Day 153 - 365/2023 - A Never-Ending Journey

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Coccinellidae is a widespread family of small beetles.

They are commonly known as ladybugs in North America

and ladybirds elsewhere in the English-speaking world.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving objects are difficult subjects to keep in focus

~ three shots layered and blended in Photoshop

some of you may remember my winter shot of this place. I thought I would go back to see the difference at this time of the year. This was a tricky exposure has I had to use a GND to hold off the sky and apply a ND for the long exposure in the middle of the day. Still I like the result overall.

I know. A picture of a Peony again,

but, but they're so pretty and will be

done blooming too soon.

first day of exams today. math and french. math = thumbs down. french = eh we'll see.

tomorrow brings on chemistry and english. should do fairly well seeing as my books are kinda just sitting here =p.

had a lot of time to myself seeing as i had a half day. did some shooting outside and then it started to pour so i came inside (hence top picture) then back out as soon as it cleared!

there's nothing like the smell of a forest right after a rain. most of the carbon dioxide is flushed towards the ground, all of the light has to travel through the chlorophyll in the leaves, and every insect comes out to play. (:

goodnight and God bless.

triple digit temperatures mean we've been living at the pool...

The same shot from the same spot as Day 42 but 111 days later. What a difference! Day 42 in the comments.

I love sunny mornings here... But even if it hadn't been sunny, this has been a very lovely morning!

Day 153 of the 366 challenge 2016.

20210602_1615_7D2-26 Sunrise at Victoria Lake (153/365)

Victoria Lake is the larger of two lakes (the other one is Albert) in North Hagley Park near the centre of Christchurch City. I attended another Christchurch Photographers Group photowalk here this morning.

Il m'a été difficile de prendre des photos de celle-là parce qu'il faisait très noir et le voiture était toujours coupée par ce taxi!

So, last night I booked my flights to go Turkey and Kurdistan :) I am going to Istanbul for about half a day and then straight onto Kurdistan (s.e. turkey). I'll be gone for a week from Tuesday :)

The exciting part (for me anyway) is that I'm going for a photography project which I'll be doing out there. I'm going to be shooting an image for 1/2 of my overall contribution to a group art exhibition in central London (more on that in due time) and the main project I'm going to be doing is photographing all of the older members of my family in a photojournalist-y way rather than in my usual style you guys see here. I have people in my family who are around 100 yrs old so it should be pretty interesting and quite a challenge to make them do as I say. I'm excited about it.

And on a downer note, I think I've injured a bone in my lower back/upper arse area so I'm having a lot of difficulty moving and when I do move, it's very painful. It wont stop me going on Tuesday though!

when Frodo was advised to take a holiday, he didn't realise it would be quite so 'build it yourself'...

For this week's Macro Mondays theme: ' Fill the Frame'

i really miss the beach.

i'm starting to write in cursive all the time now.

We will love only what we understand,

We will understand only what we are taught

For for 365: The 2013 Edition's Week 22 theme: Panning.

*giggles*

Had this idea in mind but should have been faster in executing the photo, this is not quite what I was going for but... The watermelon hearts started to degrade when I was handling them and I sort of struggled getting the color right. Hopefully a lesson learned and a sweet treat to share with my daughter.

Day 153 - meeting flickrers

If been out today to Düsseldorf meeting with photographer extraordinaire Martin Klein. The weather was beautiful, but it was freezing cold so that we nearly lost a our legs and ears to the temperatures. Nonetheless it was a lot of fun.

Today (Monday) I had to return the lens I rented for my weekend shoot. I used Calumet big shout out to Mary Brown and Anthony Johnson for recommending them, I will be making use of this spot in the future. Anyway after I dropped the lens off I strolled down 7th ave headed toward 34th street when this truck caught my eye. Now I really don't like using selective coloring that much, I believe it was a very trendy process at one time that people began to over use. However once in a while I like to try it out on a shot that I feel it might benefit from it. Colors like yellows, pinks & reds are always good to splash in a black and white shot. Hereios are jumping today and it's Face Down Tuesday.

As I have a slightly dodgy knee at the moment, doing a jump shot probably wasn't the wisest. Hence the grimace on my face. and yes you can see the remote but i wasn't doing it again and it had started to rain and i had no cover on the camera.

51/100 - pixelmated - 2 layers, cropped and played with.

Also for 8/115 - Seat

and 78/215 - jump shots are fun. they always make me think of Rodney which reminded me to tuck my jumper in so you didn't get a view of my flabby, not exercising enough due to knee injury, tummy. not that Rodney has a flabby tummy but i remember him commenting on tucking his shirt in.
