*** NO REPRODUCTION FEE *** DUBLIN : 7/12/2015 : New Habitat for Humanity partner family receive keys to their new home. Pictured at the dedication ceremony was new home owner Lisa O’Brien welcomed by Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh. A new Habitat for Humanity Ireland partner family today received the keys to their new home at a dedication ceremony attended by Ardmhéara/Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh. Lisa O’Brien and her partner, a couple of 12 years, are now moving into their new two-bed home in Dublin 7. The couple are paying a small mortgage on the home and will come off the growing Dublin City Council housing waiting list. The house was previously a derelict Dublin City Council house which was the scene of anti-social behaviour. Renovation work was completed with the support of Habitat for Humanity Ireland’s donors and volunteers, both individual and corporate, helping to keep the home affordable. Lisa and her partner had worked hard for years in the hope of being able to purchase a home of their own. But with a lack of affordable houses in Dublin, a home seemed an impossible dream. Before becoming Habitat homeowners, Lisa lived in her family home of 7, sharing a bedroom with her two younger sisters. Her partner remained in his family home of five. This situation was not ideal as both homes lacked privacy, and were overcrowded. Picture Conor McCabe Photography.

On August 29, MSU officials rededicated Agriculture Hall as the Justin S. Morrill Hall of Agriculture. Earlier this year, the existing Morrill Hall was vacated and the building is now slated for demolition. A wooden structure originally built in 1900, Morrill had suffered irreparable deterioration. As a result, it was determined that reconstruction and restoration of the facility would not be economically feasible.

(...Will Lee stay or go?)

As part of the PNCA Alumni Reunion, PNCA celebrates the new home of Memory 99 a significant work by PNCA alumnus Lee Kelly ‘59, on the Northwest Park Blocks adjacent to PNCA’s future Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design. Kelly’s Memory 99 was the cornerstone of the Portland Art Museum’s retrospective of the artist’s work and finds a permanent home in this future park block thanks to a gift for its purchase provided by The Ford Family Foundation.

Made possible by a grant from the Visual Arts Program of The Ford Family Foundation (Roseburg, Oregon) to preserve public access to works of consequence by Oregon’s most significant visual artists.
