Going back to a bit of still life photography now as i have not done much in this area for a while now. I am really getting into doing diptych's lately so really i am just doing some simple experiments. I found it really hard to come up with a title for this image/photograph as there really is not a lot of meaning behind both shots tied together. So the title words are partly from heavy rock metal and indie band 'Iron Butterfly' who i am not a particular fan of but it did help me though by using the song lyrics to one of their songs. I have slightly rearranged the words into my own to make it more personal to me.
When i was listening to a song by the band Elbow which is called 'One Day Like This' it made me think of these two photographs. So i can sort of relate it back to that song. So on the day i taken both these shots which i think work very well together, i was very bored so i just got my camera out and just experimented really using natural window light. I got a plate then just spread purple glitter, then placed a few beads and petals on to the plate. I just want to thank everybody on flickr for commenting on this photograph because i have used some of those words as my tags.
I wanted there to be a certain softness behind both images/photographs with a sense of beauty conveyed by the pink colors. There is also a little bit of a twist with my intense hand holding onto the flower. This photograph is open to many interpretations but i will leave that for the audience to decide. It could maybe relate to friendship or not. I will not give no more away now.
Photography And Post Processing - Me.
I like this image a lot and it is a personal favourite of mine. Shows yet another old lady/woman by the market stalls seeming absorbed/drained by life again and the look in her facial expression tells a story which can't be told which appears to be a mystery judging by her eye look. Although i did do loads of research into other documentary photographers for my university project looking at the likes of Henri Cartier Bresson and William Eggleston etc i can't really say they inspired me as i just went for my own approach. Trying to capture the moment was one of my target learning outcomes, i just like to grab the camera and capture whatever i see or comes natural.
I would say that shot is quite candid like some of the other shots, i got this shot as the old lady was walking slowly my direction without the self awareness i was there and it felt like forever until i finally got close enough to get the high quality snap shot i wanted to achieve. If you look closer at the image/photograph you can also see the old man walking/hidden right behind her also walking slowly who is probably related to the old lady or has some sort of connection. The post processing/production was quite simple as i messed around with the brightness/contrast to add more to it rather the image have a fade quality. Also i have tried to be clever by blurring the market stalls on the side to show how life/generation is going all too quickly for the pair. Almost like a daze which puts the focus/spotlight onto the main subject. I think the monochrome/black and white work well rather then color/colour as it makes the image more truthful for the audience.

Lately i have been feeling really uninspired but i did feel quite inspired when i shot for the above photograph. Feels nice to do some self portraits again and continue the diptych trend which is going on in my photostream. Once again the words for the title are partly mine but mainly the beginning of the title "Just Give Me The Light" is a title taken from one of Sean Paul's songs and the rest of the words are mine. Sean Paul is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall musician but I'm not really a big fan of his music. I just managed to find the words when i was on Google search engine. Why do i always find it a struggle when i have to think of titling a image/photograph? I had a bit of time to myself so i thought i might as well upload an new photograph but i am still going to be away from Flickr for a while now as i need to regenerate my ideas and prepare for my second year of university. Also one of my family members is seriously ill in hospital and it is not looking promising. I prefer to keep this personal though and will not discuss the private matter any further.
Going back to the main subject and i suppose it is quite conceptual. The lights are Christmas lights i wrapped around myself but i guess you can class them as Fairy lights if you wish. The lights were not too hot, really i should have not taken this photograph as it is a health hazard and i could have burned my jumper. Photography is my passion though, it's about dreams and self discovery. I wanted to show the struggle of having lights wrapped around me. It's about expressing how i feel to the audience which matters the most to me and i feel i have achieved this goal personally as an individual.
Hopefully i will be back very soon as i am getting a new lens within the next few weeks so expect loads more uploads if personal problems are solved. Expect a new refreshing style from me in terms of photography.

