Our Daily Challenge - Let There Be Light

I was lucky to get home pretty late and still have some evening sun - we're definitely getting cooler, this is the best time in Cape Town.
My secret season.
As predicted it was cloudy... in fact it was "light fog". I gave up waiting (and hoping) and headed 40 miles east where I managed to find a small gap in the clouds to photograph the eclipse in a tiny village with a nice old church. This explains the crosses.
I took this with my 10 stop Lee Big Stopper filter as it seemed the best way to deal with some of the risks of looking at the sun. I also used the LCD display.

When you have a good day, you have a good day. No I haven't won the lottery yet, (but it's coming, it's coming), but just sitting around and being able to do whatever tI wanted has been positively marvelous. Playtime! Oh, I suppose that this follows the weekly theme of high key
More sunrise marbles, they are sitting atop my bubbly vase. I opted for this one because my house and I are showing up in the marbles reflection. I love the combo of orange and blue.

This is a a photo of a little bow clip that I put on a mirror. It's been a very tiring week.
She traveled this road as a child
Wide eyed and grinning, she never tired
But now she won't be coming back with the rest
If these are life's lessons, she'll take this test.

We've come away for a beach weekend, which is great. What wasn't so great was the Friday afternoon traffic which meant the normal 1.5 hour journey was more than double that. That delay meant we got here after sunset and near the end of twilight - and it was pretty desperate. Nothing to boast about here but at least I just got a shot before total darkness.
Just when I thought spring has arrived, Southern California has been hit by winter storm. It’s going to be a wet weekend and some plans have to be postponed. Oh well, it's alright, I love rain anyway!! And thank God it’s Friday.
I’m sending some sunshine your way to keep you warm on a rainy or snowy day!

Today the battery of my air con remote went dead. As I took a fresh battery from cupboard, I realized we never take notice of a battery until its dead, yet its everywhere serving us, making our life easy.
So before I trash it, decided to express gratitude by making it my model today!! :))

Happy Spring!
These quails are year-round residents in parts of SW USA. They are also called "Blue Quail" because their scale-like feathers take on a blueish cast in the shade.

Okay, today I think I've finally nailed it! I mean the high key thing!
I not only think that this is the best image in my high key series, but I also think it may be the best image so far in my water drop series!
Yes, today, I'm finally happy with one of my water drop shots! :)

This is my new picture for my 365 project for the weekly theme "Negative Space".

While wandering around the backyard looking for something inspirational for today's photo challenge, I pointed my camera at this roll of fencing that's under our deck. I snapped one shot just for kicks and in the end I really liked the look of the end result.
a 1985 seiko quartz dress watch patterned from a seiko lasalle. a marvel of engineering at the time because of its size (4mm thick), this watch cost around USD300. despite its age now it still keeps very good time and only needs battery replacement every 2 years. by the early 1980's the swiss watch industry was in a quandary due to the new quartz technology (started in 1970's) dominated by japan through seiko, citizen and casio. the swiss watch industry was on a verge of collapse until they began to jump into the bandwagon to develop their own line of quartz, the swatch , but this is another part of horology.

Incredibly exhausting day. All I wanna do is sit and do nothing.
It's Hockey Day in Canada today. The CBC will be broadcasting a triple-header of head-to-head games between the six Canadian NHL teams.

For most of the week I've been working a one block area in downtown between 6th and 7th Avenues and Walnut and Mulberry. I keep going down for a specific shot but each day I come away with something else. Today, as I was walking around I spied this guy on the barbed wire fence around the county jail. A quick shot on what was the last shot on my card. I figured that was as good a reason as any to make this a keeper.
