Ground was broken for Warner Gymnasium, built of Ohio Sandstone, in August, 1900, and the building was completed in the fall of 1901. It was named in honor of its donors, Dr. and Mrs. Lucien C. Warner, of New York, who provided funds for the building together with an endowment fund. An addition to the gymnasium, also provided by the Warners, was completed in March 1912.

Rare selfie taking the shot during a behind the scenes visit to Chichester University. Someone had left their clothes on the chair which somehow appealed to me and created more interest. the picture is a reflection in the mirror.

First of all, your eyes are just fine! ;-) I accidentally deleted the ones that were "clear" and all I had left for my Project 365 was this one. Anyhoo, tonight CE and I went to our first hula lesson. We've always wanted to take up Hula/Tahitian dance so when AC's friend's mom told me about this place that teaches hula & Tahitian we thought we'd give it a try. Being our first time we had a lot of fun . . . had problems with my hip movements because every part of my body wanted to move as well. . . it was hard to "plant" my feet on the ground, bend my knees and shift the hip from side to side and round and round to form a figure 8. I have no problem "dancing" but Hula is whole new thing that my body will have to get used to. Luckily we didn't have to move our arms and hands or else they would have been flapping all over the place. ;-) CE and I will try to commit ourselves to this new found interest . . . the classes are held every Monday in the evening. . . this was taken at the dance studio . . .

Rehearsals for the Ann Arbor Dance Classics 2022 Recital on Wednesday June 15th, 2022. Performances were held on Friday June 17th and Saturday June 18th at Saline High School (Saline, Michigan). There were two performances on each day. The students and teachers all wore face masks during rehearsals as a precaution against COVID-19, but were not wearing them for the performance.

I had such an awesome afternoon with Anchen! She does some modelling in her spare time and she used to dance up until six months when studies got in her way. By making her dance for this shoot, i got some stunning shots as it made her forget and become unaware of the camera.
As long as I can remember, this has been a dance studio, appropriately named "Steeple Arts" -- and it is located on Church Street.
It was a church at one time, but I can't seem to find the history on it.....
When I was in Jr High, this is where we had "ballroom dancing" (oh, quit snickering!!!) - I can still remember the unhappy looks on the faces of those poor 7th & 8th grade boys!!

The building at the foot of Paddock Steps was originally built as a Studio Warehouse for the Architect Robert Leonard and the Dutch Gable above the door bears his initials and date - "R. L. 1888"
For many years it was a Dance Studio run by Miss Millicent Simmons - you could often pass this Studio and hear the sound of music and dancing feet echoing up the street!
Note the original fossil Ammonites set into the centre of each pebble-dashed concrete panel

With it's natural light from the big windows, this abandoned factory building proved to be the perfect spot for a dance studio
The factory building is a Wombo creation. The dancers are a NightCafe creation. Then I blended them and added some textures in BeFunky
"...but most of all I hope you dance"
Does practice really make perfect? Is it possible to obtain perfection? Hmmm. :) I guess that's what we gotta tell kids or they would probably never practice. :D
Snapped this in the empty studio after Jessie's ballet class. I very rarely do b&w but the walls in there are a dark green and don't look particularly good in pictures.

Those 2 ballet dancers (he is Christian Dedeene), he was for 5 years a solo and star dancer with one of the greatest choreographers of the century, Maurice Bejart.
I was fortunate to have him in our studio a couple of times, and what an experience it was, each time. She has her own Ballet school, Rose d'Ivry in Ostend) are true professionals, otherwise I would not have been able to use this technique, ONE take...no PS! FILM!
This is the result of having those 2 wonderful ballet dancers in your studio, who are up for a challenge and something different.
How do you capture their graceful, often powerful movements and action in such a static medium?
And challenging it was, as ballet dancers need to be able to fix on a point to execute the figures correctly and land on the same spot.
This image is taken in a completely dark studio. Technically challenging though it is, the results always thrill me.
A bit of lateral thinking of what 'action' can all mean in photography, given the 'still' nature of the beast.
We had tremendous fun and are happy with the results.
This has been achieved by strobe flashing. A PROPER STROBE PHOTO!
Modern photographic stroboscopy in its simplest form is a method whereby a subject in motion is lit by repeating flashes of light while the shutter of the camera remains open for a period of time long enough to capture the subject in multiple locations during the time of exposure... not just using 'flash' as many seem to think.
As always, thank you for visiting, Magda, (*_*)
