Meissen is a town of approximately 30,000 about 25 km (16 mi) northwest of Dresden on both banks of the Elbe river in the Free State of Saxony, in eastern Germany. Meissen is the home of Meissen porcelain, the Albrechtsburg castle, the Gothic Meissen Cathedral and the Meissen Frauenkirche.

Meissen is sometimes known as the "cradle of Saxony". The city grew out of the early Slavic settlement of Mis(s)ni, named for the small river Mis(s)na. It was founded as a German town by King Henry the Fowler in 929.

Meissen is famous for the manufacture of porcelain, based on extensive local deposits of china clay (kaolin) and potter's clay (potter's earth). Meissen porcelain was the first high quality porcelain to be produced outside of the Orient.

The first European porcelain was manufactured in Meissen in 1710, when the Royal Porcelain Factory was opened in the Albrechtsburg. In 1861, it was moved to the Triebisch river valley of Meissen, where the porcelain factory can still be found today.

The Albrechtsburg, the former residence of the House of Wettin, is regarded as being the first castle to be used as a royal residence in the German-speaking world. Built between 1472 and 1525, it is a fine example of late Gothic style. It was redecorated in the 19th century with a range of murals depicting Saxon history. Today the castle is a museum. Nearby is the 13th-century Gothic Meissen Cathedral (Meißner Dom), whose chapel is one of the most famous burial places of the Wettin family. The hill on which the castle and the cathedral are built offers a view over the roofs of the old town.

Meissen's historical district is located mostly around the market at the foot of the castle hill. It contains many buildings of Renaissance architecture. Also imposing is the view from the 57 metre high tower of the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), situated in the old market-place. This church, not to be confused with the Dresden Frauenkirche, was first mentioned in a 1205 deed issued by Bishop Dietrich II and after a blaze about 1450 rebuilt in the Late Gothic style of a hall church. Its tower hosts the world's first porcelain carillon, manufactured in 1929 on the occasion of the town's 1000-years-jubilee.

Recital: God created the heavens and earth and all things, creating a living environment for man. All things reinforce and depend on each other. Under such a principle, man’s living environment exists and lasts in protection. With such a living environment, man can live and multiply, can live and multiply.

1. For thousands of years, the creek flows in such a quiet, quiet way at the foot of the mountain. Directed by the mountain, the creek returns to its hometown. It merges into a river, and then into a sea, into a sea. Thanks to the watching of the mountain, the creek has never got lost. The creek and the mountain reinforce, neutralize, and depend on each other.

2. For thousands of years, the gale has never changed, changed its habit of roaring, roaring. As usual, it often carries, often carries sand and stones, “visiting” and threatening, threatening the mountain. Yet the mountain has never broken down, never broken down the middle. The mountain and the gale reinforce, neutralize, and depend on each other.

3. For thousands of years, the billow has never rested, never stopped its footsteps of expansion. It howls to the mountain again and again. Yet the mountain has never moved a bit due to, due to its howling. It watches the sea, and thus all things within can live and multiply. Ah … ah… The mountain and the billow reinforce, neutralize, and depend on each other. The mountain and the billow reinforce, neutralize, and depend on each other.

WEEEOOOOOOO~!!!

Yikes, loud siren!

What's going on now?

"Hi! I'm AP* JR from the Paprihaven PD. You can call me JR."

Hi JR!

This is unusual for a show.

Why are all the exit doors being closed...?

"I'm not part of the show. I'm here investigating the disappearance of a performer."

I'm pretty sure most of the Planks performers quickly disappear.

They have no talent!

And the Planks, being cheap, treats us to their first and only attempt at entertainment.

"I see. This performer goes by the name of Carl Boom.** He performed here yesterday."

Carl Boom??

Oh, that was the Swarms creature.

"So, you saw him?"

We not only saw him, we-

THONK!

AAAOOOOO~~!!

"Did you just hit that person with an anvil!?"

No.

I told you that thing wasn't a turnip!

You didn't say that! You just said it was crunchy!

It tasted funny! I told you!

"What in the blue infinity are you talking about??"

...

Nothing.

Nope. Juuuust chatting.

"Did you EAT Carl Boom??"

Eat?

Oh... that's... erm.. disgusting.

Who would do that?

Well I think we just implied-

THONK!

AAAOOOOOO~!!

"You just hit that man with your anvil!!"

No. That was just Pebble Guy.

"Okay, we have the theater sealed and no one is leaving until we get to the bottom of this."

