The DAF Pony was built as a light commercial vehicle, based on the DAF 44 with its aircooled 844 cc engine, and with the world famous Variomatic gearbox.

Only 700 Pony's were made in 1968 and 1969.

Only 30 are believed to be alive.

I have seen a few DAFs in France over the years, slightly surprising as I'm not sure what they offered that wasn't available on the domestic market - maybe the Variomatic transmission was popular when there weren't so many smaller automatic cars?
