Zircon Heat Treatment Part (ii) Traditional Oxireducing

We did zircon heat-treatment article before with traditional oxidising method. You can see that, We were able to get good yellow color from dark brownish purple zircon.

In this time, We did oxireducing by using traditional method. That heating method has been using in Sri Lanka for 1000 years. Old businessmens say, their grand fathers taught them how do that and thats grand fathers also had learned from their old generation.

This time, We used oily green zircons for oxireducing by traditional system. We had experiences with heating oily green zircons to get sky blue color.

We did oxidising in atmosphere at zircon Heat-treatment part (i). but, We need to make some mixture to cover stones before Heating to do oxireducing process. We used CaCO3 powder and rice to make traditional mixture.

That covered Zircon balls are kept on Coconut shell Carbon-burner and slowly blowed by using pipe.

Right side stone was successfully turned to sky blue color. but, Left side stone was turned bit low color.