I am feeling good after just listening to musician Nina Simone. I have now got my creativity back. At this current moment I'm having a Flickr contact/family/friend clear out. If you do add me as an contact, friend or family member then i expect you to interact with my photostream and just do one of the following which is to leave a comment or favourite behind on any of my photographs. Please check out my profile as i have mentioned this on there and i don't want to repeat myself again. Check my profile on a regularly basis as in time this rule might change. If you just follow this simple rule then i will have absolutely no problem in adding you back as an contact, friend or family member. I don't care who you are and it applies to everybody. I'm not asking for too much really. Don't always expect an comment back but i always try my best to get around to most of my Flickr contacts. Sorry i had to write this in my description everybody but i do hope you all understand.
The title for this diptych is credited to rock band 'Counting Crows'. I felt these two photographs combined together work very well and they both reflect my love for color/colour. I wanted both images to be very artistic and creative. My main purpose was to touch up on a sensitive issue regarding the condition which is Colorblindness. Once when i was at school studying Science my teacher thought i was colorblind which i found very insulting and I'm not by the way. Anyway i wanted to carry out my own investigation through research on the condition Colorblind. Before i detail the condition more, the ribbon around my head and mouth is actually to highlight blindness from the color/colour dread beads which i once used when i done a bit of Textiles at college and i have cross processed both images through software to create some very cool color tones.
Below is everything you need to know as i think awareness of this condition is important and i have tried to create strong visuals which gets my message out there to people very clearly in a sensitive way.
Further Information:
Color blindness, or Colour blindness, a color vision deficiency, is the inability to perceive differences between some of the colors that others can distinguish. It is most often of genetic nature, but may also occur because of eye, nerve, or brain damage, or due to exposure to certain chemicals. The English chemist John Dalton published the first scientific paper on the subject in 1798, "Extraordinary facts relating to the vision of colours", after the realization of his own color blindness; because of Dalton's work, the condition is sometimes called daltonism, although this term is now used for a type of color blindness called deuteranopia.
Color blindness is sometimes classed as a disability; in certain situations, however, color blind people have an advantage over people with normal color vision. There are some studies which conclude that color blind individuals are better at penetrating certain camouflages.
Information is taken from the website 'Wikipedia' and i hope everybody now clearly understands what this condition is and i feel the subject was worth mentioning. This allowed for me to create an creative diptych which I'm happy with.

I actually decided to give this painting with light experiment an title which i called "I Dream The World Of Technicolor". Every image i mainly produce has to have color/colour which i just seem to be fascinated by which is probably due with the fact i done a lot of artistic work at school. This light experiment sort of reminds me of graffiti which one of the flickr members touched upon in one of my other experiments and i totally agree. I think i must have gave this photograph about ten seconds or slightly over exposure time to create the splash of vivid colours.
Sometimes i wish the world was full of color as i think the world would be a better place and environment for everybody to live in. It is nice to reflect upon things sometimes. In fact i can't remember the last time i had a dream. Anyway going back to this image, i would say it is one of the best from my experiments personally and if being critical it is maybe a little too over exposed but i sorted this out once again with the brightness/contrast tool on Photoshop (PS Effect) which is quite basic/simple to do. View this in black with the below link it actually looks cooler.
This photo was taken on a trip out to Broken Hill and Menindee during the winter of 2010.
The previous decade had been a long strangling drought for south-eastern Australia, and there was a steady flow of stories and images of the effect of this drought on the land. The Darling river, in particular, had been reduced to a series of pools, if that. It was a river in name only. The Menindee lakes, naturally ephemeral, were one by one becoming lakes in name only as well.
During early 2010 however, the situation changed, with significant rainfall over several months brining water back to this area of the country. The Darling River flowed again, and the Menindee lakes began filling with water. The opportunity to see this surreal sight, such large bodies of water in the middle of a semi-arid zone piqued my interest and so off I went to check it out.
In this case, water means a couple of things to me. Most importantly, it means life. It mean bringing back life to drought stricken farms, a green flush of growth across the land, water flowing again through previously dry rivers. But it can also mean death, as shown here by the drowned trees in Menindee lake.