Quick! Rustle programs to cover our whispering!

...programs rustling...

We need a fall guy!

Yeah, someone to take the blame!

A scapegoat!

A whipping boy!

A stooge!

A sucker!

A mug!

A sacrificial lamb!

Would you all shut up!? I nominate Pebble Guy.

Yeah, I mean he's a guy and he's already fallen.

"What's going on! Stop slapping those programs!"

AP JR, we confess!

It was Pebble Guy that done did the deed!

"What did he do!?"

He ate the turnip!

Carl Boom.

Right, he ate Carl Boom!

"I think I'm going to be sick..."

Bon, c'est une pose longue en noir et blanc et en format carré qui plus est, rien d'original donc, on en voit partout en ce moment et de bien meilleure qualité... Mais je tenais à faire au moins une fois ma propre version =)

Well, it's a long exposure, in black and white and square format... nothing original I guess, we can see that kind of shots everywhere these days and in a much better quality... But I wanted to do my own version at least one time =)

I have shown you so many Romanesque churches from Saintonge over the past weeks that I was sure I would end up boring even the most faithful of those who are kind enough to watch my stream... Therefore, I skipped some, and in particular the Saint Quentin church in the village of Chermignac.

However, as I was tidying up, I found these two lovely photos of some beasts and human faces that were so funny and attractive I simply couldn’t throw them away.

Monsters in the Middle Ages were very present, both in the tales people told and in the religious context. Monsters were serious business. They were associated with Evil, Satan, bad deeds, sins, Hell and the like. They were supposed to scare the members of the congregation, and that’s primarily why they were sculpted on churches: as terrifying reminders of what would happen to you if you strayed.

However, from time to time, you encountered someone who also liked to make fun of them monsters, and in the case of this wonderful artist who sculpted at Chermignac, you obtained those lovely, not at all scary creatures that will make you smile, maybe laugh, allowing you to walk away with a slightly more relaxed moral stance on the exacting standards of good and bad that the church was trying to nail into your head... :o)

The Black Deeds of the Kremlin, vol. 1 is a 1953 book of testimonies published in Toronto by the Ukrainian Association of Victims of Russian Communist Terror, with an introduction by Prof. George W. Simpson of the University of Saskatchewan. I found this book in my late parents' house but have yet to read more than a few pages. The stories are too overwhelming.

Crime and Punishment is a masterpiece of Russian literature by Feodor Dostoevsky.

Ever played an RPG game and wondered how the heck that dragon head could fit in your bags?

The deed is done, now I can finally rest.. in peace.

You can see what I did in here www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSh6SETL_EE&t=3s

Have you ever went to a cemetery at night? I did.. You can tell me all about it in the comments.

When I went, the moon was up in the black sky, silent, and the air was surrounding me almost oppressively, but it was weird because it was an immense graveyard. Luckly I was with 4 other friends, so I was somewhat at ease.

Then, we all heard it. It was a baby crying not so far away, followed by a women, also crying.

We tried to get out of there before midnight, thinking creepy stuff happens after that, but it already did.. and in our way back, we encountered some weird creatures in the darkness. The one that stood up was a woman doing witchcraft in front of a tomb.

It was 25 years ago, but I wont forget it for the rest of my life.. i was lucky I was with friends.. just like here, in The Necrotic Horror Show, so, will you come? I can present to you the priest and all the other creatures that inhabit this haunted place that showcase all the dark in Second Life. You can also participate in a hunt that will drive you almost crazy, all around the sim, leading you to the deepest and darkest corners...

You will know all about it in my video.

I'll leave you with horror stories of an old cemetery from my city. It is shrouded in mystery and creepiness amyscrypt.com/haunted-recoleta-cemetery-buenos-aires/

The Necrotic Horror Show, entonces, ¿vendrás?

Fleeting moments and street life in Malacca, Malaysia 🇲🇾.

Captured in a quiet alley off Jonker Street, I became fascinated by this man diligently sweeping the pavement. Malacca holds so many old traditions, but I wonder how many from the younger generation are willing to keep them alive.

Malaysia sits almost right on the Equator, and the sun is usually overhead and harsh, with golden hour over very quickly. One thing I’ve learned is to switch my camera to highlight-weighted metering and just embrace the hard light - expose for the highlights, and let the shadows fall into darkness. An added bonus: you get those nice, rich, saturated colours!

LEGO Build for Global Challenge X for the the Lands of Roawia LEGO Castle game.

