All of my blooming shrubs are late this year, but the cool, wet Spring really must have stimulated a spectacular show of blossoms on my bushes. This one is from the Viburnum.

I was pretty happy about this one and how their bright colors contrast with the background. Have a wonderful weekend!!

I believe that I switched lens' here and used my 90mm macro.

The Dark Green Fritillary is the most widespread fritillary found in Britain and frequently stops to nectar on Thistles and Knapweed. This male was found by Pete Rodgers in his flower-rich garden in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, where he has recorded 22 butterfly species!

Wasserrose

Im waldgeschützten Grunde

ein stiller Weiher ruht,

Von Abendsonnenstrahlen

glimmt rosigroth die Fluth,

Viel breite glänzende Blätter,

die schwimmen auf dem Teich

Und träumend schliesst die Krone

die Wasserrose bleich.

und der bedeutet,

aufzuhören mit der Sorge um Dinge,

The Rosella is a colourful medium sized parrot native to Australia and nearby islands.

They are in a genus consisting of six species and 19 subspecies with all the species have distinctive cheek patches - either blue-cheeks, white-cheeks or yellow-cheeks.

The Rosella in this photo is a Crimson Rosella with blue-cheeks and it is the most recognised due to its red, blue and black colouring.

The feathers on the backs of the Rosellas show an obvious scalloping pattern with colouring that differs between the species.

They have long broad tails and the brilliant blue coloured tail of this particular Crimson Rosella can be seen extending some distance below.

Rosellas inhabit the East and Southeast areas of Australia and are confined to the coastal mountains and plains where they inhabit forests, woodlands, suburban parks and gardens.

They feed on seeds, fruits, nuts, flowers, buds, shoots, nectar, insects and insect larvae and help pollinate the flowers they drink nectar from.

They are popular as pet parrots and aviary birds and can live for longer than 20 years and can often be seen scratching their heads with their foot extended up behind the wing.

The opening stanza from the poem “Eastern Rosellas” by Francis Duggan:-

Amongst Australia's fairest parrots in red and white and green and gold

The eastern rosellas so lovely to behold

And though not classified as plentiful or not seen everywhere

They are not an endangered species and not known to be rare.

Aus alten Gläsern rund und schwer

Trank ich einst Feuerwein,

Viel Freunde saßen um mich her

In fröhlichem Verein.

Und als ich so mein Glas betracht'

Stellt sich dem Auge dar:

Ein Kind, das Seifenblasen macht,

Geschliffen hell und klar.

Da trübte sich mein Blick, ich saß

Still, wo die Lust so nah,

Im Wein liegt Wahrheit, doch im Glas

Lag sie weit größer da.

Ja, alle Weltenlust vergeht

Wenn hier gefüllt das Maß;

O Schleiferchen, wie fein gedreht

Hast du dies in das Glas.

D'rum sitz' ich oft beim Wein geduckt

Und wenn er noch so rinnt,

Denn immer aus dem Glase guckt

Das Seifenblasenkind.

Schneeglöckchen

Schneeglöckchen, ei, bist du schon da?

Ist denn der Frühling schon so nah?

Wer lockte dich hervor ans Licht?

Trau doch dem Sonnenscheine nicht!

Wohl gut er's eben heute meint,

Wer weiß, ob er dir morgen scheint?

„Ich warte nicht, bis alles grün;

Wenn meine Zeit ist, muss ich blühn."

Fogless picture after a long time. Ha ha, we all know how this is going to be. Not much of attention for this photo, but I like the dark greens of evergreens even without the mysterious green fog. These places has so strong atmosphere, I always have to catch a few of them...

This Christmas bauble was hand beaded with sequins and pins by me. I have a Christmas tradition. I bead Christmas baubles for a select group of friends every year.

Each bauble is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the pattern and the type of sequins I use. Most sequins in this bauble are 5mm in diameter, except the small stars which are 3mm and very fiddly. This bauble is very special as it contains small round metallic green antique sequins from the 1920s. They are the ones placed against the silver background. The metallic sequins are French. Depending upon the colour of the sequin, I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble. I always leave the flowers and stars until last, allowing a gap in the sequin chain to pin them in.

These baubles are smaller than some others I do, however because it is a complex pattern which starts from the inside and is worked outwards in ever larger circles, each bauble takes approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours per side.

It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.

These gigantic, dark green/black philodendron leaves with the starkly graphic veins and subtle swirling patterns in the darker areas are pieces of art in themselves. Press "L" to see the patterns better.

I first encountered this plant in the Lincoln Park Botanical Garden in Chicago and its leaves were even larger and longer with the same striking characteristics but that image didn't turn out well.
