A winter storm hits Chicago causing at least 1,000 flights to be canceled by 1 p.m. Meanwhile at Montrose Harbor, Photographer Extraordinaire Moe Martinez sustains a 45 mph gust of Lake Michigan splat and arctic wind.
I'm still not sure if it was dedication or stupidity, but this shot involved waiting for three hours, outside, in the pouring near-freezing rain, standing on three inches of icy slush (and falling down the muddy embankment). Worth it? Rondout, IL.

NO INVITES NEEDEED FOR THIS ONE ~ Just wanted to share it with you. :-) Have a great day/night everyone!
Many of you might not know this song but it's a favourite of both of my daughters. The original is by the Crane Wives and can be seen here
Despite being very rainy, despite being very cold Lewis dragged his Pop Pop and Nana out for his daily constitution, his walk. He had just recently been given a new pair of Hunter boots from his mommy so the weather was just right to check them out.
Off we went in the car (nice and warm) and then out of the car (very, very cold) for the walk in the rain and mud - yep, the boots are waterproof but Pops and and Nana are freezing - back in the car, home!
Total dedication!!
Our Daily Challenge - DEDICATION ....
Thanks to everyone for viewing and helping to hit EXPLORE!
From a shoot Kirsten Thompson organized with some friends from her gym. That's Mark preparing to do a lift.
Strobist Info: Two AB800s in strip boxes right and left behind the model for rim. An AB800 above in a beauty dish for definition. A Nikon SB-26 flash below to light his chest and face, and another one to light the background.
Piero_HN and I wanted to watch the sun rise from Red Rocks early one September morning. We were there in the dark; we were there in time; we beat the sun; but we didn't beat this girl. It's not easy to get up early in the morning to run every row of seats of the fame Red Rocks Amphitheater; but that day with the sun barely shining its light on Red Rocks, she was already more than half way done. That's dedication!

Thanks to a very special person for inspiration and help both when this picture was taken and always.
Many say that the process of learning photography acquires blood, sweat and tears. I prefer the quick a pound of flesh method. Well, not really a pound of flesh. I only left a long strip of my skin and DNA in front of this building when I didn't see a step because I was looking up. To make a long story short, I did a pretty spectacular swan dive onto the concrete. Thankfully, I did not break my camera. And yes, that was the first thing I checked after the fall.
Took this shot and a few others before I hobbled back to my car. Had to get this with clouds - no matter how puny they were.
This is the third in a series of photos I'll make as a dedication to light painters who inspire me.

Probably stupidity, but I was wet anyway, so standing within reach of the waves was not gong to make me any wetter :)
It did give a nice transition between the beach and sea though.
Started in July 2019. the $50 million, three-story building project faced pandemic-related supply chain delays but was completed on budget. The new city hall is approximately 135,000 square feet and is located between the former City Hall and Building 2. More than 300 people will be providing all the same services – Treasurer, Revenue, DMV, City Clerk, Council Chambers, Volumeter Resources, and Communications.
