Day 71/365: 2015

For the weekly theme selective colour in camera, no apps.

For The Weekly Alphabet Challenge K for Kitchen...these chillis were in my kitchen (hope that's okay)

Also #25 in my 100 x challenge - using my 50mm

Selective color

ODC - isolated

Have you been half asleep

and have you heard voices?

I've heard them calling my name.

I've heard it too many times to ignore it.

It's something that I'm supposed to be.

-The Rainbow Connection

For FGR - A few of my favorite things

This Kermit talks and sings. He sits on a shelf in my closet. Gracie knows this and will stand on her hind legs and whine until I make Kermit sing his little song. Then she sits and listens until he is done. Bella runs away.

This is a common ritual among ducks after mating! It is extremely fascinating watching the whole mating routine among them! The male will court the female and she of course will play hard to get and he will chase her all over the water, both of them skimming it. She will slow down teasing him and speed up as he gets closer and then she will finally let him catch her! He will pin her down grabbing the ruff of her neck holding her under water while mating. Once they have finished mating both will spend about 15 - 20 minutes ducking under the water and shaking off the water like this! It's as though they are bathing themselves! It is truly a wonderful experience to witness! No I am not some pervert that goes around watching animal mating rituals, I just enjoy witnessing and capturing normal animal behaviors that are not always seen! ;D

day71 #71of365 Don't Look

Having spent 2 days indoors (since when did that become healthy?) I went out this morning for a walk to Upnor but I didn't get any decent shots, so I strolled into a quiet Rochester this evening. It's encouraging to see that a couple of premises are reopening with new businesses. There's marketing in this.

March 12, 2007

I've been Spring Cleaning today -- trying to clean out my closet and organize some things around here. Along the way, I found this fancy old black cocktail dress with a pretty lace back, and thought I'd throw it on, stand in the afternoon light and take my photo. So that's what I did. Then I went back to cleaning and taking care of business around here. Because that's what I do.

Haha, wouldn't it be something if I had kept the dress on all day, while scrubbing floors and picking the kids up from school? Now, that would be funny. One of these days I'll have to do that.

Took these rather hurriedly, and I see now I should have cleaned my lens better before shooting. Argh. Oh, well.

I come from a very strong military family as most of my nearest family and relatives have served this great country thru several wars. I have had a lot of friends serve as well as gave up their lives for this country. I am not here to make a political view or wish my beliefs on anyway, I just want to honor the men and women, the fathers and mothers, the sons and daughters, the husbands and wives, the sisters and brothers who fight for our freedom and who have given it their all for us here at home to be safe and sound. My heart and soul is with you all and I never have doubt on what you all have to do. Thank you, thank you all!

Week 11: Something I've Never Photographed Before (March 12-18)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well the theme challenge this week was to photograph something I never photographed before. Thinking.... Ah, the basement!

I rarely go into the basement, except for during the Spring and Summer. I go there to turn the water on and off for the hose when I need to water the garden... that is about it.

It's the home of power tools, the furnace and oil tank as well as the water pump, sump pump and a variety of gardening items. There are also the things that go there to be forgotten.

So I went down to the basement.

There before my wandering eyes I spied the new oil tank. It had been installed this past fall, but I had not been down to see it and there it was! It looked oddly new and sort of shiny. Perfect. Mission accomplished. I think that was too easy.

71/365 -Around the house - Day 71

For Day 71 of 365. And for Today's Random Fact. And for Tell it with a song.

Today's Random Fact: Someone told me that my random fact should be that the obsession with pulling out your own hair is called trichotilomania, but I explained to her that that wasn't a random fact about ME. :-D So instead we'll go with the fact that I really need to paint my porch. Clearly, huh?

