I took Kitty to PetSmart this morning to get her nails trimmed. Afterward I came home and Darek dropped me off at Bob & Max's on his way to work. Bob, Max & I had lunch at The Chicken Ranch before heading to the Palm Springs Art Museum to see the David Hockney exhibit. I was a fun day.

In 2023 Salts Mill at Saltaire in West Yorkshire displayed David Hockney's biggest picture - a 90.75 metres wide frieze recording the changing seasons in and around his French garden in Normandy.

The work joins together some of the 220 iPad pieces Hockney created during 2020. He comments on the work: "the viewer... will walk past it like the Bayeux tapestry, and I hope they will experience in one picture the year in Normandy".

While the polaroid effect is simulated using POLADROID software, the Hockney-style photo-collage is real, using separate shots of the tower.

This is the Coops Shot Tower in Melbourne. It was completed in 1890 and is 50 metres high. The historic building was saved from demolition in 1973 and was incorporated into the massive Melbourne Central complex in 1991 underneath an 84m high conical glass roof.

A "shot tower", for those who are curious, is a tower designed for the production of shot balls by freefall of molten lead, which is then caught in a water basin. The shot is used for projectiles in firearms.

the kitchen sink... I apologize for being so cliché but it’s oh so easy. yes? no?

It’s been a crazy summer thus far. As of today school is finished and I'm looking forward to getting a few projects started/finished before I go back in the fall. Maybe take a road trip or two and shoot some black & white film, who knows. I've absolutely fallen in love with the Hasselblad. It’s such a magical camera.

My Pro account expired the first of this month and I'd planed on posting a picture of me basically begging for a new account. Who doesn't want to support a starving (self chosen) artist? right? HA! Well... some wonderful soul beat me to the punch and upgraded it for me. I have an idea about who it was but I've yet to get the "yeah it was me." Regardless of who the culprit was I truly appreciate the gift. As does, I'm sure a few others (mostly the family) who enjoy looking at my work. -thank you

I'm no fan of www.davidhockney.com/ or the majority of his work but in the manner of was my last project for school and I figured it would be a nice reentry into flickr after my absence.

Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear

(March 2022 to November 2022)

At a moment of unprecedented creativity in men's fashion and reflection on gender, this exhibition explored how designers, tailors and artists – and their clients and sitters – have constructed and performed masculinity, and unpicked it at the seams.

...The exhibition showcases the variety of possible masculinities across the centuries from the Renaissance to the global contemporary: from looks by Gucci, Harris Reed, Grace Wales Bonner and Raf Simons, to paintings by Sofonisba Anguissola and Joshua Reynolds, contemporary artworks by David Hockney and Omar Victor Diop, to an extract from an all-male dance performance by Matthew Bourne's New Adventures.

The exhibition presents around 100 looks alongside 100 artworks, displayed thematically across three galleries, Undressed, Overdressed, and Redressed.

I'm not normally a fan of David Hockney, but his opera set designs are fantastic.

David Hockney created this picture (on his iPad), from the garden of his house in Normandy, France. He then sent it, along with eight others, to Will Gompertz (Arts Editor for BBC News) for everyone to see and enjoy.