Firstly i just wanted to say sorry to my flickr contacts and friends for the very limited uploads lately. I will not be posting any images/photographs for a while not until i can organise some fashion editorials for over the summer period. Keep a look out for some of my old work which will be posted though which will be mainly at the end of my photostream. Also i will be organising things on here and keeping up with all the kind/lovely comments posted while I'm not uploading/publishing any new works at this time.
Well i have something i really want to get off my mind, has anybody noticed my URL link for my photostream. Here is the following link:
www.flickr.com/photos/httpwwwfacebookcominboxrefmbprofile...
My problem is that it reads a string of numbers and it has taken me since December last year when i signed up to realise this. It's not very friendly, this must have been a mistake and i probably seem a bit stupid as i did not know what a URL link was back then. All i wanted was it to read my full name. So i got in touch with flickr by mail addressing my concerns saying that i wanted this changed, but all i got back was a message stating clearly that it's written in the policy that i only get one URL chance/shot which i personally think is stupid considering i believe this should become an option for pro account users and they believe all data/sharing will be lost well I'm sure there is away around this considering all the technology we have in today's world. Well the bad news is I'm now stuck with this URL name link but the good news is I'm stopping still despite this as i have put loads of energy into my photostream the past few weeks improving it.
Anyway this is a self portrait image/photograph of me taken in the back garden, your probably thinking how could i have shot this if the camera is in my hand well all i done was take a mirror into the garden and this allowed for a clear reflection of me instead of using a tripod. I like the natural lightning and the color/colour tones i have just played around with using gradient overlay. Gives an nice summer feel/look. This shot was quite relaxing and a break from the real world.
*Update - I have had no choice but to disable the uploading feature on all my art work/images/photographs. I don't mind people downloading my work for there own personal use but i do not appreciate contacts on flickr who class my own work as their own. Also i no longer want HTML rubbish which are normally group invitations or a copy and paste job. Sorry if it sounds like I'm moaning, moving on to positive news, i got a 1st for my university semester photography and moving image project which i was really pleased with. Now this means i will be posting more work soon. Has anybody heard that New Boots song called New In Town, i love it and I'm thinking of creating some photographs inspired by the song with the shopping trolleys. But we will see as i think it would be something different and unique.

Sorry again about the long wait for an upload from me but you may have noticed i have added some old photographs to my photostream. I will now to promise to add new photographs and am in the progress of organising some fashion shoots for over the summer but can't find a quality make up artist/hair stylist anywhere. Well i said i would not do any more lightning experiments for a while but i decided to continue the series as i was bored and not uploaded for a few days. This photograph reflects the happy mood i was feeling when i heard the following song lyrics which has a summer feel which i liked.
Little Boots - New In Town
Heard you're new in town
Once I'll show you out
Well no-one knows this place just quite like me
Well I don't, hang with the crowd
Where I go, were dressing down
I'll take you where the music plays for free
So don't rely on people you meet
Cause no-one is safe in these streets
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No, I don't have a penny
But I'll show you a good time
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No, I don't have a penny
But I'll show you a real good time
So what do you think so far
Is it all your hoping for
Does it live up to your every dream
Or do we disappoint
While you make the choice
When you wake up can you hear a scream
So don't rely on people you meet
Cause no-one is safe in these streets
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No, I don't have a penny
But I'll show you a good time
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No, I don't have a penny
But I'll show you a real good time
Cause I know how it feels to be alone
When strangers only make you feel apart
You never, ever felt so far from home
You never felt so far from home
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No, I don't have a penny
But I'll show you a good time
I'm gonna take you out tonight
I'm gonna make you feel alright
I don't have a lot of money
But we'll be fine
No, I don't have a penny
But I'll show you a real good time
I love this song at the moment and it is quite different to the other type of music which is out today. So i thought it was a great way to leave the description. Does anyone have a new favourite song at the moment?

