around 50 years ago you would be seeing trains going past this spot, then the disastrous decision to destroy the infrastructure of the British railway system was put into Operation.
A California Scrub Jay deciding what he would like to eat for breakfast! He chose the Sunflower Hearts & Chips bird seed. It is fun to watch him pick through the seed and pick the tastiest morsels!
Oh, yeah
Don't need permission
Made my decision to test my limits
'Cause it's my business
God as my witness
Start what I finished
Don't need no hold up
Taking control of this kind of moment
I'm locked and loaded
Completely focused my mind is open

And he told me that I was free, that I could go flying with the others, but I looked into his eyes and decided to stay with him
....
Y me dijo que yo era libre, que podía ir a volar con los demás, pero lo miré a los ojos y decidí quedarme a su lado

Sometimes spare of the minute decisions, work out well. We decided last minute to have a few days up in my Ancestral Scotland. St Abbs Lighthouse has been on my to do list for a long time. Hadn't quite bargained for the road leading to the lighthouse though. Been really nervous since my car accident a few years back and believe me the fear I overcame to get there was repaid with this stunning sunrise.
Don't forget that maybe.............
you are the lighthouse in someones storm.
Thanks Calum for your help and inspiration :)
Musk Lorikeet (Glossopsitta concinna)
This one was wondering which which flower on the Flowering Gum Tree would be good to get a snack from.
Echinopsis pachanoi (syn. Trichocereus pachanoi) — known as San Pedro cactus — is a fast-growing columnar cactus native to the Andes Mountains at 2,000–3,000 m (6,600–9,800 ft) in altitude.[2][3] It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru,[4][5] and it is cultivated in other parts of the world. Uses for it include traditional medicine and traditional veterinary medicine, and it is widely grown as an ornamental cactus. It has been used for healing and religious divination in the Andes Mountains region for over 3,000 years.

Sadly having internet issues, that's why I haven't been around lately!
This is one of the most confounding road signs. It seems to say, yes, you have come to a stop in your journey; no, you cannot make forward progress; you can choose to go right; but a diametrically opposed choice is also viable; whichever direction you go, you could run headlong into a fast moving obstacle … In the meantime, enjoy the clouds
Powerful stormy clouds were forming, weather got windier and windier, so it was a smart decision to keep the boat on the land.

at the very tip of Snaefellsnes peninsula in Iceland's West you may chose which direction you wish to surround Snaefellsjokull volcano, towards Olafsvik going towards the North or in direction of Hellissandur (the clear sands) chosing the Southern route :) It doesn't matter though for that peninsula is ever so beautiful and it is worth to surround it completely, no matter where you start or end :)
Which to feed? The bushtit hoard descended late yesterday afternoon, and had plenty of youngsters in it (were they there to show off their newest members?). Here, I was lucky to get mom with two hungry "teens" vying for her attention. Which did she feed? Neither - shortly after this she flew away and left them wondering "where did she go?" Too funny!
Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, like or comment on my photos!

White-faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae)
From Sneydes Rd. on this day four years ago. It landed on this branch and seemed to be pondering where it should go next. It left shortly after this shot was taken.

"The decision had not been simple, nor had it been painless. Both his father and brother fell to Henry the Lion’s crusade against the pagan Wends, yet by embracing baptism, Pribislav had secured the endurance of his bloodline and the future of his people..."
Every time I make a decision on what to post, I'm sidetracked by the inevitably unexpected. I was about to continue with the flowers, but I went to the Garden just in case there was anything I had missed for August.
Well, after almost a two year hiatus from dragonflies and damselflies, the pond at the Garden has produced quite a few of each, although on three species today. And, what happened was that I began being slower in selecting poses for the ones I've been photographing for 15 years give or take.
This is the largest dragonfly in these parts, the Flame Skimmer. They have the one endearing and then totally frustrating habit of continuously returning to the same perch over and over. Well, when they choose a perch that's facing me and my camera, that gives me so many opportunities for a more artistic view of this reddish orange dragonfly (with about a three+ inch wingspan).
Here is a male who sat on this agave by the pool. It was neither the dragon nor the plant that were the stars: I liked the way the leaves in sun provided a perfect perch against the "succulent-like leaves" in the shadows behind him. And then, there that big nose... Okay, nose looking mandible. Btw, there is no question but that this Flame Skimmer is less than two days old. Not a mark on him and wings fully intact. And, I have another shot from his first few hours after he was flying.
[In case your were wondering, never got back to Flickr today, but I'll catch up tomorrow.]
Last minute decision against the W.E. Hill & Sons varnish cleaner bottle, and for the dishwasher tab. Did some last adjustments for it in LR today, and just for fun added a vignette - and the Evil Eye appeared.
Thank you for your kind comments, I appreciate every single one, and your faves!
A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!
A peregrination of hikers planning their route on Cwm Idwal on a damp but delightful morning.
The sunrise never occurred, the clouds never left and the sun never shone, but hey, you can't have everything! All in all, a pretty good morning.
Even in SL - problems can come to visit. But unlike Real Life..... "Mute and de-render" can make many of those problems go away :-)
