Shakespeare's Room” (2006) é um tríptico litográfico de Paula Rego (1935-2022), impresso sobre papel Somerset numa edição limitada de 35 exemplares, com cada painel a medir aproximadamente 90 × 65 cm. A obra integrou a exposição “Paula Rego: Histórias Gravadas. Da Imaginação para a Chapa”, patente no Fórum da Maia de 14 de março a 3 de maio de 2026, que reuniu 101 trabalhos da artista portuguesa em torno de contos, lendas e narrativas intemporais. Neste conjunto, Rego encenou figuras femininas em poses tensas, rodeadas por bonecos de macacos, brinquedos antropomórficos e máquinas de escrever, elementos recorrentes no seu vocabulário visual maduro. A presença de revólveres, telefones de disco e mobiliário de escritório evocou uma atmosfera de ameaça doméstica e poder ambíguo, característica da fase tardia da artista, na qual revisitou questões de género, autoria e violência simbólica. A técnica litográfica, dominada por Rego desde o final da década de 1980 em colaboração com o gravador e editor Paul Coldwell, da Culford Press, permitiu-lhe articular o desenho gestual com tonalidades planas de rosa, ocre e verde-musgo, reforçando a teatralidade narrativa das cenas.
“Shakespeare's Room” (2006) is a lithographic triptych by Paula Rego (1935–2022), printed on Somerset paper in a limited edition of 35 copies, with each panel measuring approximately 90 × 65 cm. The work was part of the exhibition “Paula Rego: Engraved Stories. From Imagination to Plate,” on view at the Maia Forum from March 14 to May 3, 2026, which brought together 101 works by the Portuguese artist centered on timeless tales, legends, and narratives. In this series, Rego depicted female figures in tense poses, surrounded by monkey dolls, anthropomorphic toys, and typewriters—recurring elements in her mature visual vocabulary. The presence of revolvers, rotary-dial telephones, and office furniture evoked an atmosphere of domestic menace and ambiguous power, characteristic of the artist’s late phase, in which she revisited issues of gender, authorship, and symbolic violence. The lithographic technique, which Rego had mastered since the late 1980s in collaboration with the engraver and publisher Paul Coldwell of Culford Press, allowed her to combine gestural drawing with flat tones of pink, ochre, and moss green, reinforcing the narrative theatricality of the scenes.

New custom background and folder icons for my workhorse machine ... definitely has a retro sci-fi feel. My final choice for desktops. Fell in love with the picture, and had to make it into the permanent desktop. I'm going to keep the other two close-by, though, because the tree one makes me happy. However, the bold colors of the orange, grey, and black, are very pretty.
It's very clean, and with the way I have windows open (Chrome straddles the left side of the right monitor and Outlook the left side of the left monitor), everything is fairly visible even with them open.