Self Portrait Of Me Taken By Lake At A Local Park (10 Second Drive Mode Self Timer).
Grunge_Texture_1_By_Killcaiti_Stock.
The song title is taken from a band called The Script even though I'm not a keen fan of this song and it is on my iPod for some reason. I do feel the song title relates to this image/photograph a lot though as this is the end for now until i begin all over again with fresh work. Can i just say everybody who has commented on art work/images/photographs in the past few days have not been deleted, it was old work in which the dates have been edited and put back near the end of my photostream. Please note this photograph is new though and like i said i am now starting fresh with hopefully some strong fashion photography coming from me this summer.
This photograph was taken on a day when i was really bored so i took a trip to a quite near local park which is massive and full of woods. I actually ended up getting lost which was not fun but i did find my way around eventually. The park is near a big golf course so i also found a free golf ball on the floor which i decided to keep. This photograph i think is OK but certainly not one of my best but i guess in terms of experimental it can't get any better as all my other shots did not go to plan as i wanted them to. The forest/wood shots were pretty poor, i did upload them here on flickr and was not impressed so they just had to go.
With this outcome i had my camera on manual, it was only a slight dash to sit down on the grass by this massive lake which is quite hard to notice in black and white but I'm happy with the monochrome effect and this was taken on a ten second self timer driven mode. I really could do with a remote which would make my task so much easy and it is yet another thing to add to my list of things to buy. Photography is so expensive but I'm not going to type and moan as this will not get me no where. It's about working hard for these and I'm determined my passion will drag me to the things i want most. Here I'm just staring at the lake thoughtfully, to be honest I'm glad It's a back shot as i have not been very photogenic lately and the camera don't seem to love me when not taking photographs in the studio. Only happens to me when on location maybe because i don't have all that lightning on my face. I have also explored with textures with the credit given near the top of this whole description. I thought the flower(Buttercup) would provide a nice twist to this image/photograph almost David Carson inspired only without the typography. The yellow gives a fresh vibrant summer feel which i like. More photographs will be coming very soon so keep a eye out.

Lately i have really been getting into this painting with light stuff as seen yesterday with my other light experiments with the purple, orange and blue colours i used. This time i chose to go for Christmas lights which i found locked away in the house and this was inspired by others on flickr. Had to wait until around half ten to do this though as it stays lighter due to it being the summer season. Very simple to do as seen with some of my past experiments done in the studio on my photostream.
Basically made sure my bedroom was pitch black, but before this i put the camera settings onto BULB and for each one of today's experiments i gave an exposure of 2 - 10 seconds on each one with me moving around the Christmas lights in the dark to create an cool magical colour effect. I just hope it inspires other flickr users to do the same as it is an wonderful photographic art. This experiment has probably been slightly overexposed so i had to increase the light/brightness/contrast to highlight the foreground light against the black background.

Trying Different Exposures And Testing.
With this experiment i was trying to blend the colors/colours together to create different but cool effects from it. I think this was almost exposed for about ten seconds and i seriously need to start making more notes in the future of what settings i use for university project work although i think it should show the settings on here right next to my taken image/photograph. If you look closer the LED blue lighter has created a very light blue sky/turquoise color which i actually quite like despite it making the image a bit brighter. The overall aim with this image was to show the beauty of light which i personally feel i achieved.

Trying Different Exposures And Testing.
This one of my last experiments i tried out, i wanted to show more results but there are too many to choose from. I have kept this experiment quite simple but it is only practice showing the many ways light sources can be used. Now I'm done with these experiments i might try testing out some color Christmas lights if i can find some from somewhere which I'm sure they are hidden around the house.

Today was not my day as i went into Birmingham, town to take some landscape photographs but i could just not seem to get my camera out of the bag as so many people were giving me funny looks and this is how i know i will not be going into documentary photography at the end of my university course.
So after that i went to this quiet peaceful cemetery hoping to get some conceptual photographs, i walk past this cemetery every Saturday going to visit my Dad and when walking back. But this time i chose to visit today instead of a normal Saturday and i always find this large cross striking so i got my camera onto a tripod using the self timer which was set to 10 seconds then quickly ran to get on to the step of the cross. The result of this image i have processed in Photoshop which actually looks a bit stupid maybe i could have got the cross to be a bit more straight but i like the religious feel to this image. Just messed with the clouds too trying out different colour tones and getting a good contrast. The moon has also been put in to try and make the image a bit more moody.

