My entry for week 48 of the 52 week challenge - DREAMS. This picture and the five others were taken last year for a challenge at my Imagine group called Surreal. I was not able to do layers, (still not very good at it) so these were all set up still life shots with a bit a tweeking in elements.
A wet into wet watercolour I did over 20 years ago. I was in the kitchen trying to think what I could possibly post for week 46 - Smoke (52 week challenge) when I turned around and there on the wall was this painting, so took a few shots of it (Not easy when it's under glass) but this turned out fairly O.K.
We're exploring enameling on steel lately, and with liquid enamels and with welding too. No sense in attacking one variable at a time when you can get yourself caught up in snowball rolling down hill of cascading effects.
The steel is very interesting material and has a certain degree of flexibility that enameled copper does not. it also lends itself well to welding, which opens a whole new avenue for secondary operations on the enameled piece.
This pair of opposed dangles is about 2in (55mm) long.

Red Mason Bee
The Females have now ceased laying and we have removed the inner section of the bee box and placed it in a ventilated (with mesh) box in our garage where we hope they will now turn into a pupa which we then remove and store in the fridge over winter and which will eventually be placed in the drawer in the bee box next spring for them to hatch and emerge as bees!!!

This beech tree was making the most eerie creaking sounds as we passed under it and I then I spotted the pattern of the trunk (right) and realised it was the bottom of a huge split right down the middle of the tree, the next gale could quite easily bring it down. I hope no one is passing when it goes.
Week 37 - 52 week challenge, Strange or Strangers. This object was given to me by a friend to photograph
Lapis lazuli bead embroidered earrings with sterling silver ear wires.
Gorgeous lapis lazuli cabochons are the focus of these delicate dangling earrings. These lapis stones have tiny golden flecks in them; lapis lazuli often includes small amounts of pyrite. I surrounded the cabochons with a beaded bezel made of silver delica beads and tiny iridescent blue beads. I made the bezel using an off loom bead weaving technique called peyote stitch. The cabochons are affixed to an ultrasuede background, and then each tiny bead is stitched in by hand with multiple passes of sturdy nymo thread. I then embroidered a border of matte raku teal blue beads around the bezel and edged the entire earring with a picot stitch border of tiny silver and blue beads. The bead embroidery is backed with soft tan ultra suede. I also wove a tiny soldered sterling silver loop into the border of the bead embroidered pendants, and hung the earrings from gorgeous sterling silver ear wires.
These earrings measure .875 inches wide and1.5 inches high from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the dangle. (2.2 cm inches wide and 3.81 cm high).
