We've been having some strange weather lately. A huge storm blew in and was chased out by the sun. What happened to the rainbow?
when I was plucking some cherries the other day, i turned round and saw the dark clouds coming in over the wheat fields the other day and the landscape's colours suddenly turned very special under the strange light
May 4th, 2012 - Northern Buffalo County Nebraska US
I Seriously, wasn't going to go out this night... Had a weeks worth of hell, and I really just wanted to do was get off work and go home. I was tired, I was cranky, it was the first weekend I've had off in a Month...
As soon as I pulled into the driveway @home, I could hear the weather radio going off and my storm capturing sensation came over me. Listening to the bullitins coming over the radio and I Freaked!. The storms were closer than I had thought. NWS just put warnings for Northern Buffalo County for super fast development of strong to potentially super severe, with large hail, and possible Tornadoes.
Photography Chance of a lifetime... Even though someone could cast me as a member of the Walking Dead....I was a trooper and I didn't wimp out! Luckily I had the my camera on the charger... Grabbed all my equipment & I hauled A** North... 20 mins later I found myself in the perfect spot, under the perfect conditions!
Cresting over northern Buffalo County, ready to cross between Pleasanton & Ravenna Nebraska, this cell was rapidly building and already had tornado warning on it. Incredible CG lightning in front of the storm cell was just to good to capture, with lighting firing off every few seconds.

We are truly blessed as I brought my husband home from the hospital to start convalescing at home, bedecked with a mask, his new mode of dress for the next 6 months, this beautiful sunset among the dark rain clouds, reminded me of the
golden ray of hope that has been given us from God...we truly are blessed!!
May 3, 2012 - Kearney Nebraska US
Storms were to develop early afternoon but the dry line stalled. Late afternoon into mid evening the dry line pushed just to the west of our location.
With unusually humid conditions for this time of year in South Central Nebraska, this produced the perfect conditions for supercells to develop just to the southwest & west of Kearney Nebraska.
Rarely do we get to see the full development from nothing to a full fledged supercell and this one had fast development resulting in some of my best storm photography for 2012

I was in Los Angeles last week ... there was a Sand Fire near LA, here's a shot of a dramatic Pacific Ocean moment on 7.23 evening.
I went to the funeral of a close family friend today and it took me back to the south end of dearborn / southwest detroit area where my family spent a lot of time when I was a kid. What a great place to go exploring! I would have done more, but I had to get back to work and I think I was making my mom a little nervous stopping, turning around, getting out of the car, etc. Will have to go back!!

Knowing that the storms were to develop in our location today, I headed out before the storm to position myself when and if anything of interest would present itself.
Observing some towers just east of Kearney starting to build, I let my fingers do the clicking!
