Taken at the Simply Dancing Partners Dance event at Battersea Park. SOOC. I really like the black and white images from the night. For some reason, black and white really encapsulates the mood, and completely declutters the image. Although that might also be my new found love for Bokeh. I adore how the lights look in the background when using bokeh. It's fantasmical.

The 1900–1939 photograph of Market Square, Letterkenny, that inspired ReViewing Ireland to go to the same spot is part of the Eason Photographic Collection in the NLI. The Market Square in Letterkenny is on a hill, so this provided myself, and Eason’s photographer a century ago, a great vantage point. There were not so many people around the day I was there, but I did meet a business resident from nearby, a man called Louis Walsh who was in the process of retiring after years as an optician. He gave me a lot of information in general about Letterkenny, which was very helpful. I think Letterkenny gets the gong for being the friendliest place I visited.
The Market Square in Letterkenny is due to be completely redesigned. So this modern photograph in the NLI archives can in time be compared with what is created in its place. I have seen the winning design (by Joe McCallion Landscape Architect) and it seems to let the space breathe, to declutter. The old photograph, when viewed beside the new one, clearly describes what the current design is blocking from the lovely vantage point afforded by the fact the square is on a hill, the lovely architecture on all sides. You can see the mountains behind the buildings straight ahead in both photographs, but in the modern one you’d have to be directed to look at them. The bandstand is the boss of that view.

Ceramic nativity set made by my Grandma, 35 years ago. This is always the last decoration to be put up, in the parlor, usually on Christmas Eve. (This room not only accrues lots of piles of junque during the year, but also is the gift wrapping room. So it is a chore to declutter.)
