It is not easy to win the friendship of a cat. He is a philosopher, calm, calm, a creature of habit, a lover of decency and order. He does not easily grant his gaze and, although he may consent to be your companion, he will never be your slave (Théophile Gautier)

Careful what you say
This time of year
Tends to weaken me
And have a little decency
And let me cry in peace
But there's a place where I
Erase the challenges I've been through
Where I know every corner,
Every street-name
all by heart
And so it is a part of my
courageous plan to leave
With a broken heart
Tucked away under my sleeve
I wanna go home for Christmas
Let me go home this year
I wanna go home for Christmas
Let me go home this year
I'll pack my bags
and leave before the sun rises tomorrow
'cause we act more like strangers for each day
That I am here
But I have people close to me
Who never will desert me
Who remind me frequently
What I was like as a child
And so it is a part of my
courageous plan to leave
With a broken heart
Tucked away under my sleeve
I wanna go home for Christmas
Let me go home this year
I wanna go home for Christmas
Let me go home this year
I don't know what my future holds
or who I'll choose to love me
But I can tell you where I'm from

........ and im ready for a Barn Dance come Saturday Night ............
Rooster hits the washboard and people just got to smile
Blinky thumps the gut bass and solos for a while
Poor Boy twangs the rhythm out on his kalamazoo
And Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo
I would tell you about the things they put me through
The pain I've been subjected to
But the Lord himself would blush
The countless feasts laid at my feet
Forbidden fruits for me to eat
But I think your pulse would start to rush
Now I'm not looking for absolution
Forgiveness for the things I do
But before you come to any conclusions
Try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes
You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments I kept
If you try walking in my shoes
If you try walking in my shoes
Morality would frown upon
Decency look down upon
The scapegoat fate's made of me
But I promise now, my judge and jurors
My intentions couldn't have been purer
My case is easy to see
I'm not looking for a clearer conscience
Peace of mind after what I've been through
And before we talk of any repentance
Try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes
You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments I kept
If you try walking in my shoes
If you try walking in my shoes

I have always loved music and songs, it was my first love in life, and it will be my last love among others, like those closest to my heart.
My inspiration to capture pictures comes from this first love of mine, "music".
Sometimes just instrumental music, but most times there are lyrics to amplify the feeling and mood or message I am trying to convey. Whether it's landscape pictures, or as of recently, I've also started experimenting more and more with avatar pictures, most of my captures are inspired by the music I listen to, and that I love so much, so that being said, my pictures doesn't necessarily have anything to do with me at all.

Each fall in Alaska we would hike to search and photograph the quintessential rutting moose. (Apart from those that visited the suburbs.) As we returned home on this rainy, foggy day, we spotted a bull moose at an unexpected home (not ours). Excitedly I leaped out to try to capture this handsome, large beast. Paid little attention to his possibly unhappy position of his ears or my shutter speed.
But I post this in all humility and happiness as I recall the moments of fun and joy. In all my encounters with these magnificent ungulates, not one charged me. Lucky.
I'm recalling joy as I avoid news. We must save our country and global emergency and fires and Black lives and human decency and contain Covid!

To Experience Properly Please For The Love Of All Decency View Large On Black :-))
Not a long exposure, but a purposeful blur. :-)))
This is my first shot of any decency of a Pochard. I was fortunate enough to fire off a few shots before the bird was out of reach. Not all were framed as I would have liked, the one with the wings high could have been a bit more to the right in the frame. I cropped this to the max as the bird was off to the left in the original shot. I like the curled up wing tips of the second and the detail in the third. I couldn't decide which is my favourite so I am posting all three and we'll see how the views and comments go. Enjoyed the sunny morning at St Aidens/Swillington Ings this am. Once again thank you all for your comments and faves, much appreciated.
...not because it's the most important issue in the world, but because it's emblematic of a lack of basic human decency. #EmptyTheTanks

When we understand the importance of living together without judgement we will have arrived at a significantly better place than we are today. It is easy to be judgmental, but what purpose does it have? If we live together in peace and allow one another to live the way we wish as long as it does not physically harm anyone, that is what we should be aiming for. Compassion, love, tolerance, understanding, acceptance, respect, equality, diversity and decency will take you a long way. Steer your children away from hate, greed, selfishness and power, this type of behavior only causes pain and sadness to so many, so let's embrace our differences. This should happen globally with all nationalities being involved. So let's get started now!

It’s not a question of religious preference, it’s not a question of should government be big or small. I don’t have a problem with any of those topics. I wanted to show off the gorgeous curves of the new Lelutka Bento shape by Izzie’s to their best advantage, but in order not to offend the decency police I had to put on this old bodysuit by Chocolate Atelier. I'll *may* be posting two images today. As most of you know, 2021 has turned into another phase of my life in nature photography. As it turns out Phase 5.4, "Succulents, Cacti, and Other Wildflowers," has turned into one of the most challenging and interesting of all those aspects of nature that grabbed me and pulled me in. With wildflowers, especially cactus and succulents, any one flower can be shot from any number of angles and in all different light. And some flowers without real definition can "demand" 20 or 30 shots to finally figure out that, if the stem and stamen are in focus, the flower is also in focus and just doesn't have the expected "definition."
Having found that out, and normally only posting one image a day, I now have a backlog of over 400 images. Today, I was a few minutes too early to enter Ruth Bancroft Garden, and was about to explore the surrounding area, when along came this House finch, and he decided to perch at the very top of one of the most interesting agaves. Twenty feet of smooth "trunk" and these two remnants of flowers that had recently fallen off.
I liked the background that I saw in the viewfinder, and the bird had the decency to perch with the two most interesting parts of this tree, and I knew my plans for posting another flower today were going to be disrupted.
Two days ago, it was a Gulf Fritillary butterfly; the day before that, a Western Fence Lizard between two cacti; and the day before that, the Painted Lady which I did post.
So, continuity may be out the window ... although all of nature this year has been beautiful and unique, so enjoy the ride with me. It may be bumpy along the way: the temperature on Thursday is supposed to his 106, and I will not be "in the field" that day! At least for the time being, my archives are only a week old!

In Glasgow, Scotland, there is a charming & fascinating little museum called Tenement House that allows you to enter a time warp that allows you to experience life in a four room flat in the early 20th century. Home to a shorthand typist, Miss Agnes Toward and her dressmaker mother, it is perfectly preserved. Viewing the table set for tea, I felt like I was journeying back in time before an ignorant buffoon like Donald Trump could ever have been called our president. I long for the end of this nightmare that has descended on my country and pray for our national deliverance before too much damage is done.

We had a visitor today, a song thrush. I was quite excited as this was the first time I had a song thrush in my garden. Fynn noticed her/him first but had the decency not to chase and try to kill our new feathered friend, somtimes even cats have manners. I left Fynn and our guest alone, headed indoors to get the camera and hoped for the best. Surprisingly they were still where I had left them when I returned, the song thrush in the tree and the cat in the grass under the tree. It wasn't easy to focus but I managed a few photos before the visitor decided not to put Fynn's hospitality to the test any longer. I hope s/he will return, preferably at a time when all cats are indoors.
