There’s no trace of a human presence, no animals, plants, nothing except desert, salt, and stones (mountains). Surprisingly there is a flowers plant blooming in the intriguing Dante’s view, white basin and foggy mountains as backdrop.
DEATH VALLEY CALIFORNIA
Did you know there are five species of pupfish in Death Valley NP? All are isolated from each other evolving and adapting separately since the Ice Age flooded the area around 12,000 years ago. Pupfish are the only fish found in the park. The endangered Salt Creek Pupfish are found exclusively in the Salt Creek drainage of Death Valley. These small (2 inch) fish live primarily in an entrenched section of the creek where the deeper pools are lined with vegetation. The pupfish are able to survive extreme changes in their environment and live in saline water that ranges in temperature from near freezing to about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The pupfish feed mostly on insects and alge. They survive drastic changes in their environment by being able to rapidly repopulate through several generations in a single year.
Artist's Palette at Death Valley, California. The colors of the earth are wonderful on a rainy day. No crop. No post processing.
EUREKA MINE - DEATH VALLEY CALIFORNIA
This bullet riddled 1940's vintage auto can be found in Pete Aguereberry's camp at the Eureka mine. Pete worked this gold mine from 1905 to 1945. Many of the structures in the camp are still standing today.
I had the chance to go to Death Valley recently and we were treated to some rain and fresh snow on the mountain peaks overnight. Cold and windy day, but who could complain when your given the gift of a beautiful rainbow.

Looking for a way to see the beauty of Death Valley without having to do a lot of walking? Be sure to check out Artists Drive. The most popular scenic drive in the park, this nine mile (14.5 km) paved road winds through multicolored, eroded hills. The colorful rainbow hills of Artists Drive were formed by volcanic deposits of different compositions. Artists Drive is beautiful any time of day, but the colors are most dramatic during afternoon light.
