Inspired by Kimber Mc Cay as seen in Creating Keepsakes Sept. 2010

Art: While my sister Alexandra was here she worked with us to create a piece of art to hang in Bronwyn's room. She picked up canvas and paints at an art store across the street and had Bronwyn and I cut words out of the paper which she incorporated into the tree she painted. It was interesting to see the words we choose. Where Alexandra and I picked words that related to what was happening, Bronwyn cut out words she just liked such as animal names.

Although Alexandra is gone she set it up to be a work in progress. Bronwyn and I and others can add words to the branches and Bronwyn is working on little canvases that will make up the frame.

Remains of the castle from former suburban amusement park, Wobbies World (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wobbies_World), Forest Hill.

Pretty much any kid who grew up in the 70s and 80s probably pestered their parents to take them there, thanks to word of mouth from other kids, and later, that annoying ad that used to be on high rotation on TV: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLtBUS5fUow (you can see the castle at 0:05).

EDIT: And here is an even earlier ad: www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=3R...

My main motivation for wanting to go was to ride on the famous helicopter "Whirliebird" monorail, plus climb inside the real helicopter that used to live there. One day my sister and I finally wore down Dad and he took us there to check it out. I don't remember much of that visit, but knowing Dad's generosity with ride tickets and ice-creams, I'm sure we had a great day.

Currently, there is a plant nursery onsite, although the site has now been purchased and this castle is most likely going to be demolished and the land cleared to make way for the new Forest Hill police station.

The lady at the nursery was kind enough to let me have a look around, and what struck me was how small the site seems (no surprise, considering the perspective of time). I must admit that it was quite sad to walk around the back, where the former mini golf greens are still marked out by concrete gutters, and other concrete structures gave vague impressions of what used to exist here.

8月8日,第23天,骑行川藏就是为了在布达拉宫前拍张照?部分正确,杯具的是当时我为什么穿着无袖,很搓耶。。。

A cold COLD wind and -14, not a day to do what I was planning to do... It is better to put woolly socks (which BTW I looooove beyond believe!) on and think things to do indoors.

Keith is feeling sick, Mary has a sore throat: I hope rest of us stay ok and two of them are getting better also. Not exactly the best x-mas if kids are sick... Let's hope not!

Today I helped someone I had never met before move to a new apartment. Long story short: friend of a friend needed help moving and I rounded up the cavalry to help her out. It was a really easy move by anyone's standards (about 31/2 hours including the drive between houses)

And it was a good time starting out with a pancake-off at my house (three different types that turned out to all be really yummy, plus bacon!) and then paid at lunch with pizza and beer, not to mention oodles of good karma.

This is my good friend Will with me in the empty Uhaul right before we headed for home.

On the way home from shooting the sunset over the farm I happened to notice a large collection of flashing lights in the strip mall by Wal-Mart so I stopped to see what was happening.

Apparently there was some sort of chemical spill/toxic leak in the Chinese restaurant which required all of our fire trucks and ambulances to attend.

seeing as my camera broke in May, my mom wasn't home tonight, and my sister lost hers,

i was camera-less!

soooo, i just uploaded one i took from some other day.

but it's cute, right? ;D

Thank you to 3M who generously provided me with a ton of awesome Scotch™ products to help inspire me today. I now have a new favorite pair of scissors thanks to them. The window was made using Scotch tape, part of a Scotch brand yellow envelope, black matte board, and a couple of Sharpies.

de·form (dĭ-fôrm')

1. To spoil the natural form of; misshape.

2. To spoil the beauty or appearance of; disfigure.

3. To alter the shape of by pressure or stress.

The top arch of my ears got squished when I was chillin in my mom's womb. Nobody ever notices but I know. It never really bothered me. In fact I kinda like the fact that they look a little wiggly.

What's interesting is that when I looked up the definition, #3 made me stop and think. It hit me that in order for life to take a different shape, even for the better, there has to be pressure. I've been feeling that pressure a lot lately, but as of late, I have been getting several messages about pressure and have to remember that a diamond is produced by pressure. I must be gettin ready to shine!!

Day 23

A collage of the sights we see as we drive south for Christmas.

I did not go anywhere or did anything today. So this is a picture for today.

New pedicure I got yesterday with Jessica.

Day 23

I love my sparkly palm tree :)

The day's theme was to do with messages. After listening to NIghtwish's song "Creek Mary's Blood" I thought of smoke

signals.

Astley Hall on a clear night with a bright moon

and loving it! It's about all I really can do today. My chest hurts SO bad. I'm tired of getting sick all the time. It's because I'm babysitting. I just hate to say no to that kind of money when I'm not working. So, I'm taking it easy and curling up with Bridget and a cuppa tea. Would love to go to England but worry it wouldn't be good for our finances. Uhg. I love their accent...wish I could talk like that without sounding like an idiot. But even with my froggish voice I sound like an idiot, so I guess it wouldn't matter. I hate being sick.

Maybe should have some more herbal tea and snuggle down deeper in the blankes...sounds nice.

Oh, and by the way...sometimes I feel like leaving the pictures sideways. I'm not sure why but somedays look better to me that way. I know, I'm weird but I guess out of all the weird people out there this day and age, I'm one of the lesser. :D Day 23

Day 23: Between Cops and Fishsticks...

please show me how to live.

Song of the Day: White Lexus - Mike Doughty

Between painting cops and eating fishsticks I found a new Mike Doughty song, edited some pictures, and learned that cardboard is really sharp. 'My world's the surface of the moon....my heart's down in a diamond mine.'

Stitched in gray thread on an A4 card...watercolors and ink. Photo inspiration at Sktchy app.

The view outside my window!

Summer's going by so fast, way too fast.