"Fall" by Clay Walker

Oh, look, there you go again

Puttin' on that smile again

Even though I know you've had a bad day

Doin' this and doin' that

Always puttin' yourself last

A whole lotta give and not enough take

But you can only be strong so long before you break

So fall

Go on and fall apart

Fall into these arms of mine

I'll catch you

Everytime you fall

Go on and lose it all

Every doubt, every fear,

Every worry, every tear,

I'm right here

Baby, fall

Forget about the world tonight

All that's wrong and all that's right

Lay your head on my shoulder, and let it fade away

And if you wanna let go, hunny, its okay

Fall

Go on and fall apart

Fall into these arms of mine

I'll catch you

Everytime you fall

Go on and lose it all

Every doubt, every fear,

Every worry, every tear,

I'm right here

Baby fall

Hold on, hold on,

Hold on to me

Fall

Go on and fall apart

Fall into these arms of mine

I'll catch you

Everytime you fall

Go on and lose it all

Every doubt, every fear,

Every worry, every tear,

I'm right here

Baby fall

So I'm currently living in a 4-person suite by myself (waiting for roommates to move in!) with these huge floor to ceiling windows everywhere. This one faces South Philadelphia.

I cannot wait to try to capture the lights here at night but that'll really put my poor 50mm to the test :P

Fresh snow this morning on the branches of a Flowering Dogwood. This snow has the fluffiness, softness, and stickiness of cotton candy.

i love 'em, wanna try 'em on?

im kinda sentimental about things that went to France with me over the summer. I wore these on top of the Eiffel Tower. Every time I wear them I think about that day, and that amazing sight (:

my body is getting so sore it's not even funny, i cherish sleep now. I made a new friend today, it was very unlikely too, which was a nice surprise!

hope you guys had a good day, no worries, tomorrow's friday!

goodnight and God bless.

New Jersey Coast Line train leaving the Red Bank station heading for Manhattan.

i actually had another plan in mind for today's shot...but i saw hula sleeping on the couch and i couldn't resist. she looks so fluffy and sweet and cute, but she's a bear if you try to keep her up past 7 pm. ok, maybe not a bear. but she gets cranky.

thank you for the butterfly.

Day 71 - Our wedding rings.

Trying to find a different angle as I've photographed these a few times before.

#Explore - thank you all!

First {b}looming crocus spotted in the garden today. I'm overjoyed that these flowers come back year after year. I feel like they are a beautiful floral announcement that spring has finally sprung! 💜

Me in one of my favourite trees. Went out taking photos this afternoon but didn't get many because it started to drizzle and the light was bad. We were going to walk as far as the Ryde Queen (rusting hulk of an old paddle steamer) but one of the footpaths was so flooded we couldn't go any further. Just as well because the drizzle turned into heavy rain.

What a day !!! Going back to work has been tougher than I thought it would be, I am so tired which is why I haven't commented much, sorry I will catch up ! A long day and then getting out of the car I dropped my iPad and cracked the screen...I am gutted to say the least...hopefully school will fix it otherwise I will have to claim on the insurance! I was just going to post a picture of said broken iPad but couldn't do it....instead I decided on this lovely journal that I got at the weekend...I haven't decided what it will be used for yet just thought it was pretty, added my glasses and squeezed a final shot of this poor little Gerbera that really has had it's day now.

My usual Kim Klassen texture seeing as though Tuesday

Here's hoping tomorrow will be a better day all round as my new camera should be arriving !

Thanks for all the views, comments and faves, all are very much appreciated :)

The is my journey to work fortunately its more free flowing at this time of night.

I believe demolition is due to begin in September, and whatever it is replaced with, it can hardly look any worse than what's there just now. But I do rather like the bridge above Leith St. that takes you there. I've used it in 365 once before, but there's inevitably going to be a bit of repetition...

Tulip

I can't wait 'till the flowers show up in the garden, so I had to buy some tulips.

Also a nice excuse to play around with the macro extender.

ISO 1250 - 1/100 sec - f/5 - 100 mm

About a one minute exposure, the rocks were seriously slippery so couldn't venture very far along this coast...

Raining here in Christchurch (as it is over most of New Zealand), but we haven't had the huge downpours that parts of the North Island have had (last Tuesday, Saturday and today). Heard on news that parts of Auckland city got just under 60mm of rain in an hour earlier today!