------------------------

“As you can see, Durrough Bend Hospital is in a truly sad state of affairs after those nasty Queen’s soldiers ruined so much of it. We couldn’t bring any poor soul here to heal, and this is why Durrough’s main hospital by the Bastion is so badly cramped, hardly anyone can heal properly, very bad for the mind being cramped up with other poor souls moanin’ all the time…”

Lady Seonaid certainly had no problem talking, Caelan noted silently as he watched her animated sales pitch to High Alderman Gillespie, who seemed to blithely take in her high-speed gab like someone interested but only from a distance, which he was…

“And we did have a previous allotment from Grand Duke Cartney, bless his soul, but that only paid for some of the broken windows and all the doors, but the well is still not functionin’, with no wench and needin' a bit a’ dredgin’…”

Ugh, Caelan thought again. Will she not finish? At least he had his glory with him, Lady Kenzie, whom everyone knew by now was his fiancee, as he had proposed so publicly at the grand party the Duke threw in celebration of Lenfald’s Independence. What a mad occasion that was, everyone yelling in joy and cheering “Lenfald Free Forever!” over and over again. The women threw flowers, the gentlemen their hats, and the soldiers and sailors just about everything else…

“And so your honorable High Alderman in order to prepare properly for what God-forbid could be another bloody conflict with the uncouth and heatless Loreesi, we must restore this hospital as overflow for poor Durrough, packed to brim with the sick and healin’ as it is…”

Caelan glanced at his love, so beautiful she shined even on a cloudy day such as this one. Kenzie was listening intently to Lady Seonaid, as if every word mattered, and nodded with her frequently. Caelan wondered to himself how women managed to bond so quickly and find agreement with someone so disagreeable, so long as they were a woman as well.

“How much?” Gillespie suddenly interrupted Lady Seonaid, finally getting to both her point for her, and nearing the end of his own patience to deal with the seemingly never-ending flow of words. Caelan thought to himself that Gillespie didn’t seem like most politicians he knew, and against his better judgement began to admire him a bit.

It was abrupt, and having stopped her train of thought like a cart turned over on High Street, she had to think before finally stating, “I believe the sum of One Thousand Draken will be quite enough to put us in good stead.”

Even the Alderman, used to having people ask him for all sorts of things and amounts of money, was taken aback. “Milady, I would say you are making a joke, except your reputation for not having a sense of humor has preceded you. This amount is simply not possible, not now and not for the foreseeable future. Since we can consider this further repair as a preparation for any potential combat, perhaps I can spare One Hundred Draken from the war chest…”

He never finished as the good lady then launched into a high-energy objection, restating everything she had already said, with the words “urgently needed” a good half-dozen times sprinkled in, and a new insistence on raising taxes to fill the bill.

The High Alderman, up to this point an admirably patient and calm man, began to lose it. “Taxes! Milady, raising taxes in plentiful time of peace is difficult enough, but in these uncertain times, with the Nation so young, we might as well start the riots ourselves and save the time at it!!!”

And this was the moment Sir Caelan was waiting for, lacking only a white horse to ride in on in his moment of saving the day! “Lady Seonaid,” he began plaintively, and glancing at Kenzie, who was already in on the secret, “I believe I have the solution to the problem.”

Both the Alderman and the demanding Headmistress of Durrough Hospital turned to him, surprised and expectant.

He proudly offered a sack of items he had been lugging around these long minutes, and exposed the contents. It was a wealth of gold and silver items, stolen knick knacks and goodies of various value. But it was the leather purse he offered that really mattered. “All recovered from the last few Queen’s Troops caught by my Lenfel Scout Snipers. And in this purse you will find somewhere around five hundred Draken as well.”

Instead of the joy that he thought it would bring, however, Lady Seonaid looked at him hard and stated, “I cannot accept stolen items! And this is blood money, no doubt, as you and your ruffians are so very likely as to put those arrows so deeply in your victims that we are forced to work on them like mad to fix…”

“Milady, let me explain,” he interrupted her, not willing to have his moment of glory diminished, “these items have no names on them, they came from a large stash of booty gathered from all over Roawia so we can’t find their owners, and the thieves were captured alive and unharmed by my men. Normally it would be considered war-booty for the Scouts, but knowing your predicament here, and as your Order healed me a few months ago, I convinced them instead to donate them to your cause. They are yours, and you can accept them with a clear con….”

