The powers of water are immeasurable.
In the form of ice, it can chisel rock as effectively as steel.
Unloosed in a river, it can slice through
layers of volcanic ash like a knife through a cake.
Meandering in a shady stream,
it can make a home for green growing things.

This is a little woodland walk near my home where I often exercise the dogs. Sadly, it looks as if it will soon be urbanised as new homes are to be built in the fields at the rear. Whilst the developers have agreed to leave the trees in place, a pedestrian walkway and street lights are planned. So sad to see another wildlife haven destroyed.

“There's something very enticing about an empty bench under a tree. And if it's facing a river, that's the bench for me.”
― Joyce Rachelle
From the start at sunrise on Saturday, April 28th, the hike to Chatfield Hill along the Memaloose Hills Trail was magical. The light and flowers were exquisite.
Departing from Memaloose Overlook and about 10 minutes into the hike, my first shot was this keeper and it wasn't the last shot by far along the trail. Waking at 5 am was worth it. Both blossoms and weather were at their peak.

The Mill of Kintail near Mississippi Mills (formerly Almonte) is the home of the R. Tait McKenie Museum. Tait McKenzie was a noted artist and sculptor who kept the mill building as a summer residence and studio in the early decades of the 20th century. McKenzie was a childhood friend of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball who grew up nearby and with whom he attended McGill University.

A winding road curves gently through a lush forest, framed by the warm glow of late afternoon sunlight. The trees arch above, casting shadows that dance across the pavement. Billboards and rustic wooden structures peek out along the path, adding a touch of human presence to the otherwise serene natural setting. This peaceful scene captures the harmony between man-made paths and the untamed beauty of nature, glowing in hues of gold and green.
Change of mood for today's upload - double exposure in dappled light in a small woodland copse. Experimenting with colour combinations - always enjoyed blue and gold but a little desaturation gives a more subdued and subtle feel. The textures and light of the foreground grasses are what drew my eye.
Dappled light over the new-fallen snow in Yosemite Valley creates swirling patterns in the clouds and fog. March 3, 2018.
Much of the Trail of the Cedars Nature Trail follows along Avalanche Creek. The creek was full of roaring energy, following a very snowy winter. It was wonderfully loud & chilly along the trail.

Been having a bit of a run on sales with this one lately so I thought I'd add it to my Flickr collection to see what you guys thought!
I used to play in these woods as a child, with my friends Ketty, Scott & Lee. Most summer holidays I'd stay there with my grandparents who ran the Partridge Pottery. Returning after so many years brought back a lot of happy memories, and some sad ones; we were there to scatter my Gran's ashes & bring her home.
We went tent camping at Frozen Head State Park for my Birthday weekend. Checked-in Saturday, April 20th and checked-out on Monday, April 22nd.
Got to the Big Cove Camping area and our campsite (No. 12) at 3pm. And got everything set up shortly there after. We made up our Silver Turtles (Ground beef, Seasoning, Potatoes O'Brien and Brown gravy). Chilled around the camp fire and went to sleep around Midnight.
Saturday morning I took our pup, Rose to potty on part of the Lookout Tower trail. Got some iPhone images while we went up part of the trail. We had Egg, Ham and Cheese scramble for breakfast. Then chilled next to the fire-pit. Then cooked Hotdogs over the campfire for lunch. Put some processed American cheese and Boar's Head mustard on them. Drove down to the Panther Branch trailhead. Hiked to Debord and Emory Gap waterfalls.
Came back to our campsite and then took a nap. Got up after 8pm and we made my birthday dinner: Beth making the Instant Potatoes and me panfrying the Steak on the camp stove. Chilled some more next to the fire-pit. Went to sleep after 11pm. Temp went below 40 degrees overnight. Slept till around 9am Started tearing down our camp site at around 10am and got everything put in the car in a half hour! Had to wait a little bit before we left (due to a stuck Ranger pickup in a drain ditch next to our campsite).
Once on Route 62 (Knoxville Highway) we were delayed due to some road construction. We then continued on our way back home to Knoxville. Getting home just before Noon.

Beyond the boating lake are lots of footpaths in many directions. This one heads north beside the mill race.
Dappled sunlight filtering through the gum trees ,the sounds of waterfalls and tranquil swimming holes to enjoy with friends in Southern Highlands

“Walking and talking are two very great pleasures, but it is a mistake to combine them. Our own noise blots out the sounds and silences of the outdoor world; and talking leads almost inevitably to smoking, and then farewell to nature as far as one of our senses is concerned. The only friend to walk with is one who so exactly shares your taste for each mood of the countryside that a glance, a halt, or at most a nudge, is enough to assure us that the pleasure is shared.” ~ C.S. Lewis
Finally had some time to get out and enjoy a day, so I went somewhere I hadn't gone before. I didn't put the sticks there, but I thought it added to the compo. I thought they could have made the bench a different color though, haha! Everyone have a great week ahead!
