uploaded this, but since this was the only ugly shot i had left that i hadn't posted yet, i will and i would like to dedicate this to jigmé.

thank you sooooo much!!

ox was playing dice against me and kept putting on his poker face so basically i stood no chance. at the end i was a bit disappointed that he didn't let me win even once, so i told him what i thought of his carpet and furniture and how he really needed to change his interior designer. he got all sad and now i feel guilty :(

He Entered Your World

I once waded into the Jordan River. On a trip to Israel, my family and I stopped to see the traditional spot of Jesus’ baptism. It’s a charming place. Sycamores cast their shadows. Birds chirp. The water invites. So I accepted the invitation and waded in to be baptized.

No one wanted to join me so I immersed myself. I declared my belief in Christ and sank so low in the water I could touch the river bottom. When I did, I felt a stick and pulled it out. Well, what do you know–a baptism memento! Some people get certificates or Bibles; I like my stick. It’s about as thick as your wrist, long as your forearm, and smooth as a baby’s behind. I keep it on my office credenza so I can show it to fear-filled people.

When they chronicle their anxieties about the economy or concern about their kids, I hand them the stick. I tell them how God muddied his feet in our world of diapers, death, digestion, and disease. How John told him to stay on the riverbank, but Jesus wouldn’t listen. How he came to earth for this very purpose, to become one of us. “Why, he might have touched this very stick,” I like to say.

As they smile, I ask, “Since he came this far to reach us, can’t we take our fears to him?”

“For our high priest [Jesus] is able to understand our weaknesses. When he lived on earth he was tempted in every way that we are, but he did not sin. Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before God’s throne where there is grace. There we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it” (Hebrews 4:15-16 NCV).

Does this miracle matter? It does if you are bedridden. It does if you battle disease. It does if chronic pain is a part of your life. The One who hears your prayers understands your pain. He never shrugs or scoffs or dismisses physical struggle. He had a human body.

Does this miracle matter? If you ever wonder if God understands you, it does. If you ever wonder if God listens, it does. If you ever wonder if the Uncreated Creator can, in a million years, comprehend the life of a truck driver, housewife, or immigrant, then ponder long and hard the promise of the incarnation. God say: I understand you and I always will.

Are you troubled in spirit? He was, too. (John 12:27)

Are you so anxious that you could die? He was, too. (Matthew 26:38)

Are you overwhelmed with grief? He was, too. (John 11:35)

Have you ever prayed with loud cries and tears? He did, too. (Hebrews 5:7)

Some have pointed to the sinlessness of Jesus as evidence that he cannot fully understand us. After all, if he never sinned, they reason, how could he understand the full force of sin? Simple, he felt it more than we do. We give in! He never did. We surrender. He never did. He stood before the tsunami and never wavered. In that manner, he understands it more than anyone who ever lived.

And then, in his grandest deed, he volunteered to feel the consequence of sin.

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV).

The greatest pain of the cross was the pain of sin. Jesus didn’t deserve to feel the shame, but he felt it. He didn’t deserve the humiliation, but he experienced it. He had never sinned, yet was treated like a sinner. He became sin. All the guilt, remorse, and embarrassment– Jesus understands it.

Does this miracle matter? To the hypocrite, it does. To the person who can’t remember last night’s party it does. To the cheater, slanderer, gossip, or scoundrel who comes to God with a contrite spirit, it matters. It matters because they need to know, “we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:15-16 NIV).

Because Jesus is human, he understands you. Because he is divine he can help you. But he does neither if you don’t go to him. He didn’t remain aloof; why would we? He didn’t keep his distance; why would we keep ours?

Let this be the day you draw near to him. He entered your world so that you could enter his.

What You Needed Most

God is enough. Isn’t this the message of Moses and Joshua and the journey to the Promised Land? Who opened the Jordan River? Who led the people across on dry ground? Who appeared to encourage Joshua? Who brought down the Jericho walls? Who fought for and delivered the people? God!

He cared for his people. Even in the wilderness they never went without provision. He gave them not just food but clothing and good health. Moses once reminded the Hebrews, “Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years” (Deuteronomy 8:4 NIV).

The following phrases were never heard in the wilderness: Oh, bummer, my robe has another rip in it…or…. Hey, new sandals. Where did you get them? There was no want for food; no need for clothing. God provided for them. And God has promised to provide you.

Italien / Trentino - Burgruine Arco

View down to Arco

Blick hinunter nach Arco

Arco Castle (Italian: Castello di Arco, German: Schloss Arch) is a ruined castle located on a prominent spur high above Arco and the Sarca Valley in Trentino, northern Italy.

History

The exact date of its foundation is unknown but it existed at least after the year 1000 AD. The area around Arco was inhabited already before the Middle Ages, the castle was said to have been built by the citizens and only later becoming the property of the local nobles.

The counts of Arco (from Latin arcus, 'bow'), probably of Italian origin (a presumed kinship with the Bavarian counts of Bogen could not be established), were first mentioned in 1124 deed; they temporarily served as liensmen of the Trent prince-bishops. Though they were raised to comital (Grafen) status by the Hohenstaufen emperor Frederick II in 1221, they had to acknowledge the overlordship of the Meinhardiner princely counts of Tyrol in 1272.

The Counts of Arco were expelled by the Prince-Bishops of Trent in 1349, whereafter the castle fell to the Veronese noble house of Scaliger. Nevertheless, they regained the castle in a local uprising, and in 1413 further strengthened their position by obtaining the status of Imperial immediacy from the hands of Emperor Sigismund in 1413. However, in the long run, they could not prevail against the mighty House of Habsburg, rulers of Tyrol since 1363. Arco Castle was captured in 1579, and the counts had to submit to the Habsburgs in 1614. Their estates were officially seized by Emperor Leopold I in 1680.

The castle was later abandoned after a siege by French troops under General Duke Louis Joseph of Vendôme in the course of the War of the Spanish Succession in 1703. A careful restoration began 1986 and following others in more recent years restorations have found a number of frescoes depicting knights and court ladies of medieval times.

(Wikipedia)