Before he could finish, the expected joy on Lady Seonaid’s face finally appeared, and taking the sack in hand she wore a huge smile, and immediately offered — Lady Kenzie her deepest gratitude. “What an angel you are Kenzie,” she exclaimed with sudden sweetness, “this will be long remembered! We all know you of course coming from such an excellent family and all, so generous and lovin’.”

Caelan blinked. Had he missed something here?

“Thank you Milady,” Kenzie nodded with grace, “but they are actually a gift from Sir Caelan here…”

“Oh, nonsense Kenzie, we all know brutes like soldiers would never think of something like this themselves, don’t be so modest, we all know who really is behind such generosity…”

This last did not get past him, and not wishing to cause a scene with an objection, all the young Baron could do was exchange bewildered glances with High Alderman Gillespie, who suddenly looked like he badly needed to burst out laughing…

“Besides,” Seonaid suddenly threw in, “we spend so much time patchin’ him up and repairin’ the havoc his soldiers cause that it’s owed anyway. Now my lovely generous patron let me show you what we will do with your beautiful gift…” She grabbed Kenzie by the hand and began to lead her alone toward the garden, and having gotten what she needed for her cause, she left the men behind as if they didn’t exist.

Kenzie only had time to look at Sir Caelan and mouth “I’m so sorry” before being dragged off.

“Did I miss something…was there a thank you buried in there somewhere…”

“Not for you!” the Alderman gave way to his laughter. “Your men could have spent that money on drink, or their women or children, but you all should have known that no good deed…”

“…goes unpunished,” Caelan finished for him, all glory gone with the treasure.

“Well my Baron, tis a fine mess you’ve created,” still he chuckled, “for I must now ask ye a question. Booty declared must be taxed, and you just declared that lot. So, ye have not paid yer taxes on that lot yet, have ye?”

Caelan sourly changed his mind. Gillespie was a politician sure enough….

I praise good thoughts, good words, good deeds and those that are to be thought spoken and done. I do accept all good thoughts, good words and good deeds. I do renounce all evil thoughts, evil words and evil deeds."

Zoroastrianism has changed a great deal throughout its three thousand years of existence. Still, it can be characterized as a belief in the capacity of humans to choose between good and

evil. Good is embodied by the supreme god Ahura Mazda. Human life is an incessant struggle against evil represented by Angra Mainyu.

The Food was collected at the annual 'Circle the Course for Cancer & C.O.P.E.' event.

Lots of names, lots of dates. Feel free to note those that I missed on here. Best viewed all sizes.

I can't help but see Jabba's face or a worm-like creature.

A Macro photo of the abdomen and rainbow-coloured inner wings of Phymateus viridipes, also known as the green milkweed locust or African bush grasshopper.

Milkweed locusts prefer to feed on toxic plants and stay in trees or bushes, as they are sluggish on the ground. They exude a noxious foam and rustle their wings when in danger, which is poisonous if ingested. The bright colours serve as a warning that they are toxic.

When I saw this woman feeding squirrels in the rain, her countenance seemed so contrary to her deed that I had to approach and speak to her. She said:

“I’m worried about the hawk.”

“The hawk?”

“Yes. I saw a hawk earlier.”

Eastern Lightning, The Church of Almighty God was created because of the appearance and work of Almighty God, the second coming of the Lord Jesus, Christ of the last days. It is made up of all those who accept Almighty God's work in the last days and are conquered and saved by His words. It was entirely founded by Almighty God personally and is led by Him as the Shepherd. It was definitely not created by a person. Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. God's sheep hear God's voice. As long as you read the words of Almighty God, you will see God has appeared.

26.-

26 .-

Always be aware of trying to see if you do not mind. Search to find, not search and be found. Simple terms in the same sentence is contradictory to finish in the same order.

Being on the verge of extreme desperation is starting to walk around the beginning of the path of peace, hope, illusion, calm ... and absolute terms is that they are nothing without their opposition. It is deception and fear that only you can dress up the search for the true meaning of words, what is autocomplete by its antonym.

With this in mind we must be aware that when we create more underground there is always a solution to climb up and look in that light that you are forbidden in the dark.

You are more alone, the more problems you have when you think there is no solution ... the closer we come to the opposite pole.

And be a day like today (yesterday) should keep in mind that life as we know it is a simple game that is played only once. So be strong to keep playing in this game, board that we call life, which sometimes is so deplorable and sometimes wonderful.

Stop suffering or even better, scroll for that suffering, walking on his way ... he will lead you to a better place ... a place where the end of the road is the beginning of a new one. Toward something better than just the well-known.

