Macro Mondays 06/08/18 theme Decay
I had to hunt high and low to find a flower skeleton (most are cut of in the autumn and put on the fire or compost heap) but I found some in a tree next to my hydrangea bush.I wanted to create an image of life as the reflection of death so I placed the skeletal flower on a mirror and photographed it then replaced it with the fresh flower and photographed that one.The rest was finished of in Photoshop.no special lighting setups just the pop up flash on the camera.

In my previous post I showed the Greater spotted woodpecker seeing off Starlings at breakfast time.
Today it came as I was starting my breakfast and the woodpecker became breakfast for the Sparrowhawk!
Tried hard not to burn my toast under the grill as I dashed upstairs to get the camera and change the lens.

The aptly named death rocks at Dunstanburgh, Northumberland.
As many who have visited know only too well, how dangerous these rocks are to navigate across, even when dry.
On this occasion I chose an easier option, climbing over some, then up onto the large rock, which can be seen to the left. It gave me a good vantage point and a lovely sweep of the bay.
If you turn around at Zabriskie Point, you will see these amazing badlands completing encompassing the scene. Texture overload.
The shrill screams of murder were all that could be heard throughout the valley.

Spring Milky Way rising over the Badlands at Zabriskie Point. Death Valley not only has some incredible landscape but some very dark skies.
We happened to be on CN's Iron Range as the shop forces in Proctor assembled a trio of black SD40-2s for service. Here's the first run of the set southbound as they take U717 across the Cloquet River at Burnett, Minnesota.

Death by chocolate is a colloquial descriptive or marketing term for various desserts that feature chocolate as its primary ingredient.
I've seen an influx of images lately from Death Valley which honestly makes me wish I had a trip out there planned. For now...I went diving into last year's trip and ran across this one. It was pre-sunrise on a blue bird sky so B&W it is. Super wide with an Irix 11mm on this one so it's looking straight down almost. I did have to stack 4 images for focus on this one as well as I was pretty close to that foreground. Hope everyone's having a great weekend!
