Look at a tree, a flower, a plant. Let your awareness rest upon it. How still they are, how deeply rooted in being. Allow nature to teach you stillness. ~ Eckhart Tolle

At a clearing next to an area of woodland a fox cub came out and posed perfectly as the sun of late afternoon cast dappled light through the canopy.

As a diversion from orchid images ... (of which there are many waiting in the wings!), I thought I would share this understated beauty who I chanced across yesterday evening. She was perched in dappled light and looking up quizzically at her mate as if to say, 'Where to now?'

As monogamous birds, the male and female are never too far from each other except during the incubation period.

In the heat of an Australian summer finding a tranquil place to rest is a godsend.

I caught a few good shots of this young mom and her baby. I am drawn to this particular image because of the dappled light and shadow and the vibrant colours.

I also like the symettry of frame...almost bifurcated.

In this piece, Duncan Rawlinson combines photography, AI, and classic painting to capture the lively interplay of light upon water lilies. Hues of light red and amber are scattered across the water's surface, creating vivid reflections set against nature's own canvas, alluding to the timeless charm of impressionist art.

I think it's easy to forget how far you've come.

Pick a moment in time and compare with where you are now. You may not be especially happy or you may even be ill at present, but you will have grown so much from previous years, learning new lessons, growing more conscious, possibly without realising.

Your independence is a credit to you - you are a treasure which is rare & difficult to pin down or possess. Keep evolving!

Growing in an old tree stump, this family of small mushrooms were easy to miss, unless you were on the lookout like I was. Getting low is crucial when taking fungi photos.

This Plumbago fights for space with the Lassiandra at my front door. It's a mass of flowers right now, and with the deep purples of the Lassiandra, I just love it against the cream weatherboards.

Some trees are calling out to be climbed..

Two & a half years ago, I went camping by the Basingstoke Canal for the first time, where this photo was taken.. I went back in 2018 & 2019, and will be there again this summer.

I love going camping and shooting self-portraits in the surrounding woodland. This was taken about 7 in the morning as the sun was rising through the trees, creating all that beautiful dappled light, but not too harsh.

Oddly, no visible civic addresses.

I've had a really productive day for a Monday! My weekend was super relaxed though, doing lots of fun things.

Describe your perfect weekend.. what would you do?

Around this time last year, my lovely man Simone & I discovered this semi-permanent camping set-up in nearby woodland - totally by accident - so we went there on the motorbike with a load of styling props to do a shoot.

There was a large tarpaulin canopy over a fire pit, a bucket, rope swings and some other bits so we added to it & took photos, much to my delight!

We played reggae through a speaker, made a hammock between two trees, tied fabrics, spent time building sets & brought snacks (v important!)

It was a perfect, hot, fun day, which fuelled my creativity during a little break from work.

Spotted from Skeldergate Bridge.