Enjoy your time belongs to you ... think times like this may never happen again in front of you ... Today is your day (yesterday ).... the day when the world gave you to know ... happy birthday, you deserve the best.

Watson Island is a neighborhood and man-made island in Biscayne Bay, in Miami, Florida, United States. Immediately east of the Central Business District and Arts & Entertainment District neighborhoods of Greater Downtown Miami, it is connected to the mainland and South Beach, Miami Beach by the MacArthur Causeway.

The island was deeded to the city in 1919 with the restriction that it only be used for public or municipal purposes. The city gave it to the state and the state deeded it back to the city with similar restrictions - both in the 1940s. In 1979 the city attempted to circumvent this prohibition by claiming that the underwater land surrounding the island is a preserve and Watson Island need not be protected as per the deed, as a park, or for public ownership and use.

The island had a name change from Causeway Island to Watson Island, named for John W. Watson, Sr., who was Mayor of Miami 1912-1915 and 1917-1919. In 1932 Watson Island was considered for the site of Miami's Pan-American Exposition, a World's Fair, and "International Merchandise mart." By the end of the 1940s, however, the site of the Exposition, now called Interama, was moved North to where Oleta River State Park is today.

A Goodyear Blimp base was located on Watson Island from 1930 to 1978, initially on the east side of the island and later on a new landfill area to the west. Goodyear moved the base to Opa-Locka Airport after failing to agree on lease renewal terms with the city. Vestiges of the old base still remain such as the imprint of the mooring circle and a paved path for a small tram that would transport passengers to the airship.

In 2003 Jungle Island theme park relocated to Watson island. There has been continued controversy stemming from Jungle Island's inability to meet the financing terms it had made with the local municipalities when the move was approved. Local elected officials had and continue to bail out Jungle Island with tax dollars. The Miami Children's Museum also relocated to the island in 2003. The State of Florida offered a site in the Island Gardens project on Watson Island to host the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) Permanent Secretariat.

As of March 2006 the Florida Department of Transportation was planning to construct a tunnel from the Port of Miami on Dodge Island under the main shipping channel to the MacArthur Causeway on Watson Island. On May 24, 2010, construction began on the Port of Miami Tunnel; it was completed on August 3, 2014.

Miami Beach is a coastal resort city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It was incorporated on March 26, 1915. The municipality is located on natural and man-made barrier islands between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, the latter of which separates the Beach from the mainland city of Miami. The neighborhood of South Beach, comprising the southernmost 2.5 square miles (6.5 km2) of Miami Beach, along with downtown Miami and the Port of Miami, collectively form the commercial center of South Florida. Miami Beach's estimated population is 92,307 according to the most recent United States census estimates. Miami Beach is the 26th largest city in Florida based on official 2017 estimates from the US Census Bureau. It has been one of America's pre-eminent beach resorts since the early 20th century.

In 1979, Miami Beach's Art Deco Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Art Deco District is the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world and comprises hundreds of hotels, apartments, and other structures erected between 1923 and 1943. Mediterranean, Streamline Moderne, and Art Deco are all represented in the District. The Historic District is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the East, Lenox Court on the West, 6th Street on the South, and Dade Boulevard along the Collins Canal to the North. The movement to preserve the Art Deco District's architectural heritage was led by former interior designer Barbara Baer Capitman, who now has a street in the District named in her honor.

Miami Beach is the 26th largest city in Florida based on official 2017 estimates from the US Census Bureau. It has been one of America's pre-eminent beach resorts since the early 20th century.

In 1870, a father and son, Henry and Charles Lum purchased the land for 75 cents an acre. The first structure to be built on this uninhabited oceanfront was the Biscayne House of Refuge, constructed in 1876 by the United States Life-Saving Service at approximately 72nd Street. Its purpose was to provide food, water, and a return to civilization for people who were shipwrecked. The next step in the development of the future Miami Beach was the planting of a coconut plantation along the shore in the 1880s by New Jersey entrepreneurs Ezra Osborn and Elnathan Field, but this was a failed venture. One of the investors in the project was agriculturist John S. Collins, who achieved success by buying out other partners and planting different crops, notably avocados, on the land that would later become Miami Beach. Meanwhile, across Biscayne Bay, the City of Miami was established in 1896 with the arrival of the railroad and developed further as a port when the shipping channel of Government Cut was created in 1905, cutting off Fisher Island from the south end of the Miami Beach peninsula.

