US Capitol Columns Exhibit At Washington DC Arboretum
These 22 Corinthian sandstone columns were among 24 that were part of the east central portico of the United States Capitol. Architect Charles Bulfinch oversaw the construction of the portico using a design handed down by his predecessors, William Thornton and Benjamin Henry Latrobe. Completed in 1829, these columns provided the backdrop for presidential Inaugurations from 1829 (Andrew Jackson) to 1857 (Dwight Eisenhower), and were the sites of many speeches, protests and rallies.
In 1958 the columns were dismantled to make way for the east front extension of the U.S. Capitol.
Restoration of the columns was made possible through the efforts of Ethel Shields Garrett and support from the Friends of the National Arboretum. Garden Designer Russell Page selected and designated the new site, which was completed and dedicated in 1990.
I think my display came out pretty nice for only having 6' of space. I can fill up a 10' x 10' tent on my own!!
The Washington Monument is the most prominent structure in Washington, D.C. and one of the city's early attractions. It was built in honor of George Washington, who led the country to independence and then became its first President. The Monument is shaped like an Egyptian obelisk, stands 555’ 5 1/8” tall, and offers views in excess of thirty miles. It was finished on December 6, 1884.

BLACK ON ICE - Lapilli di rock dall'ultimo album Black on Ice e, senza tregua, la feroce rincorsa a saccheggiare le radici con Back in Black e You Shook Me, tirando il fiato per qualche secondo prima dell'ultima discesa agli inferi. Una campana gigante rimbomba sul palco e il coro dei quindicimila canta Hells Bells, aspettando di risalire con Let there be rock, Tnt, Shoot to thrill. Il basso di Williams e la batteria Rudd ci danno dentro e, quando sparano i cannoni, l'apoteosi si rischiara con il finale di For Those About To Rock. Fuochi d'artificio, effetti speciali, grande lezione di musica, ma il tempo è passato troppo in fretta. Troppo presto per riflettere sui giganti della storia del rock, troppo veloce per evitare di tornare nelle nostre gabbie quotidiane, ancora più difficili da smantellare se non ci fosse stata la musica degli Ac/Dc, per una sera, ma anche per una vita intera.

The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park is a United States National Historical Park located in the District of Columbia and the states of Maryland and West Virginia. The park was established as a National Monument in 1961 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in order to preserve the neglected remains of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal along the Potomac River along with many of the original canal structures. The canal and towpath trail extends from Georgetown, Washington, D.C. to Cumberland, Maryland, a distance of 184.5 miles (296.9 km), and was designated as the first section of U.S. Bicycle Route 50 on November 5, 2013.
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park now receives more than three million recreation visits annually. The National Park Service operates visitor centers at six different locations along the canal: Georgetown, Great Falls Tavern, Brunswick, Williamsport, Hancock, and Cumberland. These visitor centers have displays and interpretive exhibits on the history of the C&O Canal.

Not a great photo, it was dark and the plane was very far away.
The 24,000-acre blaze in the mountains towering above Banning, Beaumont and Cabazon killed four U.S. Forest Service firefighters and left another in critical condition. Pablo Cerda is at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, where is undergoing surgery that could keep him alive.
