130/365: 2015

I loved the colour of this wall and thought the leaf looked really striking against it.

Went for an sunrise shoot in the dunes again on a camel. The light was pretty good and it was a great morning. I ended up with many nice dune shots, but elected to go with this one because including the photographer gave it a sense of scale.

Sorry for dumping 2 or 3 photos a day. I'm trying to catch up in my 365 projects. This is the third one today, and you can view the other two just before this one in my stream, but don't feel obligated to comment on all of them.

Ash-throated Flycatchers nest in the southwestern states of the US. We do have the cleanest air and the bluest skies here in the Davis Mountains of West Texas.

I may never take another bird photo after this year!!!

For my ongoing bird-a-day project for 2017.

I saw this young Bluejay tucked far away in the shade of some tree branches and then saw its mom fly over and give it some dinner. :) Hope you had a wonderful day. I am still trying to catch up on visiting!

130/365 -Around the house - Day 130

Once in a house on a hill

A boy got angry

He broke into my heart

For a day and a night

I stayed beside him

Until I had no hope

So I came down the hill

Of course I was hurt

But then I started to think

It shouldn't hurt me to be free

It's what I really need

To pull myself together

But if it's so good being free

Would you mind telling me

Why I don't know what to do with myself

There's a bar by the dock

Where I found myself

Drinking with this man

He offered me a cigarette

And I accepted

'Cause it's been a very long time

As it burned 'till the end

I thought of the boy

No one could ever forget

It shouldn't hurt me to be free

It's what I really need

To pull myself together

But if it's so good being free

Would you mind telling me

Why I don't know what to do with myself

To pull myself together

But if it's so good being free

Would you mind telling me

Why I don't know what to do with myself

To pull myself together

But if it's so good being free

Would you mind telling me

Why I don't know what to do with myself

52 Clones week of 3/8 - 3/14

A load of new gear turned up today - including my studio flash lighting gear (nothing fancy just the Interfit EX150 home studio kit). So I have more stuff to learn how to use now!

Although, I totally underestimated the size of the lights (with the softbox and brolley attachments on) - and they kind of swamp the room I have been using as my studio (the dining room!). And that's without setting up the background support stand and the paper rolls!

So I spent most of this afternoon clearing out the garage so I could use that as a new shooting space...

I'm not happy with this shot - it's not at all flattering (terribly square hair), but it's just a quick shot I took to test out the flash heads. Minimal processing in Photoshop (just a little sharpening and levels adjustment). Transparent brolley to the right of the camera (head set to half power), second head behind me and to the left, pointing at the wall (for backlight). Triggered with a wireless adaptor on the hotshoe. :-)

Oh, I also bought myself a cheap graphics tablet (A6 Wacom Bamboo fun) - which seems as though it's going to come in very handy!

Now I can't buy anything else photography related for the next six months (at least!). If you see me browsing the Warehouse Express website you have my permission to slap me.

I've always loved this little one-room building just outside of Bogart and finally stopped to take a few photos. The sign isn't bad either, and next time I make sure I enter the store it advertises (just outside the frame).

Full color photos will follow shortly.

This is Photoshop corrected fix of the rather red original.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside, yes I do love to be beside the sea;

lucky for me that this is a 2 minutes drive away then! Bright sunshine + windy weather = great photos!

Day 130 - Essential Lord Beckett... Essential!

You can't wear a hat without pompoms!

Ok, new week... as much as I didn't want to take the 50mm of my camera, I wanted to do a little wider shot today and do some strobist stuff again. Don't mind the Lord Beckett in the title, that name just popped into my mind thinking about how to name this image (too much Pirates of the Caribbean I guess)... I think it kind of fits.

I watched as this young bird fluttered in the fence, wondering if she was stuck. Not wanting to disturb her I used my camera to take a peek. It seems she was just looking. I looked too, until she flew off .

There are things you can’t reach. But

you can reach out to them, and all day long.

The wind, the bird flying away. The idea of God.

And it can keep you as busy as anything else, and happier.

The snake slides away; the fish jumps, like a little lily,

out of the water and back in; the goldfinches sing

from the unreachable top of the tree.

I look; morning to night I am never done with looking.

Looking I mean not just standing around, but standing around

as though with your arms open.

Today was pretty good, in the morning I worked on my biology project,

Then I was bored because I was supposed to go see Where The Wild Things Are and that movie Whip It! (with Ellen Paige, from Juno)

buuuut, I didn't get the chance :/

Instead I hung out with Ada, Brittany, and a couple of other friends from school at Ada's house :D

We had a bonfire, made smores, and then just watched movies and stuff, it was really fun :)

have a great weekend flickrites :]]