Collins' family members saw the potential in developing the beach as a resort. This effort got underway in the early years of the 20th century by the Collins/Pancoast family, the Lummus brothers (bankers from Miami), and Indianapolis entrepreneur Carl G. Fisher. Until then, the beach here was only the destination for day trips by ferry from Miami, across the bay. By 1912, Collins and Pancoast were working together to clear the land, plant crops, supervise the construction of canals to get their avocado crop to market, and set up the Miami Beach Improvement Company. There were bathhouses and food stands, but no hotel until Brown's Hotel was built in 1915 (still standing, at 112 Ocean Drive). Much of the interior landmass at that time was a tangled jungle of mangroves. Clearing it, deepening the channels and water bodies, and eliminating native growth almost everywhere in favor of landfills for development, was expensive. Once a 1600-acre, jungle-matted sand bar three miles out in the Atlantic, it grew to 2,800 acres when dredging and filling operations were completed.

With loans from the Lummus brothers, Collins had begun work on a 2½-mile-long wooden bridge, the world's longest wooden bridge at the time, to connect the island to the mainland. When funds ran dry and construction work stalled, Indianapolis millionaire and recent Miami transplant Fisher intervened, providing the financing needed to complete the bridge the following year in return for a land swap deal. That transaction kicked off the island's first real estate boom. Fisher helped by organizing an annual speed boat regatta, and by promoting Miami Beach as an Atlantic City-style playground and winter retreat for the wealthy. By 1915, Lummus, Collins, Pancoast, and Fisher were all living in mansions on the island, three hotels and two bathhouses had been erected, an aquarium built, and an 18-hole golf course landscaped.

The Town of Miami Beach was chartered on March 26, 1915; it grew to become a City in 1917. Even after the town was incorporated in 1915 under the name of Miami Beach, many visitors thought of the beach strip as Alton Beach, indicating just how well Fisher had advertised his interests there. The Lummus property was called Ocean Beach, with only the Collins interests previously referred to as Miami Beach.

Carl Fisher was the main promoter of Miami Beach's development in the 1920s as the site for wealthy industrialists from the north and Midwest to and build their winter homes here. Many other Northerners were targeted to vacation on the island. To accommodate the wealthy tourists, several grand hotels were built, among them: The Flamingo Hotel, The Fleetwood Hotel, The Floridian, The Nautilus, and the Roney Plaza Hotel. In the 1920s, Fisher and others created much of Miami Beach as a landfill by dredging Biscayne Bay; this man-made territory includes Star, Palm, and Hibiscus Islands, the Sunset Islands, much of Normandy Isle, and all of the Venetian Islands except Belle Isle. The Miami Beach peninsula became an island in April 1925 when Haulover Cut was opened, connecting the ocean to the bay, north of present-day Bal Harbour. The great 1926 Miami hurricane put an end to this prosperous era of the Florida Boom, but in the 1930s Miami Beach still attracted tourists, and investors constructed the mostly small-scale, stucco hotels and rooming houses, for seasonal rental, that comprise much of the present "Art Deco" historic district.

Carl Fisher brought Steve Hannagan to Miami Beach in 1925 as his chief publicist. Hannagan set up the Miami Beach News Bureau and notified news editors that they could "Print anything you want about Miami Beach; just make sure you get our name right." The News Bureau sent thousands of pictures of bathing beauties and press releases to columnists like Walter Winchell and Ed Sullivan. One of Hannagan's favorite venues was a billboard in Times Square, New York City, where he ran two taglines: "'It's always June in Miami Beach' and 'Miami Beach, Where Summer Spends the Winter.'"

South Beach (also known as SoBe, or simply the Beach), the area from Biscayne Street (also known as South Pointe Drive) one block south of 1st Street to about 23rd Street, is one of the more popular areas of Miami Beach. Although topless sunbathing by women has not been officially legalized, female toplessness is tolerated on South Beach and in a few hotel pools on Miami Beach. Before the TV show Miami Vice helped make the area popular, SoBe was under urban blight, with vacant buildings and a high crime rate. Today, it is considered one of the richest commercial areas on the beach, yet poverty and crime still remain in some places near the area.

This one is dedicated to my mother. You have been the rock upon which our family was built. The strength, courage and good humor which I strive for every day. Born in Tell City, Indiana my mother grew up on a farm. With no neighbors close by she passed her childhood hours playing with her fifty cats. They listened, they understood and they never judged. She was always the strong one, but didn't think she was strong. She was always the one that encouraged us, even if we weren't that great. She was the most loyal person I have ever known in thoughts and deeds. And her name is Mary
