Spent the Sunday soaking up the sun along the shores of Harrison Lake. Nice breeze, good waves, and a day out of the city.
The harsh midday light didn't offer much for the overall scenery. Breakenridge is looking pretty succulent in the distance, but the heat haze was real. Not a chance on getting anything reasonably sharp. So, after an hour or two of doing nothing, I figured I could pair some of the fairly impressive crashing waves with a bit of the landscape. Turned out pretty well, I think.

A window in the weather today gave me a bit of a chance to get this. I knew there would be a lot of water flowing in this river but I hadn't expected to see a face!
Thought I'd post this for week three's theme : contrast. There is a contrast between the hard rock and the soft water, still and moving, there are also light and dark areas throughout the photo.

Siwash Rock, one of the landmarks in Stanley Park, for sure cannot be missed when you walk or bike on the seawall pathway. I tell myself, every time when biking along, I will come shooting when the tide remains low! I decided to give it a try yesterday evening although I knew it might not be the ideal day... I particularly wanted to try the shot after sunset, hoping to grasp more color layers both in the sky and on the water. Unfortunately I was in no luck this time as the cloud cover was too thick around horizon. It doesn't matter... I'll just come back some time soon for another try!! :-)
