Charles Dickens leefde van 1812 tot 1870 en is de bekendste en invloedrijkste Engelse schrijver uit de 19e eeuw. De sprookjesachtige wereld die Dickens beschreef was vooral de wereld van zijn vroegste jeugd. Het Dickens festijn is dé gelegenheid om een groot aantal hoofdpersonen en bijpersonen uit de boeken van Dickens te ontmoeten. The Dickens Festival is the opportunity to meet a large number of main characters and secondary characters from Dickens' books. The Victorian era, named after Queen Victoria, is a time of great social contradictions, of wealth but also of great poverty.

HOORN - St.Pietershof, woningen voor ouden van dagen. Vier vleugels om een binnenplaats, waarin aan de noordoostzijde een tweede kleine binnenplaats is gevormd door het oudste gedeelte, het zgn. Vierkant.
Helaas geen tijd meer voor een bezoekje . . .staat in de agenda..
Dit huisje van Ka-buur staat op Landgoed Elswout in Overveen. Het lijkt net een echt huisje, maar het is een decorstuk. In de Engelse landschapstuinen hield men van dergelijke grapjes.
This cottage by Ka-buur is located on Landgoed Elswout in Overveen, the Netherlands. It looks like a real house, but it is a piece of decor. Such jokes were loved in the English landscape gardens.

Holiday 2025 Sweden
Deze kerk staat in de Zweedse plaats Ekshärad. De houten kerk werd geopend in 1688.
De vorige kerk stamde uit de vroege middeleeuwen. In 1686 werd begonnen met de bouw van de nieuwe kerk onder leiding van de Filipstadse Anders Larsson Rankings. In 1688 werd de bouw afgerond.

Het prachtige gemeentemonument, de Indische Instelling, ooit in 1864 opgericht als opleidingsinstituut voor ingenieurs en ambtenaren richting Nederlands-Indië. In 1895 kreeg het pand zijn indrukwekkende voorgevel, ontworpen door gemeentearchitect Hartman.
Na jaren dienst te hebben gedaan als politiebureau is het gebouw in 1997 volledig getransformeerd tot een stijlvol appartementencomplex, bekroond met de prestigieuze Le Comteprijs in 2014.
