*** NO REPRODUCTION FEE *** DUBLIN : 7/12/2015 : New Habitat for Humanity partner family receive keys to their new home. Pictured at the dedication ceremony was new home owner Lisa O’Brien welcomed by Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh and Vinnie Cunningham, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Ireland. A new Habitat for Humanity Ireland partner family today received the keys to their new home at a dedication ceremony attended by Ardmhéara/Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh. Lisa O’Brien and her partner, a couple of 12 years, are now moving into their new two-bed home in Dublin 7. The couple are paying a small mortgage on the home and will come off the growing Dublin City Council housing waiting list. The house was previously a derelict Dublin City Council house which was the scene of anti-social behaviour. Renovation work was completed with the support of Habitat for Humanity Ireland’s donors and volunteers, both individual and corporate, helping to keep the home affordable. Lisa and her partner had worked hard for years in the hope of being able to purchase a home of their own. But with a lack of affordable houses in Dublin, a home seemed an impossible dream. Before becoming Habitat homeowners, Lisa lived in her family home of 7, sharing a bedroom with her two younger sisters. Her partner remained in his family home of five. This situation was not ideal as both homes lacked privacy, and were overcrowded. Picture Conor McCabe Photography.

The Wall's location is at the Fire Station known as Ladder 10/Station 10 ("Ten House"), directly across the street from the site of the World Trade Center, and one block from Holland & Knight's office. This station served as the commander center of recovery operations on September 11th. The 343 firefighters, including 5 from Ten House, were lost just steps away. Later, Ten House was used as a rest and recuperation station as well as a command post for fire department operations at the site.
Master artisan, Rambusch Studios, which has been in the architectural and design business since 1898, was the contractor for the project. The Wall is a bas relief made of solid bronze and will be cast in Brooklyn, New York. It is 56 feet in length and approximately 6 feet high, and depicts one of the most successful rescue operations in history. The memorial wall includes every lost firefighter's name engraved into the bronze and sculpted scenes of their valiant, life saving efforts that day.
