Portland's Christmas Ships Parade is happening in 2024 and the schedule is on the link below. This image is from 2014 and is mostly the view on a still night from our window at The River Place Hotel. The refections are adjusted for placement of the items. I found a few of the reflections not what I was expecting. These boats have neon and other lighted decorations. The boats stay mostly hidden in this image. The photo was taken from River Place Hotel. www.riverplacehotel.com/

The Holiday lights are just starting to be strung.

Union Park, South End, Boston.

It’s been a while since I have done a set of interpretations of a single capture. This set is based on an image of one of the ornate chandeliers and ceilings in the Brighton Royal Pavilion. The Pavilion was built as a summer pleasure palace for George IV at the turn of the 18th century. It’s a marvellous, fantastical place. The image was taken last November.

There are four images in the set. I’ll link to the in-camera original in a comment as well so that you can see where we started.

V1 - This is a ‘proper’ edit using Capture One and Affinity Photo. This is the basis for the other three versions.

V2 - This version uses Nik Color Efex, which uses all sorts of compounded effects, including a bi-colour filter.

V3 - This version uses Nik Analog Efex to give a double image effect with two copies of the basic shot. The second copy is scaled and zoom blurred a little.

V4 - This version is a play with Topaz Studio 2 using the remix filter to change the colours. I’ll put this one in for Sliders Sunday this week.

I find straight up central chandelier shots interesting. I guess it’s the symmetry and abstraction. This picture reminds me of a spaceship, which is often how my little bear’s brain interprets symmetric abstracts. Perhaps I should have called it Rama 37 or somesuch. The Pavilion has lots of good painted ceilings and chandeliers so I was in a personal playground.

Anyway, part of the fun with these sets is letting you choose your favourite. It’s always interesting how people differ, though often the most popular is the plain edit (a humbling reminder of how easily I waste my time for no purpose, lol).

Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the set. Happy Sliders Sunday :)

~ a lot of golden bokeh escapist that captured back by my camera....LOL

Thank you very much Everyone!!!!

The pool at Shore Acres Garden on the Oregon coast is especially nice with the holiday lights. These cranes are sculptures.

Hopefully, all my American friends will have a lovely and happy 4th of July ....

I managed to get a little "snap and crackle" with the chips (crisps) and some "pop" with the coke ~ and a little red, white and blue!

Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, California 2012

I want to take this time to thank all of my dear Flickr friends that have sent me their prayers and good wishes to get me through what turned out to be a rather tough holiday.

I keep thinking back on all that has happened, and am blown away over and over, by all the little miracles I experienced, even in the middle of the crisis.

God and all his angels were surely looking out for all of us.

Today is the first day I actually feel almost back to normal. My appetite is coming back and I'm feeling much stronger.

Maybe tomorrow I'll actually take my camera out with me when I walk Pearl. I'm starting to get an itch again, to get out there and find the beauty around me.

Of course, my FAVORITE gift this season....lol, actually maybe EVER.....was Pearl,

but I simply fell in love with this lovely little light that Larry gave me. It reminds me of my little patch of woods out behind the house.

Next year, when I decorate my newly cleaned and renovated house, this light will find a special place of honor.

Hope to start catching up with you all tomorrow......I REALLY miss all your lovey photos, and just catching up on how everyone is!

Sending everyone all my love! XO

Decorative lights in the Esplanade Park, Helsinki, Finland.

Warm white fairy lights drape gracefully over a rugged rock face, illuminating its textured surface with a gentle glow. The interplay of light and shadow highlights the natural beauty of the stone, creating a mesmerizing visual contrast. Captured by Duncan Rawlinson, this photograph captures a whimsical and tranquil scene, ideal for inspiring a sense of wonder and charm in any setting.

Shot this from the backseat of a taxi, heading back to the hotel after a traditional kebab dinner (and surprisingly good local wine) at Terrassa Café in Khiva.

The streets were nearly silent—no honking, no rush: just soft night air and glowing decorations lining the road. At first glance, they looked like Christmas lights… but it's spring. These aren't for Christmas at all. In Uzbekistan, such light displays often celebrate Navruz, the Persian New Year, which marks the arrival of spring. It's one of the region's most important holidays, rooted in pre-Islamic Zoroastrian traditions and still widely celebrated with festivals, food, and music.