Self Portrait Of Me Taken In Back Garden (10/Ten Second Self - Timer Drive Mode).
This is just experimental combining two different light experiments together. The top experiment was showing how to paint with light which is explained in some of my later photographs in my photostream on how i achieved/done it. It was nice to finally do some light painting after not doing it for a few months. I had to wait for it to get to a complete dark stage outside as it now takes longer to get darker at nights in the summer. That is one reason for wanting my own built in studio as doing light painting would be much easy then having to wait around all day. I should have really used a tripod, the cool blue effect was achieved by using a lighter my Dad had given me which has a blue LED light on it which is quite handy. I feel my only one big mistake with this whole image/photograph combined is that maybe i should have put a white line in the center to separate both images/photographs to make them stand out more.
With the below image/photograph i decided to work with natural daylight using a tripod this time and this photograph was taken earlier before all my LED light experiments started. For some reason daylight reminds me of that Kelly Rowland song also titled Daylight which makes me quite happy. I think the title of this photograph says it all really that "Summer Is Here" after waiting for so long after all the bad weather i have had to experience and many other people too in the past few months. I have also had to suffer really sore cracked bad lips which are finally starting to heal due to the nice weather and sun rays. My facial expression really does not sum up how happy i really am feeling inside but i do admire the dark shadow of me with the sun shining right behind me. I really should not face my camera in the direction of the sun as this can almost destroy the lens but never mind as i took the shot anyway.
Not much Photoshop work was needed really for the overall two images/photographs combined. Who needs Photoshop when i achieved such a great lens flare effect from the sun which i was quite impressed with. The sun was starting to set down so i got one or two good/great shots with the sun behind me. I also like the nice sky blue clear color/colour in the background. Feel free all flickr members to give me constructive criticism on how i could improve the whole two images/photographs and which to put my camera settings on in the future. It would help me a lot.

I thought i would try out this social experiment seeming as everybody is asking and telling anything to people here on flickr. I think i am actually quite good at offering advice and solving problems for people on the Internet and in real life. Obviously this form which can be found on FormSpring is completely anonymous. It is basically just a web online form where i get random submissions off strangers and it is also a great way to collect data/information.
*Update - The link has now gone, so i have now closed the FormSpring web online form and thank you all for the submissions in which i answered them all. Please read right at the end of the long comment where i have written a short paragraph explaining what i have learnt from this social experiment.
I am now going to be taking out a bit of time for myself and stop uploading for a while. I have loads of updating to do on my whole photostream so i am going to try to focus on that. I also think that the fact my creative concepts/ideas have just gone has not helped. So i am now taking the time to be a better contact/friend and hope to gain inspiration from all you lot on flickr. I recently also came across the amazing work of Simon Pais Thomas whose fashion photography work is just incredible. It looks like i will have to do one of those contact/friend showcase things very soon again but i don't want my photostream being full of them. Looking at the work of Simon Pais Thomas has made me realise that it's about treating self portraits like a journal really. I want to find the time to be more expressive within myself and find other ways to communicate to the audience about the way i am really feeling inside me. There are many more photographers who inspire me on flickr, some know who they are and the list contains too many to mention.
So i will be back in time with hopefully some very new fresh concepts/ideas which are exciting, original, and perceptive. Hopefully even extending my skills to build up a beauty portfolio which is totally new to me. Also having the time to make my fashion work even stronger in time as well as working on all other areas of moving image and photography. I need to stop making comparisons to the work of others and just focus on my own art/moving image/photography. I was given this sound advice by buttonheart (Chloe) and she is totally right. Also another thing i have learnt about myself is that i need to plan more in advance when i get a concept/idea as i always seem to get excited and rush everything. I need to realise that i can't expect things to fall into place for me straight away and i really need to stop being so negative about my photographs. I need more confidence and self belief so that is my main reason for needing time to myself. Lastly i will stay in touch with only my flickr contacts/friends photographs and i hope you all enjoy the rest of the holiday summer season.

Trying Different Exposures And Testing.
As i have not done no light painting for a while i wanted to refresh and build upon past skills i have learnt using a digital SLR camera. These are some very basic experiments of me just testing the way the light can be explored through an lighter and mini Maglite torch which i used. The lighter acted more like a useful blue/purple LED light creating also pink colors and the bright torch came out yellow/orange. Personally i think the colours compliment each other wonderfully. I think it works well in the image.
I did not use a tripod for done of these experiments which really i should have to avoid camera shake and other technical problems. It probably made my problems worst having to deal with holding the camera then holding the two other lights in the other hand while flashing them directly at the camera for just a few seconds. This photograph can also be viewed in black using the below link which actually looks better so take a look and let me know your thoughts. Take a look also at the large version which looks very cool.
