A cold southerly wind has flattened the sea. There was one hopeful surfie out there but there was nothing greater than about 300mm/1foot!

These clouds delivered thunder, lightning and rain.

This young bird was chasing nuthatches around the yard. Got him excited enough to raise his crown feathers.

For my ongoing bird-a-day project for 2017. Thanks all!

Moog, Mr Moog. License to squeal.

Just a quick one tonight, I'm off out to see a friend appear in a show tonight. There's talk of an after show party but I have work at stupid o' clock so I might be a big wuss and run away.

After a few typhoons are coming through Japan, a full-fledged autumn leaves season is coming.

Into the Light - Day 171 - Year 2022

--------------------------------------------------

So I found a 'food' setting on the Sony. Today's picture of the day and supper ... Sweet Italian Sausage and tomato sauce with angel hair, sprinkled with grated Romano, Hot Pepper flakes and fresh chopped Italian Parsley.

Climbing Red Rose "Blaze"

----------------------------------------------------

To honor the rose this June, here are some facts about the flower that most people probably don’t know.

· A fossil of a rose was located in Colorado from nearly 35 million years ago

· About 150 species of the genus Rosa exist throughout the Northern Hemisphere

· There is actually no such thing as a black rose - the color is an illusion! What you’re really seeing is a very dark red

· The country of Zambia, located in Southern Africa, is lucky enough to have more than 80 percent of its land covered with roses

· The Cathedral of Hildesheim in Germany has had a large rose bush growing on one of its walls for over 1,000 years, proving how long roses can survive

· In the middle ages, rose petals and rose oils were used in the baths of the rich and famous

· Different colors of roses symbolize different feelings of passion and emotion

· “War of the Roses” comes from the different factions fighting to control England in the 15th century. The white rose symbolized Yorkshire and the red rose symbolized Lancaster.

· George Washington was the first U.S. rose breeder

· There are more than 4,000 songs dedicated to roses

Only looks that way, but I actually had company. The little monster was in the room, playing and making it really hard for me to look serious. LOL!

This is my Self Portrait contest entry at Michelle Black's group I LOVE her!!!!). I never win these things. And it's not easy to be creative after 170 days of SP's. But nothing to lose if I join, right? :-P

I'm off to the Sunday session of the Seattle Strobist Seminar to meet the Strobist himself, David Hobby, and to learn a thing or two about lighting. It should be fun!

Strobist info: 580ex into silver umbrella on camera right. Gold reflector on camera left. Fired by Gadget Infinity wireless. Anti-wind support by Gina.

FGR invades Pippi Longstocking and Movement. Movement? wait for it - it's in the next frame. Ratties have 2 speeds - comatose and full tilt - not much in between.

20190620_2835_1D3-19 Before sunrise (171/365)

28 minutes before sunrise.

It looked a nice pre sunrise sky when I got up, so headed down to the beach to get some shots. I had only been there about five-ten minutes when my son rang and asked if I could look after a sick grand child for the day. So I packed up and went and collected said grand child for the day, leaving about a dozen others there getting maybe better shots the closer it got to sunrise!

Between the left of frame and the first support column are the low hills of North Canterbury (across Pegasus Bay) and the much higher Kaikoura Mountains (beside the column).

Also, for 365 Days - Day 171

This is life inside of iTunes Visualizer! At least the way I play my music :-) Loud! Playing is Alicia Keys singing Dragon Days. It may be noise to some, but to me is music. That young lady is a genius!

I suddenly remembered that I had a bag full of seashells...

...and that was day 171's Abstract Nature shot done and dusted!
