Another beautiful sunset from Goldwater Lake. This lake is one of my favorites for sunsets. Willow is a close second but the new buildings at Embry Riddle and the car dealerships can produce some light that is a little distracting in a photo.

So yesterday I had to take my car to the local General Motors dealership at Castle Hill (Victoria Road) for its 40,000km service, and whilst waiting I wandered into the adjoining GMSV (General Motors Special Vehicles) dealership - and look what I discovered.

It's a silver-grey 3LT GMSV Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. It is, surprisingly, a normally aspirated motor (no turbo) and yet gets to 100km per hour in 2.9 seconds. It has an amazing power-to-weight ratio.

Yet, in saying all that, I think any Tesla electric vehicle will beat it down the street. Hence, I note, the first electric Stingray arrives in 2025.

Here it is. It is called the 'E-ray'.

A veritable graveyard of old cars, all decomposed by time in communion with nature.

This original park is the work of Michael Fröhlich, Fashion- then Autodesigner and now owner of a collector car dealership. Michael Fröhlich had the idea one day, 20 years ago, to acquire for his 50th birthday 50 vintage cars from all over the world, all dating from the 1950s to install them in the large wooded garden surrounding his house on the hillside , like an artistic journey exposing his passion for old cars but above all testifying to the superiority of natural elements over technology, of a nature that always ends up reclaiming its rights.

Among the many decaying cars, you can admire a Jaguar and a Porsche side by side, an East Berlin army car facing its West Berlin contemporary, a gangster 11 HP limousine that once belonged to a policeman French, a half-buried Mosqvitch, a 2CV filled with empty champagne bottles, a Rolls Royce carrying the Queen and Prince Charles but also a Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Opel, Ford, Volkswagen, Buick, Citroën, Fiat, Austin, Morris, Lloyd, Renault, Tatra… each vehicle has its story!

And you don't just find vintage cars in the Auto-Skulpturen-Park. You will also come across an airplane and its parachutist suspended from a tree, motorcycles, scooters, a horse-drawn carriage… a telephone booth, tires, garden gnomes…

Hummer was a brand of trucks and SUVs, first marketed in 1992 when AM General began selling a civilian version of the M998 Humvee. In 1998, General Motors (GM) purchased the brand name and marketed three vehicles: the original Hummer H1, based on the military Humvee, as well as the H2 and H3 models that were based on smaller, civilian-market GM platforms. By 2008, Hummer's viability in the economic downturn was being questioned, and it was placed under review by GM management. Rather than being transferred to the Motors Liquidation Company as part of the GM bankruptcy in 2009, the brand was retained by GM, in order to investigate its sale. In 2009, a Chinese manufacturer, Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company, announced that it would acquire Hummer, pending government approvals, but later withdrew its bid. On February 24, 2010, Reuters reported that the Chinese ministry of commerce had prevented the deal, although a ministry spokesperson denied rejecting the application, which had been stalled for eight months. At the end of February, General Motors announced it would begin dismantling the Hummer brand. Although the automaker announced two days later that it had been approached with new offers, by April 2010, any sale became unlikely, as inventory was depleted and Hummer dealerships began shutting down. After filling a rental-car fleet order, the last Hummer H3 rolled off the line at Shreveport on May 24, 2010. The original maker of Hummer, AM General, lost their bid to build the HMMWV's replacement for the U.S. military in 2015.

I loved this "tractor in the sky " so much as a young child my mother sent me the newspaper clipping from the day it and the building were demolished. :-)

It must have been tough for the salesmen at a Studebaker-Packard dealership to maintain a sense of excitement during the 1957 and 58 model years.

After fifty-nine years, the proud heritage that was Packard, faded into automotive history. The sales staff must have known Studebaker would not last much longer either. How did that impact their sales enthusiasm?

As a sort of last act, Packard and Studebaker, two soon to be orphans, helped a nice immigrant get started in America. Somewhere in America, you can probably still find a family run Mercedes Benz dealership that started out as a family run Studebaker dealership.

That's enough nostalgia, let's talk shop.

This image was lit by the three LED, dollhouse lamps you see, two more in the ceiling you cannot see, plus the morning sun streaming in through the front door. Because the camera was in one of the window openings, the Studebaker Hawk needed a little light painting with an LED flashlight.

It was sheer luck that the 1:1 scale Packard and Studebaker scripts fit the space available on the model. It took a little shopping to find a Mercedes script that fit the space above the garage door.

Fun facts;

The spotlights on the Packard and Studebaker scripts are just sunlight coming in through the upper windows.

The television and console stereo props are actually, Japanese refrigerator magnets.

Peterbilt Motors Company is an American truck manufacturer. Established in 1939 from the acquisition of Fageol Truck and Motor Company, Peterbilt specializes in the production of heavy-duty (Class 8) and medium-duty (Classes 5–7) commercial vehicles. The namesake of company founder T. A. "Al" Peterman,

This Ferrari dealership is the perfect place to find your dream car... as long as it is Italian, and red.

Built over the course of the last 4 years, this is by far my largest creation to date, and a perfect showcase for my 16-wide car collection as well as my passion for Ferrari. I completed a majority of the design work for the dealership building in 2012, loosely based off of the Ferrari dealership of Tampa Bay. I began collecting pieces with countless BrickLink and Pick-a-Brick orders, with a majority of the building taking place between 2013 and 2016.

The dealership building consists of 2 main sections, front and back, and is illuminated by a series of LED lights. The building is made up of approximately 23,000 pieces, the transporter adds another 5,000 pieces, and the 8 cars contribute another 8,000 pieces for an overall 36,000 Lego bricks.

The cold reality of a car dealership. Daybreak. Red Deer, Alberta. -30C.

This is an old Studebaker car dealership, located a short distance outside Atlantic City, NJ, that was turned into an antique shop. Although the shop was full of items, it was closed even though the sign said it was open 7 days a week. So, possibly closed for good.

I read somewhere that the building is in the 1920's mission-architectural style
