The Our Lady of Victories Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Notre Dame des Victoires) is the name given to the church building that serves as the Catholic cathedral in the city of Dakar, Senegal.
The cathedral, also known as Cathédrale du Souvenir Africain, was consecrated in February 1936.

Deze sleutelhanger is van het Mammoetrallyteam dat niet meer bestaat. Maar Martin van den Brink rijdt nog altijd mee. Inmiddels zit zijn zoon ook achter het stuur en doet hij heel goed mee.
De sleutelhanger heb ik gekregen tijdens een van de Dakar Preprologen. Een evenement dat niet meer bestaat.
Een deelname aan de rally is duur, misschien wel te duur. Geen Nederlandse motoren dit jaar, wel 6 deelnemers in de challenger klasse, ook bij de auto's en de classics 6 deelnemende Nederlandse teams. Bij de trucks een tegenvallende lijst van 8 Nederlandse teams. Dat waren er ooit wel 3x zo veel.
Het avontuur is drie dagen onderweg, ik kan dus nog even genieten.
Ik heb de foto in RAW opgeslagen en bewerkt tot foto.
Achtergrond is een foto van de Abu Dhabi woestijn waar ik in 2019 was.
This key ring belongs to the Mammoetrallyteam that no longer exists. But Martin van den Brink still drives. His son is now also behind the wheel and is doing very well.
I received the key ring during one of the Dakar Preprologues. An event that no longer exists.
Participation in the rally is expensive, perhaps too expensive. No Dutch motorcycles this year, but 6 participants in the challenger class, also 6 Dutch teams participating in the cars and the classics. A disappointing list of 8 Dutch teams for the trucks. There used to be 3x as many.
The adventure is three days underway, so I can still enjoy it for a while.
I saved the photo in RAW and edited it into a photo.
Background is a photo of the Abu Dhabi desert where I was in 2019.

Back in November 2018, I had the privilege of traveling to Africa with my friend, photographer Tariq Tarey. We stayed in Dakar, Senegal, and toured the western half of the country. You can follow along with the journey by checking out the project site at:

You can tell Dakar is bustling, even from space! Its location means it has beaches on all sides of the city, but that it is boxed in from all sides too. The airport seems to hardly have enough space for the runway. It is a great place and I was welcomed very warmly when I visited, but it is suffering from the effects of climate change with frequent flooding during rainy season.
Un éperon qui s’avance dans l’Atlantique, c’est la presqu’île du Cap et Dakar, ville située la plus à l’ouest de tout le continent africain. Magnifique position géographique pour la sémillante capitale du Sénégal 🇸🇳 Il y fait très bon vivre et on y est bien accueilli, j’ai eu l’occasion de le constater. Elle subit pourtant les effets du changement climatiques avec inondations répétées à la saison des pluies et littoral plus au nord est grignoté par la montée des eaux…
