Be you saint or sinner there's some utterly fab items out for the roleplayer right now. I'm kinda obsessed with these wings by Aii which I can't resist wearing every so often, but then once you try a demo you'll see why too, the quality is top notch. There's a hella lot of eyes here which is pretty much one of the oldest forms of symbolism still in active use and once representing either good luck or the gods keeping a beady eye on you. This is a group pic featuring the lovely duo Marcy and Dacien, the team behind the Quills and Curiosities store. These guys are amongst the nicest people I've met in SL over many, many years and proves the old adage that looks can be deceiving is right - I've personally witnessed people take one look at them and run away before they even had a chance to say hello

The animated affect of these wings look fabulous in dark areas and add a bit of drama should you rock a RP demon or vamp character. They even have little wing bones. The Ankoù was not death himself, but rather a spirit who traveled around his parish every night collecting the souls of the dead with his scythe to present to Death by morning to take away. He would place them in a receptacle which came in many forms including that of a coffin. The stories of the Ankou are thought to be an ancient pagan legend that survived into Christian times.

I've always loved aspects of the Bauhaus movement of the 1920's. They famously encouraged their students to experiment with art and they gave us Dutch Angles, basically diagonal images (its not a modern SL thing at all) amongst other things. When I saw this headpiece by Azoury it reminded me instantly of the Bauhaus photos where they re-imagined stage costumes.

This fab cape set is from Deadly Pixels, a Legacy item but can be worn on other bodies via alpha settings on your own body's hud. RPers may like it as it can be adapted to a lot of different scenarios; accessories will quickly change the mood. I decided to give myself a dark edge and added things like Static's Cosmic meat cube. Level9's scarification tattoos comes as a bumper pack of many styles and the Unholy earrings have a nice colour hud. Check out the links to the creator's Flickr for more information and views.

Aren't these wings utterly gorgeous? The attention to detail is amazeballs (there, I said it) and there's so many combinations you can do with the excellent included hud. Although I normally skulk around the grid with more clothes, and yes, my toes need a trim, I had a blast putting this together and got some emoted 'swoons' sent my way too. I guess that's a result. Raven Bell's hair has an interesting materials affect that changes to light (and is fitted to male and female heads), and Lilithe' has a sneak peak to an upcoming tattoo that will sure please the Pagans amongst you too.

Things in my real life have been clamouring for my attention and take me away every so often from SL, so I'm returning during a free moment with a touch of demon themes with a dark fantasy look that some of you may also wish to peek at. I was challenged to have a touch of vamp with the wings which I tend to be picky about (hud, mods etc) and think I did ok. I'll let you decide. No Photoshop; Black Dragon magic.

I've had little sleep lately and feel like hell, so this Necromancer outfit by Somnium perfectly fitted my mood. Grab Raven-Array's stave to match and go raise the dead...I mean friends. Yes, friends *cough*.
Factoid of the day: The term Litch, to denote an undead Necromancer in Fantasy fiction originates from the Anglo-Saxon term 'Lytch', meaning corpse. In English churchyards they still have Lytchgates, small roofed gates where once bodies were left to rest for two days with vigil watchers before burial. These days you will often see them decorated for festivals and weddings by people unaware of its more disconcerting past.

Lately I found my mind wandering as we wind ourselves into the new year of 2023. I decided to do a more thoughtful pose to work with some PS tools I've neglected for far too long to get the hang of them. Maybe, hah. Working in extreme closeup made me appreciate the work put into the eyebrows and eyes by Landgraff (his Unholy eyes are really cool), the brows alone are nicely detailed down to the tiniest hair and added scar. I'm wearing Cubic Cherry's spectacles to add to the haughty look.

As a storm blew in, witnesses spoke of a lone figure on the shoreline standing perfectly still and gazing at the sea. Once the storm got closer his eyes appeared to expel streaks of lights as he held his lamp aloft. Every so often a small orb would dance from the ocean and embed itself into the dark smoke. The French and Spanish call him Dahul, the spirit who collected the souls of sailors lost at sea before sailing away on his ship with his ghostly crew.
(The story of Dahul is little known and a similar tale to the Flying Dutchman)

A note about super wide angle views: I wanted to use it to get in the panorama (and drama) of the sim, but the side affect of this is distortion which you may or may not notice.

Did I tell you I adore owls? I count myself lucky to live somewhere populated with many different kinds, and sometimes friends can hear them too when I voice. I'm also a night owl. Which takes me to the eagerly anticipated Engine Room event.
