This little flower is less than 1 inch in diameter and I was less than 1 foot from it.

Swift River, Conway NH, October 2015. This stone was pretty big (35 pounds or so) and extraordinarily hard to place. I must have doinked around with it for 20 minutes. Shocked when it clicked into place. The total surface area of contact is about the size of a pencil eraser. I like the balance of this stone and the clear tenuousity (I may have just made up a word). It just doesn't look like it should stay there. Knocked it into the river. Data: 2 seconds @ f/28, depth-of-field edited in Photoshop. (Note: see the next photo in the sequence. The shapes are so similar, yet found miles and weeks apart. There are just a lot of stones of this basic shape in the Swift River. Which is good, because they are relatively easy to stack.)
